hello .i buy today the px21 headset and im trying to set up the bass, expander and game volume .but its my first headset and the sounds i hear through them are very strange and i need some time to get used to it.so i want to ask someone who has the same headset to tell me if its better to have the expander on or off and the bass cursor should be max?sorry for my bad english and i hope you understand what im saying! Thanks in advance.
I use the same headset and turn the bass and the expander all the way down. Gunfire and explosions get too loud and drown out footsteps unless you turn these down. Once down, it is much easier to hear someone about to come around the corner or down the hallway.
ok ,thanks for the info but i thought it was better with the expander on.
Bass I can turn down all the way... Is it better to have expander on or off?
I do like how I can turn down the chat volume and mute myself 99% of the time without affecting game sounds.
I guess it's a matter of preference. I just think that I get more background noise with the expander on, so I prefer to turn it off with the bass on a low setting. Since it plugs into the TV, I wonder if the TV settings may also have some impact on the sound quality.
Go straight from the PS3, don't plug it into your tv.
This is good advice. Before I had the DSS (which I highly recommend for the money), I did this. As far as the Expander and bass, I believe it's personal preference. I have the bass off completely because of my DSS. Before that I had the expander on and the bass slightly turned up.
Ah, yeah they do. They plug into the audio in, and the ps3 audio cables plug ontop of those. That way you can still hear it on the TV when you don't want to use the headset. I own the cheaper p11 and there is only chat, game and Michael mute. I did have my headset cables hooked up to my TV audio out so that i could add more bass and treble too them when i seen fit.
Stupid auto correct, meant to say mic not Michael. The forums don't allow you to edit the post ion a phones browser.
I'm sure DZAdb knows that Frank. He's just saying it's better to just run the outputs from the PS to the headset. It works better for some of us because we need to keep the TV quiet.
Hooked up to TV in it's as simple as turning the TV volume all the way down, hooked up to audio out some TVs disable the built in speakers, some have the option in setup to disable them manually. But either way you don't have sound coming from the TV.
I have the same headphones and love them.
Personally I have the bass at about 1/3 and the expander off.
I use them at a moderately loud volume so you need to have the bass down otherwise it is very overpowering. Great bottom end from such a small driver.
I feel that the expander is a wasted feature as you dont want a massive stereo image when relying on the directional sounds. I have never really understood this being a feature of headphones.
If I am chatting with mates I usually have the chat volume at about 3/4 and the game volume at 1/4. All the explosions make it a little hard to hear the conversation otherwise.
Good luck with all, you have made a wise purchase.
You say "wise" but my px21 just snapped in half tonight after I put them on tonight, cheap plastic shite.
In response to OP, I turn base up 3/4 and leave expander off, all depends on your ears I guess

The PX21s have a design flaw right above the earcups where it swivels. The plastic piece breaks very easily. You have to be VERY careful when putting them on or taking them off; always use two hands.
That being said, the sound is really good.
That sucks. Yes they are a bit flimsy but the drivers in them are awesome!
I always roll my cord up and place them securely under the bed so nothing happens to them.
'wise' as in good value for money, you don't need to spend double that to get marginal difference like a lot of people have. Best cans i've seen for under $150.
which perk is better deadsilence pro or sitrep pro?
I prefer sitrep
on topic:
If using the DSS: Turn the expander off and the bass down, and use the DSS controls.
Sorry to go off topic:
Stalker is better than both of those. You can outrun trip explosives and strafe the enemy like a bo$$. If i had to use one of those two it would be dead silence. Awesome to be able to run up on the enemy without them hearing you. I always use Stalker and when entering a room I stop running and creep in ADS. Works like a charm.
u need turtle beach dss
