So let me get this right you're trying to game on 3G and you are expecting to not have lag. I now understand why maccabi gets frustrated. If you want to game you shouldnt be using 3G in the first place. 3G generally has terrible pings and thats what matters most when gaming.

Dude cool your jets, I get prety good pings on 3G. Steady 53-63ms ping to my home agent server which is Chicago, IL. I ping lobies under 125ms most of the time. I get upto 1.4Mbps download, and upto 500kbps upload. I get a faster upload than my neighbor a mile away who has cable. And my download beats my friend's DSL speeds. So cool your jets. I was just sharing an MTU change that stopped lag spikes and made things more smooth. The backhaul to my tower is single T-1 so yeah. I use a router with my USB modem to elimate the PC. Plus, when I am top player in a game it justs means I am good if I play on 3G

That's not bad for gaming at all, just a little disadvantage. No pings over 100ms, and anyhting under 100ms is pretty good for gaming. And that's on Wifi, my PS3 is hardwired.

My average ping to google is 35 ms. When I tracert to google.com it is the same. I pay dearly in the lag comp/sync dept when I play this game.

I've followed the instructions here and was still experinecing lag. I searched the internet and saw youtubers saying lowering your MTU from the default 1500 (mine was set at 1472 after reading your thread) to just above the minimum 1364 for Xbox360 would help. Through trial and error I have found that my games seem to run the smoothest between 1408 and 1452. I've seen post mentioning that this may be a placebo effect so I am wondering what am I affecting when I change my MTU? I'm not asking for the technical explanation of it all, I just want to know if I am lagging other players, hence cheating? and why, if this thread suggest going to the largest no fragmented packet size for MTU, do I get better performance at lower settings?
Also, I have TWC broadband/wideband 30down/5up internet, using a linksys wrt120N router, my QoS for Xbox360 is high priority and everything else on my network has QoS set to normal. I've done port forwarding and any other optimization listed here. I am in Raleigh, NC using pingtest.net, I can ping Corpus Christie, TX (1,200 miles away) at 48ms 2 jitter and 0% packet loss. With all that, since the next to last update/patch I have not been able to get into a >50ms lobby more than 1 out of 50 times I play and I get into >75ms lobbies just slightly more frequently. Is there anything I can do about that?

I just found this thread and ran the namebench program. The DNS servers it found for me said it would be 40% faster, changed my settings and it was much better! Right now I'm on a wireless connection, if I went with a wired one would I also see noticeable gains?
Thanks for this thread Mac, you sir are a scholar and a gentleman

I used this one: http://www.grc.com/dns/benchmark.htm I found it a little more polished than namebench but I did use namebench to confirm the results and they did match.

3G, 4G and satelite are NOT supported on XBL. You are part of the problem, you are hurting the game for everyone following the rules.
source: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live/connecting/performance
Do not use satellite, 3G, or 4G phone type connections. These types of connections are not supported, and you are likely to experience slow game performance or have problems downloading or streaming content. For the best Xbox LIVE experience, an Internet service provider (ISP) with a high-speed cable or DSL connection is recommended
