I read this article today and I was wondering what the community thought:

Obviously Anders is a sick man but do you guy's think that these types of games will become MORE regulated than they already are because of this revelation?
Do you think the lag made him do it? (joke)
Just what CoD needs; another reason for campaigners to start arguing that CoD makes killers lol.
Why does no one understand that the people who do these things aren't right in the head to begin with? I mean come on, Anders truely belives he is part of some assassins creed story for Gods sake! (A knight templar indeed lol) It doesn't even make sense! playing CoD does NOT teach you how to handle a gun IRL; try some of the stuff you can do ingame and you will blow your arm off!
People need to stop blaming games for the worlds problems; those of sound mind know the difference between real world and fantasy.
I'm with you on that! It's also funny to point out that he also played WoW while taking a year sabbatical and living at his mom's flat. I think living in your mom's basement for years playing WoW causes you to go insane IMO!!!!!
I for one hope every criminal starts only using CoD for weapons training ...they won't be able to hit sh** in real life then!
Lol!!!
Probably won't really change much, but there was a story about a terrorist cell using CoD and other online games to talk about illigal stuff since XboxLive wasn't monitored for that sort of thing. So expect big brother to be dropping in on your gaming sessions to make sure your not plotting anything evil. Weird to think about but won't really effect us ...unless you're planning jihad or something.
I read that article; it's funny how CoD is made a prime target in that report yet it is simply the XBL chat feature the terrorists were apparently using. Just another reason for them to attack CoD for no reason.
Yeah, CoD's the big boy on the block right now so there the ones people fuss at. I remember when Halo and GTA used to be the go to scapegoat ...ah the good ol days.
So when (not if) the government monitors online gaming, the lag would only get worse since you have yet another system pulling data. Right?
On a side note, I wonder what the terrorists avatar and user names were on XBL? Lol. just wierd yet funny thought.
No because your audio is already recorded by MS in case they need to review it for banning purposes. They just didn't scan for key words related to terrorist and stuff, now they'll start keeping an eye out for that stuff is all.
Wow....I wonder what kind of stats they would get if they search racial slurs....hmmmm
They couldn't monitor for racial slurs, that would be like searching for the word the. There would be to many to keep track of and it would over load the system. ;-)
It would make for a fantastic psycology experiment!!!
Really? Some psycho blaming video games for him killing? Didn't see that one coming...
Surprise, surprise!!! Lol
i have never played WoW, but have a few friends that play it...what i don't understand is how this sick psycho thinks that WoW is "not violent at all". And he sat in his mother's basement for a year playing that game?! that's insane...But, I agree with the rest of the people who posted replies on this thread...This is just another way for the media to blow things out of proportion and blame a video game for the actions of the criminally insane.
I can see them trying to ban BO2 from UK :/... hate the media i really do.
They tried to do so for Blops and MW3 aswell, the sane always win over the moron campaigners ![]()
I didn't know about Blops... some guys girlfriends really hate cod ![]()
It just seems to me that crazy people will do crazy things and we can't prevent all of them from doing something unfathomable to society. It reminds me of the line from the movie Lord of War: "They say that evil prevails when good men fail to act but what they ought to say is evil prevails." Sad to think that but we should never ignore these types of people who would commit such crimes.
I hate the fact that this will just provide "reasons" for all these anti-video game activists to open their big mouths and try to get these types of games banned
the act of one does not reflect the acts of all.
I'm with on that. I'm so sick and tired of people who act out the line "the squeaky wheel gets the oil" mentality. In my mind maybe the wheel is broken and needs to be replaced. Too many people believe that there theory's are always correct and that they need to "impose" a regulation on everyone else. What about bad parenting? or what if Anders has a mental disorder? Too much thinking with emotion and not enough with the thing between there ears IMO.
I just laugh everytime one of these morons such as that murderer to use video games as an excuse. "Oh i played GTA, so i went outside into the traffic and hi-jack a car someone was driving"... like really?
I know right, i play cod everyday and i have never once thought of going on a killing spree in real life... i just can't wait for the idiots to start generalising (is that a word?) us all.
exactly! the average gamer doesn't play CoD and think "oh, operating firearms are soooo simple, I think I'll go out and kill 70 people today..."
