Wow Vims. Crazy videos. Much of the time, I don't get kills that quickly & easily in HardCore. I wouldn't be surprised if, from your opponents' perspectives, you were "that guy" who kept insta-killing them that they never even saw on their screens before they were dead.

Yeah, I could imagine how you'd feel in hardcore especially when you're not getting insta-kills like my clips.

I feel bad for doing this but I'm trying my best to get the devs to wake for once instead of trying to slide this under the rug until BLOPS2 comes out.

Insta-killing felt like a different game to me and the bloody red screen was good to witness for once. I can't play this game on my host's connection, it's just too unbearable to play when the game is dumbing me down & making feel like the worst player in the game (and I've played COD since COD1).

I'd like to link this video coming from two of our forums members, Maccabi & CAPP00:

They explain ALOT about the new matchmaking system coming up & how it could improve the game for those in parties.

All I can say I thanks to both Mac & Capp for providing the video.

GHANDI by the way. If this matchmaking change improves the state of MW3's connectivity, please consider offering someone like Maccabi a job for IW in the networking department.

Excellent video well done to the commentators.

Its a pity though although the video is well put together i still think coverage is generally low, capp00 lag compensation video has only got 20,990 views which is nothing and who knows how many multiple views that includes. What i recommend is getting these vidoes to well known youtube commentators i.e. xjawz, syndicateproject, woodysgamertag, whiteboy7thst. The amount of subscribers these commentators have will definetly make sure this video is seen by a larger amount of people.

I especially liked the comments on flucuating ping, I recently played COD4 although it was hacked the hackers actually did something good which was to show the ping for each player and you could sit there watching the scoreboard and how it flucuates. Seeing ping levels in Mw3 and BO would be highly beneficial as it affects the game alot due to the lag comp changes, however i doubt we will ever see this introduced as it would probably result in players entering and exiting matches on a large scale.

I do agree that coverage is low but I'm glad it's getting some attention from GHANDI. i.e. Capp00's Lag Compensation Explained video.

IMO, I think the devs are afraid of showing someone's true ping in the match. It's a reason why they hide it with bars.

And it's not just COD. Same applies to other FPS these days on consoles.

This fix only addresses match making not the real issue with lag compensation.

Good video but i don't totally disagree with you guys about lag compensation only smoothes out the lagging players.  Your video doesn't even touch why limiting your internet connection has a positive outcome on the gameplay.  Most of us understand that bandwidth doesn't equal speed, so with that in mind limiting your bandwidth would only affect you being host or not.  But that is not the case with MW3, many players including myself have seen a positive affect by adjusting QoS or upload speeds on the router.  I still think you guys need to work on your lag compensation theory.

    and

But based off the video host selection for a single player should be the closest (lowest) ping host. I'm pretty sure players have claimed lag compensation issues even when playing solo.  So, in theory they already have the "best" host available at the time and are still seeing the issue.  If that is the case then this update is a waste of time for them.

IMO this patch is not addressing the real issue and nothing is going to change.

I am one of those players who have adjusted my QOS but according to Mac, it lowered my chances of getting host as I had a lower upload speed but ping was the same. I saw positive results but it was more to do with not hosting which is where I had significant problems.

IMO this patch is not addressing the real issue and nothing is going to change.

I'd say give Mac a chance, you never know what could happen.

He seems pretty confident about it & in the past, he's helped me out with a few issues with my connection.

Let's be honest, it's better than hearing the same old "networking enhancements in next title update"....what networking enhancements?

But once again this patch sounds like it only addresses the issue for a party not the lone wolf player.  So, the patch is not addressing the root cause just another symptom.

Using the example in the video the party of East & West coast USA were avergage ping matched to mid USA if you're a solo player in mid USA you potentially get matched into that session against them which is far from the best host.

So according to them (in the video above) the lag comp is only for making it look smooth. So whatever it is that stops us from being able to kill somebody is the real problem. Does it have a name? It would be good to know so we can use correct expressions. Anyhoo. The inconsistency in the game is frustrating. In one game out of ten the game feels great, in the rest of the games I need to camp/play carefully to go slightly negative k/d-wise. Rushing in those games ends normally in 7/21.

Client payload is intentionally small. The issue with people throttling their connections is not one of bandwidth but induced latency either through router packet throttling or PDV from other means. This affects all opponents in the game.

How prevalent this practice is now I can only guess.

    @ G IH A IN ID II,

Have you ever considered QoS tagging your game data in CoD, similar to what we do in VoIP apps? Given that CoD traffic is essentially a realtime app setting a high(ish) priority QoS on CoD client communications might resolve some of the issues particularly with certain ISPs and certain residential routers. I think QoS tagging on game data might help eliminate some of the unintentional PDV experienced. Food for thought?
