Shotguns - The New Sniper Rifle????

It is ridiculous how many people are running round using the most over powered weapon in the game...The ShotGun (any of them) I was playing a match yesterday after a small break and on a team of 6 5 of them had shotguns and it was practically impossible to touch them at all.
I was under the impression that this had been resolved in game?? If anything it seems to have gotten worse to the point you can pretty much use it the same as a quick scoper would use a sniper rifle.
if u know there all using shotguns just stay back and dont move so much so u can keep the fights mid to long range and ull win every time dont just keep rushing back into allys and small places were u know ur more likly to lose
Fight fire with fire! They used to annoy me so I created a shotgun class stuck on the Striker if a games over-run with them guess what I put on!?
I did the same thing. Shotguns and over powered FMG's get so annoying that I made a class called the "douchebag" class for when they make me mad about it. It has a USAS12 with Range and Dual FMG akimbos. I hate playing that way so I've gotta be pretty annoyed before I use it. Rather than quit, I piss them off by playing them back the same way. Usually it doesn't take too many deaths before they switch to something else and then I can swithc back to my normal class too. ![]()
doin that wont fix anything either, thatll just turn into "i shot him 1st" as it is with lagging and knifing and u coulda swore u knifed 1st but he knifed u instead. bottom line, if every1s using shotguns the blame will just turn to lag and connection blah blah blah.

I'd beg to differ on the shotguns, though I've been getting killed tonight with people using range on it like mad, but I"m using the Model 1887 with it, and I shoot people dead on, and if that pellet spread doesn't hit the body all that right, you'll more then likely get really miffed for not getting a kill you feel you deserved. I've been so mad that I can't use the MK-14 because of the horrible lag comp and matchmaking recently, that I've resorted to the horrible most used ACR 6.8. Originality is dead to me at the moment.

See I use all the weapons people moan about on here striker -check, acr - check, mp7 - check but I am BAD at this game I need all the 'cheap kills' (as I'm regularly told)I can get. My opinion that is if I like it and it works for me and make my enjoyment of the game more then why the hell not! thats why we all play this game, right?
This argument is a result of the follwing:
1. You're playing on "Hardcore"
2. People are using the Striker.
Other than that, I've never really heard anybody refer to the shotguns as overpowered. A majority of players call them "underpowered".

how do u figure that the shotguns (other then the striker) is overpowering have u ever tryed using em u will find it takes alot of trail and error to get close to kill with them maybe u need to play with a ksg one day and find out
More shotgun complaints? I was playing core Dom 2 nights ago on Bootleg and got a MOAB with a silenced KSG. Lulz were had on my team for that filthy MOAB. if you don't want to deal with shotgun users, play hardcore so you can kill them from farther away in fewer bullets.

What impact does a silencer have on the damage? Or is it just the range? i.e. If i'm rocking a shotty with silencer and range does that equate to same as stadard shotty? Still 1 hit kill in HC?
Not sure if you know this but this game is based on CQB so shotguns are going to be hard to beat. Also snipers aren't a close ange weapon which shotguns are so to answer your question, no shotguns are not the new sniper.

Shotguns are supposed to be dominant at close range...and they're useless anywhere beyond that. If you're playing against a whole team of shotgunners simply stick to long lines of sight and pick them off. Or whip out a shotgun or SMG with a faster ttk (PM-9, PP90) and take them out in CQC. Shotguns are not overpowered. People who use the Striker every game and gold it every prestige are pathetic, but there are weapons like that in every class.

The buff that shotgunners want won't change its damage at range at all. The buff we want is in the form of more close range damage. This has a minimal effect on damage at range. Less than 3 ft added to the pump's expected lethal one shot kill range. And frankly I am asuming you havent used shotguns much because If you had used pumps you would know how bad they are in mw3. To get a one shot kill past 13m you need dead on accuracy. Considering that hip fire aim assist for smgs start at 18.5 meters and most of the smgs do max damage out to 16m+ and steady aim turn hipfire into a lethal tool for smgs, that means that hipfiring an smg will be more effective than a shotgun in almost every case.
I can destroy one second and get a hitmarker from 10 feet with a specialist bonus ksg. That should never happen. No other gun in mw3 suffers from this caliber of bs.

Yes because if I was using an smg or AR It would have been a 6 man streak and possibly onto a moab. I have 10 smg moabs and 3 pump shotgun moabs even though I have more than double the kills with the pump shotguns. They are inconsistent. And frankly a 5 man streak is not impressive at all.
I personally hate shotguns, however this is my choice. The way I look at it is if I allow a shotty user in at close range then I should die. no questions asked. However my main issue with shotties is that I have been killed from AR and SMG ranges from shotties and that in my opinion really takes away for any realism this game might have had to start with.
I think you should know that 00buck shot is lethal to large animals out to 40+ yards easily. 00buck is 33 caliber a 9mm pistol round is only 35 caliber. The range that buckshot starts to really bleed velocity is aroung 45 yards.
Buckshot tables are near the bottom.
I don't think I have ever been killed by a shotgun at what I consider AR ranges, or if I have it is less than a handful of times.
Even at anything outside of probably 10 meters, I have probably only been killed with relative consistency by Striker users taking multiple shots to get me.
I rarely die from outside of 10 meters to a pump action shotgun.
Using a pump action shotgun, I can vefify I have gotten kills in one hit outside of 10 meters at times, but I also get hitmarkers at point blank range more often than I get long range kills.
And I have no idea if the guy I kill at long range might already be injured.
Sniper rifles - The New Shotgun???? On a serious note i KNEW once they buffed them the 12 year olds would start whinging and calling them OP... seriously if you can't deal with a shotgun user you're just bad.
Lol they didn't even buff them. The spas is the only shotgun that actually had anything changed. But the pre patch spas with emags and range is better at every range than this current spas with damage. That is how good IW is at balancing shotguns.
The KSG seems to kill at base level finally, the model not too sure on as i have never liked it.
Yeah they made the 9 pellets that emags used to give come standard on the ksg. For people that already had shotguns to max level there was no buff. The usas and fire 9 pellets by default, the aa12 was strait up nerfed with the removal of emags, the 1887 was absolutely untouched, and the spas was changed from 25-5 to 30-14 but the elimination of emags glitch has made it unreliable up close. There really isn't a reason to use the ksg in mw3, its one extra pellet does almost nothing for its reliability and I do find it lacking range on maps other than mission, sea town, and lockdown.
how to kill shotgunners: pick your favorite easy mode noob crutch (acr, mp7, dildo gun) and stay the hell away from them, fire at range so far away that SMGs shouldnt be able to hit (but do) and ACRs still laserbeam people.
i repeat, if you dont like shotguns just stay the hell away.
I run a Model 1887 class occasionally... If you get good with the model, you constantly feel badass. The lever action after each shot, and watching your enemies fall... It's epic. It really is. It's not an easy shotgun to master, but I've definitely pulled off some crazy mid-range bullshit shots. With that being said, the model has the highest range of any of the shotguns.

You are mistaken.. The shotguns aren't overpowered at all, and are not essentially the same as quickscoping. Shotgungs are supposed to win cqc MOST of the time. Quit complaining about them, when they are beating you in their best range.
If you've ever actually extensively used any shotgun, you will know that it actually takes skill to use them efficiently. If anything, the shotguns are underpowered.
Example: In mw2, the spas-12, aa12, model, and striker, were all better than they are in mw3, and they were SECONDARIES.

Whats wrong with the USAS? Rate of fire is not that fast and in all honesty I'm hoping for a 1 hit kill with any of them. I never use the Striker, because frankly its to easy in every way.
They really screwed up the mw3 aa12. There is not a single redeeming quality about that weapon. Terrible ammo, therrible reloads, terrible range, and terrible damage all rolled into one big ball of crap.
The pumps are okay at range but they have very poor damage output up close. This makes them unreliable in the range where they should be the most reliable. It doesn't make sense that they made the spas, 1887, and ksg take 4 pellets to kill by default. That is absolute crap. They should be 3 pellets by default and 2 with damage. It doesn't make sense, they built stopping power into the close range damage of all the other primaries in mw3 but shotguns have less than even their regular damage up close without the damage proficiency. The damage proficiency gives makes the pumps basicly a stock shotgun from mw2 with less total range, and less range to the damage drop.
In sumery the other primaries in mw3 have stopping power built in up close, normal damage at range, and less range to the damage drop. Shotguns have been discriminated against in mw3.
And it angers me because I don't even know why the hell they would make shotguns terrible. I cannot understand why.
I think this is just a prime example of people crying op about a weapon without ever putting any time in trying it out to see if their complaint are legit.
Anyone who has any time in with any of the shotties, .......... yes the striker included ....... know that its a chore to even go positive with one.
Sure ...... sometimes you get an awesome kill or even like a few times with the striker I've run down a hallway mowing down enemies like I just detonated a moab ....... but for every one of those you get you'll get 3 or 4 WTF!!! I just pumped 5 shots in the back of a dude's head from 3 feet away just to have him turn around and drop me.

I get the feeling its a lag/lag compensation thing. Everything you read is about inconsistant - whats stupid is its usually the close range you can't kill, 40ft away its like boom no worries ![]()
Yeah. Damage seems to make it only about 40% inconsistant, instead of 60% inconsistant.
maybe if you kept your distance you wouldn't have a problem

It took us this long to get the shotties back to a semi decent standard, albeit they are still unreliable, but please don't start threads like this just because you got killed by one.
It is easier to get a OHK quickscope in this game than it is to get a OHK consistently with a shotgun.

Try using them and you'll know they're not overpowered. I think you got owned by a group running shotties because you tried hard engaging them in CQC. Try engaging them from a distance and know their weaknesses. Use their weakness to your advantage. You won't have a lot of success if you don't try to adopt and insist on your playstyle that doesn't seem to work well against shotties.
