Activision announced Elite2.0 in a recent earnings report, about an hour ago a few interesting titbits got out onto the web.
players will be able to access elite whilst in the next CoD game which is called CoD:*redacted*,
realtime updates means elite will now be able to track dashboarding and quitting games early
if you leave a game elite knows you started it if theres not a finishing update it makes that game under the new "surrender monkey" stat
like the previous version of elite, each game will have its own heatmap but the game will also now log movement so if you stayed
for example, in one spot for a long time (camping) that spot will be highlighted by a little tent icon.
One exciting new feature is actual clan tournaments, clans will be able to challenge other clans in the gamemode of their choice,
once the match is over elite will check to see if the clan leader who made the challenge won or lost and the result is then
logged accordingly on elite giving the winning clan points for ranking up and for their league spot.
Seasons will be another new feature in clan tournements, allowing clans to top their league and win actual prizes for all competing clan memebers.
The biggest change for elite will be you will be able to use some features whilst in game, from an elite version of blops combat record to a
humorously titled app called "come at me bro" where you can send from in game a challenge to a recent player or someone on your friends list.
In Elite 2 a more gamer friendly inspired system of ingame intergration and features will allow players to with a click of a button
seamlessly connect to elite and send requests, recieve messages and challenges whilst in game.
Although many of the new features are still under wraps Activision are trying to start the hype machine now and rebuild gamers trust in elite,
later on in the year a new actual public beta is planned, where players will be able to give feedback that isnt ignored, and an open forum to
list ideas, and feedback that other beta testers can see and comment on, building what they hope will be a better expereince for all.
Systems are being built into elite from the start that will highlight "cheating" be it boosting by killing the same player repeatedly , or by analysing
how someone has moved in the game (ie gotten to a map reference that should be out of bounds normally).
one thing they have also included is a report feature that allows a player to report something in realtime in game for example if someone is
under the map a realtime report will log the offence and the system will highlight that a player is out of the map using x,y,z coordinates.boosting to
level up quicker eg by killing same person will also be reportable and the stats for that match will be "suspended" from the offending players profile.
During the suspended "stats" period" a warning will be sent to them by elite explaining their actions are being montiored.
Historical infomation from past games is also being added so players can compare various guns, stats ect from past cods, using this new infomation
all a player needs to do is tick two different weapons and there stats will show side by side for comparions, the same method can be used to
verify forum complaints that x weapon is better /worse than the previous incarnation in previous cods.
Everyone will have access to these features regardless of subscription level.
Benefits of getting "premium" elite have now changed , along with getting dlc early premium members will have access to playlists hosted on
everyones favourite forum topic dedicated servers. All premium operations, with prizes will also be hosted on these servers. This would ensure that all get a level equal playing field to compete on regardless of walmart selling internet access. There is an option for clans to "rent" for a
nominal monthly amount their own server from activison although this will be unranked on all platforms.
International players are also being catered for now , with challenges being staged at different times depending on local time, gone will be all
nighters as the operation/clan ops ect starts at 1am, instead there will be a time slot where you can decide which 3hr period you wish to compete in.
Elite will also off "a la carte"dlcs, if you just want spec ops or one particular map you will be able to, also new characterization options change the
look of your ingame characters outfit or gun camos you can buy that option just like people who waste money on the xbl avatars.
interestingly this was a feature alot of people asked for dont ask me why.
to level your charater will also give you cod points to spend in
the elite shop, again allowing those who dont want to spend real money the chance to
equip their characters with hot pink camos and a nifty personalised callsign and emblem.
Four new features that are confirmed as of writing are covert mode and a new groups systems, covert mode allows your elite stats to
remain "hidden" from other players, although im not allowed to post screenshots of the alpha build the stats instead of showing a number
only show a *redacted* symbol.
your elite profile will look like one of those old fashion army reports
Members who worry about their k/d ratios will obviously love this feature
Two of the new features deal directly with theatre or as its going to be called "coddywood", these allow players to upload an entire game and
have the ability to edit the footage into a deverstating micheal bayeque inspired work of art. upload your ready made intro so
everyone will be able to get some of that much sort after youtube moneyz as once its finished you can easily upload it to youtube.
Groups are also having a major revamp, gone is the pointless system and in its place a more social media orientated groups feature, players will
engage with the group with actual message boards, the group founder can add a description of the group and add link to a website of
the group and allows you the option of adding a social media broadcast sending a message to all those in the group who have facebook linked.
Gaining alot of members of your group now rewards that group with special one off ingame items like a special group inspired callsign,or emblem.
One major difference players will notice is groups will be able to customise their group page with special emblems and flair like clans can.
Realising that alot of players just bought elite for the dlc has made them go back and relook at its features and they are trying to make elite 2 a service
everyone wants for its features, not because they want to save $5 on dlc and be beta testers for glitchy maps and low populated playlists.
Another main change will be feedback and voting, where players can actually have their opinions of gamemodes in playlists listen to, so if you
like ffa you can say hey guys i want a ffa only playlist not some moshpit of gamemodes i hate thats not why i bought the dlcs.
looks like they intend to launch a massive media blitz to reinvent elite to the masses some of the early artwork ive seen carries the tagline
"you get control Elite.2 comming November 2012 (or later depending on technical issues)
