Start enforcing it. Its like you have your head up your butt, yes we all like new maps, but after reading the community forums and reading hacking problems exspecially on the wii, and xbox, we would rather see a level playing field, with no hacks before new maps and stats. If you are listening like you say you are then enforce your rules, hire mods that do something about the hacking. Is the problem these people are not getting reported? if thats the problem offer a link to report people. The more people you ban for cheating the more people that will think twice about trying it, trust me I've been thru this, ban an fix the issues develop ways to detect cheating should be your first priorty. After the ban ask the players how they did it or how they got the hack in the first place, let them rat each other out, in return for possible letting them play again.
Nice about time someone asks for a game fix instead of new maps or gamemodes.
Were you hear 3 months ago Soviet cookie
?
Anyway, I agree with The OP. Another thing I woud like to address is that I think we should have some more forum moderators. Wii bashing is annoying, and even though the moderators we have right now perform their job well, they have lives too. A few more would be nice to clean up the forums.
Its funny how they shut down a hacker list... but still dindt update the scripinting in the wii against hackers ( again i know )
Wait for christmas lol
Lol i just wait for the next january maybe we get a patch then... ow wait then they already forgot about this game ![]()
lol, it's IW
They talk a good banning game for 3 months, but then all their resources are put to the next failed copy n paste COD
Money in the bank.....=........no longer listening or caring
Same every year
I heard its impossible to ban people on Wii. Is that true???
Impossible? No. Worth their time, money, and effort? No.
One solution: You need Homebrew to hack for the most part. Nintendo could ban all consoles that have Homebrew installed with a Nintendo Update. A mandatory update. Obviously they have decided not to go that route.
Lol
it is indeed impossible.. i dont know where you got your info... the accoutns are seaved on the wii, not on a server like ps3/xbox/pc
I didn't use the word accounts in my post and what I stated is quite possible.
I LOVE HACKERS that created infected on wii ![]()
You said that you love hackers that created infected on wii, but you deleted the last part.
You just made the list buddy.
i hope its the to troll list
Ban people=lose money
Activision doesn't like that.
Activision already got their money when they bought the game...
@like2nap03 yeah but they wont buy the next game.
I'm almost postive you can't do a console ban, so hacking concerns are out. However, you can do what Monster Hunter Tri did, which was slightly different from a console ban. However, if you just reset your Wii you could bypass the ban, and if you backed up your save file, you lost nothing.
Without theatre mode, we can't properly verify cheaters/glitchers, so in the end we're just left hanging. However, we can do what Conduit 2 did, which was add a report button. Honestly if one person gets like 7/10 reports from every lobby he joins, he's probably hacking. But I think that without theatre mode, we can't verify someone that has been reported. So the hacker would have to have gotten like 1000 reports before they banned him, and by that time he would have had it for like an entire day of gameplay.
So there's no way to ip ban him from multiplayer? bs gotta be a way, and if there's a way for stats there has to be a way to identify a person they just need to program it. If they add check<Sums> in they could make a way to detect cheaters, Yes they can be figuired out but it takes a while for them to do that an once they miss the first one there banned and trying to figuire out why and how, I've been thru this on a game created back in the 90's that has better protection then this its sad really. And now after hearing Bob left activision i doubt anything will be done, time to buy a ps3. Going to really miss the wii remotes only thing i really enjoy about the wii.
I was thinking the same thing about the remotes. If they would develop any kind of motion control remote for the xbox or ps3 I would dump wii as of last week. The wii remote keeps me faithful even with all the problems that come with it.
you can ban the console by blocking the mac address. and not everyone that uses homebrew for hacking some need it to play the game.also its not true that you need homebrew because they are other "homebrews" out there that are not released.but you still don't need a homebrew to hack.
You can bypass the mac address ban by using a USB-to-Ethernet adapter. Every time a MAC address is banned, the hacker could just use a different adapter. Eventually, though, the cost would get prohibitive.
On the other hand, I've heard that spoofing a MAC address isn't that hard, but what do I know?
As for banning Wiis with homebrew, I'm sure a hack would arise out of the ashes that would "hide" homebrew. And if Nintendo issued a final OS update that disrupted homebrew, I'm sure that there would be a homebrew patch that would find another way around it.
The only thing that I use homebrew for is the savegame manager gx (sgmgx) so that I can back up my Wii's data and restore it to another one (or the same one) someday if I have an issue. I don't want to lose my RB3 downloads, my Wiiware, or my CoD profiles. Two out of three require me to buy the stuff - AGAIN - if I have to switch console units.
They could go so far as to brick Wii's that use Homebrew. No fixing that and yes that is quite possible as well. They chose not to for several reasons i'm sure.
Yeah I guess, but I use it for legitimate purposes (data backup). Never hacked a public or private match, and I never will. In fact, I will even call out teammates to others if I see them clearly hacking in the match. Then, I leave the match. Fight fair, play fair.
Yeah, I think the risk of pissing everyone off was too great for them to go that route. We can only hope that they learned their lesson and Wii U will be a more secure console with a system in place to stop hackers.
I was really interested in the discussion about the pros/cons of dedicated servers until it turned into a dick measuring contest. Thanks alot.
Fact 1. wii isn't gonna console ban homebrew there looking forward to the wii u, and activision probably doesnt have the authority to console ban. But Im pretty sure they could ip an/or mac id ban a player from cod. How because there is a server of some sort for initial login while your waiting for a host to play a game and game stats. Your not downloading from every user when u see who's ranked #1. So they could make it possible to ban you from entering. Even if they banned the ip and mac at least the guy wouldnt be able to keep ranking up on that mac, plus once they ban him it takes a while for him to spoof an ip an mac and having to do it over an over drives hackers nuts. Its all in creating a way to catch them. They should create a user login/pw as well at least the hacker wouldnt be able to use his same name. plus it would stop people from using the same name an then we could actually report that name.
Fact 2, Activision got rid of dedicated game playing servers to eliminate costs.
Fact 3. Fourzerotwo the one who wrote the ban comment above left activision. Some post and responces mentioning his name have even been removed hopeful this wont be one of them.
Question 1: Who's taking his place? because theres little communication now.
Question 2: Will this guy give us some answers even if there the ones we dont want to hear?
Question 3: How much will the hd wii u version cost? Yes i know the wii games are gonna play on the wiiu but if i have hd why would i not want to use it. Plus i dont want to play with wii players using homebrew, and i'm sure activision will want there cut....
My Guess on why 402 left is he probably got sick of having to listen and deal with hacker problems and not having dedicated servers just because activision wanted to save a buck. Yes there was also a dlc comment on maps and could of been another reason for his departure but im sure it was a buildup of things over time, you can bing the dlc comment yourself if your curious. If the wii version of mw3 gets a patch for hackers any time soon it will surprize me. You dont see anything mentioned about the wii even in the cod elite/calender/or even on this forum, now the wii u could be a different story. And now that there working on cod elite maps and clan stats + hacks for the xbox/ps3 how many coders do you think they have for a soon to be 1st gen nintendo wii...
comment for Godsmack: The original post wasnt about dedicated servers, but more the problem with activision and its choices. Goodband by the way.
