Tell Me about the MK14

I'm a killcam watcher. A lot of games I get whatever title it is people get for "watching the most killcams" or etc. Anyhow, this is how I learn, not only how I got dropped on, but what weapon was used against me. And lately, the Mk14 has been the weapon of choice when it comes to cutting me down (but, make no mistake, I don't discriminate when it comes to getting me killed, please feel free to use whatever you like!).
So I decided to give this thing a try myself last night. I must say, I think so far it is a beast weapon, provided you're not shy about creating your own ROF. My brother said it's basically a "one shot, one kill" weapon - not so sure that is the case unless CQ. Either way, it seems like a pretty forimdable AR and was wondering what y'all think about class setups and so forth. I unlocked Kick, but not sure it even needs it.
Thanks!
its mostly a 2 hit kill i love the MK14 always have done like in black ops, when i use the MK14 it feels really stiff just caus eyou cant spray n pray for a kill it takes a canny bit of skill to get a good streak going cause of the semi auto on it ![]()
Its funny you mentioned the semi-auto. For me, I think this gun will actually make me a better shooter, because I know I have to actually pull the trigger numerous times, not hold it down like an auto. It also means I have to be more selective of my shots I would imagine, right?
I love it my fav gun used a token i've had it gold 3 times i always run the same setup but it's your choice of the perks you like but i always run this
Scavenger Pro
Assasin Pro
Marksmen Pro,Dead Silence
Oh yeah, I can definitely see Scav Pro being used for this one given the amount of rounds. Good call on that one, thanks man!
No problem glad i can help
Great gun, and the only one I used a prestige token for so far. I run it with a red dot and silencer, extreme conditioning, assassin, and marksman. Makes for a great flanking class.
Thank you guys. I am going to try your setups, see how they do. The one thing about it is that it seems like it can be used for different situations and every map, provided you're quick on the trigger.
As always, I really appreciate the insight.
MK14 is a overpowered gun. I understand its a semi-auto but at close range people just kill you in one bullet. Even i used it to give it a try and i mostly won 8/10 gun fights. Lost against people using the PP90M1 and the FMG9's. I think they should put a small patch not to do nothning to the damage but to mess up its hip fire and for it to take longer to look down the sights.
~THE NOOB KILLER
It's only a OHK to the head (at medium range and under). Otherwise it's a 2HK out to medium range. After that it's a 3HK. It's hip fire is already bad.
You have to have good aim to do well with this weapon. Even then you need an excellent connection. Even in 4 bar lobbies many of my hits are not counted. It's not a wonder weapon. But if you have good aim, a good connection, and are fast...it can be a very good weapon.
Ok, this is important. Because many games lately, I am either 2 bar, 1 bar, or sometimes for a spell, no bar. I am really not good enough to do that well when my connection is bad, and it makes sense that a semi-auto would suffer in this environment. I'd hate for my connection to dictate my class, but it is what it is, I suppose. Thanks for the heads-up.
What about Steady Aim Pro on smaller maps?
Are you serious? Nerf the Mk14?
Have you used it in a laggy match, because it's damn near impossible to kill anyone. Also there's a firing cap on it so CQC is a b*tch. You don't get very much ammo with it either. In a nutshell the Mk14 is outclassed by everything inside of medium range
Yeah awesome gun, I don't tend to complain about OP weapons but I'm surprised the MK14 hasn't got more hate than the Type 95. In a word it's the shizznit, and it's pretty in gold! You're right, no need for kick really. I use RDS and extended mags. I usually run Blind Eye, Quickdraw, and Marksman. Perks are really more of a prefrence thing but with this gun the advantages of using Marksman is just insane.
I am going to try QD. My first setup with it was Blind Eye, SOH (I was using the SMAW), and Markman. And you're right about the Type 95. I personally like that gun (who doesn't?), but I can see why people rage over it. And the MK14 in decent range inflicts more consistent damage in my early experience with it.
Is it me, or does the Mk14 really lose some damage with silencer on?
It loses a ton of damage, you go from 2-3 shots to 4-5
The MK14 is one of my personal favoite guns. It has def made me a better smarter player. The MK14 and theType 95 are def the highest punch packing assult rifles and they should just leave them as they are. There are other guns that people can use to fend of the MK14 and type 9 so it isnt a big problem. A lot of times it takes me more than one shot to kill with the Mk 14 so its not like other people dont have a chance, they def do. i usualy run 2 different classes with the Mk14.
blind eye, assassin, dead silice when MK is silenced. call it my quiet class good for stalking around the map and working up a killstreak. 2nd i use extreme conditioning, quickdraw, marksman, when not silenced. run and gun class. and yes when u silence it, it takes away a lot of damge. it might not say it does, but from using it a lot you can tell. sometimes it takes 3 hits to kll. (keep Shooting till they hit the ground)
It's probably not seen/complained as much because, compared to the MK14, the Type 95 is a far easier-to-use weapon with its burst fire being able to kill people with 1 trigger pull at close to medium range and 2-3 at range whereas the MK14, outside of headshots, is a 2 shot kill up close and a 3-4 shot kill at longer ranges, so you have to time your shots instead of mashing the trigger over and over like with the Striker.
The MK14, with its semi-auto fire, despite its damage, accuracy, etc, is a weapon that takes a little bit of patience to get to use to because it's a weapon meant more for marksman and, unlike Sniper Rifles, you can't QS with it and such, so you can't exactly go running into CQC fights very much. But once you do start getting a feel for it, it's a very effective weapon, but a lot of players rarely have the patience for it and simply go down easy street (ACR, Type 95, MP7, etc)
its my fave weapon its good 2 shot kill 1 on HC
Great gun, add thermal, silencer and use marksman and it's a great gun for Black Box.
Awesome idea - can't wait to unlock thermal.
Make sure you put rapid fire on it. It eliminates the fire rate cap that's on the weapon. Now the only stat that's low, the 'fire rate' is now obsolete. Be prepare to be called a modder constantly, lol.
Will putting rapid fire take away any of the damage? Or do I compensate with Impact?
Add a MP9 silenced as a secondary a betty and a radar and you can lock down possition for 2-3 kills (4 cos someone come to get you and the betty gets them hah ha) and move on. There is very little air spam on Black box so perk 1 use a little run about put asassin in 2 slot to stay off the radar and kick a little arse!
Enjoy ![]()
Gallp13 my friend, now you know you are the reason I run Assasin Pro, don't you?! In Domination games, I run Blind Eye, but in other game types I've been switching to Scav Pro or SOH Pro.
I've mastered that baby, I get it gold halfway through a prestige, thats how much I use it
My best advice is a silencer and kick. Run specialist too, you're going to need Scavenger because you don't get much ammo with it. Play stealthy and find good vantage points to pick people off from a distances
You'll find the Mk14 very effective on all maps once you learn how to use it
The Mk14 is about the only weapon (besides shotguns, type95) that just royally pisses me off. I suck at one shot wpns and am unable to use this effectively. I would just wind up going like 2-100 if i used this gun. They seem to have been out in force the last couple days, but from what I have seen (from the killcam Lol) this gun is major beast. Outfitted with a suppressor.....damn near unstoppable.
At long and med ranges yes, short range HELL NO
Yeah, if a person is right near you, only way you win is if...
A.) That person is a noob/idiot who can't aim for his life, even at that range. (Ran into many such people with shotguns, SMGs, etc.)
B.) You get REALLY lucky spraying out bullets hipfiring (which I have done a few times, lol).
I got torn up in a game of KC on Overwatch by a dude with PP90. It drove me nuts, but so far for me, I haven't adjusted to using it CQ for sure!
YES - see, that is the reason I tried it. From my original post, I said I kept getting offed by a couple dudes using it. Always heard about, figured I'd see what the fuss was about. The upside for me using it is that I am (slowly) becoming more selective with my shots, which has improved my aim, which in turn I reckon might help me with other ARs or guns in general. Hopefully.
The MK14 is a great gun, most powerful and accurate AR I believe...
Don't assume that it is a 1 hit kill though. A headshot will ussually do the job in 1, but I tend to double or treble tap when I'm using it...
I think that it is more of a "Mobile Sniper" than a AR though...
I use Scav Pro, Hardline Pro, and MARKSMAN Pro if I put one on...
Attachments wise, you can't really go wrong with Red Dot and Suppressor or just a Red Dot and Kick...
I like the idea of RDS and Kick. The reason being that with the silencer, it seems I have to triple-tap almost always (but my connection hasn't been great during the XP weekend). On certain maps, I don't mind if my gun is heard, anyway. On other maps, then I'll probably break out the silencer, if that makes sense.
That makes perfect sense, if I go for the LOUD option, then I will usually use a Portable Radar and a Claymore/Betty for some advance warning...
Because you know they're gonna come...
If you are camping up, the MK14 works quite well with an ACOG, or if like me you get along nicely with Thermal sights, then they are great with it too...
Like a lot of people have said, the key to the MK14 is creating distance between your enemies and controlling the engagement. You can get away with win some CQ battles with it but more often than not you'll succumb to the fully auto's. I'm going to start using it on these new maps like Black Box and Liberation where there are some nice long sight lines.
As far as set ups are concerned, I think Marksmen is a must. I particularily like the Red Dot & Silencer combo the most.
MK14 is just another gun of the month, a fad. Next thing you knoweveryone will be using the AK or something. It's like society with clothes, buy the clothes that are in that month, whatever it may be.
I predict the M16!
Well, I don't know what guns become popular other than by reading the board. Like I said in the OP, I got knocked off by a couple of players by it and it seemed I had no answer for it. I've always heard the MK whispered about, but not really like I have most of the other weapons available.
