I was doing a ping test last night to actually see what everyone is going on about and notice from test to test my ping, packet loss were all over the place, so im assuming that having a 33% jitter isnt very good lol, on one text it even said I had 96% packet loss, this cant be good. Can anyone advise me please.
GHANDI, CAPP0.......................... anyone?
Hardwired?
Reset router?
DMZ or static ip on xbox?
If yes to all of the above, I would call your isp..
Thank you for the response, unfortunatley it is yes to all those.
Just go wireless so that the lag comp gives you preference. Problem solved!

Thats not going to help severe packet loss.
Take care of the problem don't try to address the symptom.
Network latency is very hard to take care of.
Try attaching a laptop directly to your ISP incoming line and repeat your test.
If you still have issue call your ISP.
If the test performs better it's your home network.
Log into your modem and see what your upstream and downstream lvls are. 192.168.100.1 should be the universal log in for your modem not router. You could have ingress or egress on your line meaning signal leakage. If you want post them up and I will tell you if that is something to consider
thank you oxjeminixo, I dont know how to post my results onto this site ( Im a bit of a beginner on the forums, (not on cod bare mind, lol)). But I will see what I can do.
Thanks again.

if 192.168.100.1 does not get you there.
You can try on a PC use the command "IPCONFIG" in a command prompt window.
This will return a bunch of info look for the one labeled Gateway.
Use that one.
If they didn't provide a username and password try
Username = admin password=admin or password
You would be surprised how many times this works.
That is how you find router login I just need him to log into ISP modem and just right them down and post em
Thats a lot of packet loss. I would contact your IP.
Will do cowboy,
and no talking about jace lol.
I actually became dumber after being involved in that thread. A difficult thing to accomplish.
Jitter isn't necessarily a bad thing. Basically, take a 50ms ping--with 50% jitter, all that means is your highest/lowest individual ping was 25ms plus or minus from 50. You shouldn't have any problems in that specific area as long as your ping stays below 150ms. Anything over that starts making it virtually unplayable. Sub 100ms is where you want to be though.
As for packet loss--thats not good. One packet here or there won't kill you, but your numbers signify a problem somewhere. An internal connection issue (wires, cables, plugs, modems, routers) would do this so start there just to save headaches with isp when you contact them. If that doesn't help, then it's either an external line issue or just isp overload--both of which are out of your control.
What type of internet? Any routers or modems?
Mich, I have virgin media 50mb/10upload. I think I need to conntact them by the sound of it.
Thanks for the tips.
@starbuck , yes mate I did try nearly every server on the site lol, and there were better results but the majority were very bad.
Thanks peeps.
Also try going to different servers when you do your test. When I got to San Marcos 25 miles away I get very poor results due to the low quality lines. But if I choose Dallas or Corpus I will get a perfect "A" on my connection. Some connections depend on which provider that it goes thru. Thats why San Marcos sucks on those tests. Grande Communications sucks and always give me a ping of 80 or above. Going to Austin gives me a ping of 15 to 35 depending on certain factors.
It is always best to check different places around the US to check quality. And try not to test Utah area as a choice. My ping there is always 150 to 200 ![]()
Mormon restrictor plates on ping.
Lmao Mormons kill me they restrict everything but the amount of headaches...I mean wives you can have.
@starbuck
Im in the UK mate.
Also trying taking your router out of the equation and plug your xbox directly into your modem to eliminate any "extra" equipment. I would still make a call to your isp and demand they come out and test your conection
Squirells are trying to sabotage your connection!![]()
I have sadly enough encountered these squirrels you speak of face to face 20+ ft in the air while strapped to the ladder and wire strand. These devilish little bastards are dangerous and will try to spawn trap you and then destroy your line. "shutters" I still have a hatred for them even when I see them on the ground.
