questions for CoD veterans, especially those on the hd consoles

Bare with my complaints before my questions:
MW3 on the Wii is still broken due to lag compensation. The Wii kids don't realize that if you don't descriminate against where you're clanmates play from your pings will likely be completely ridiculous. MW3 enforces their poor ping on the entire lobby making this game unplayable as soon as a party enters. A single 2 bar player ruins the game and lag is still noticable unless at least 3/4 of the lobby has 4 bars (the remainder having at least 3). Because of parties this 4 bar scenario rarely occurs.
As the game exists the most effective strategy is to lay down a portable radar and upon seeing a red dot making sure you turn the corner before your opponent does. Because of lag (whether this is due to the inevitable reality of high ping or is something intentionally enforced on other players) you can unload half a magazine into someone before they even have a chance to respond. It is not unusual on the Wii to die... wait... AND THEN see your oppenent turn the corner and fire into you.
Something is broken. 3 bar lobbies need to be at least playable and there should be an option to disallow parties with pathetic pings from entering your lobby.
My questions:
I know I'm not the first to complain about lag compensation and I know that the other consoles have had patches addressing it. Has this fixed the gameplay? Is there a chance that Wii CoD can be salvaged?
Also, this is my first CoD. Has lag always been such a problem? I have a hard time believing this series became as popular as it is with the state of play I'm seeing.
Try COD4 for lag. ![]()
I guess I must get on the fortunate side of the lag compensation most of the time... I really don't think the lag is that terrible unless somebody from across the pond is hosting (BEASTBLOOD), I usually can tolerate the compensation that I do notice because most of the time it doesn't affect the outcome of gun on gun battles. At least for me lol
My son has a PS3 and yes they have the same lag issues. Not to the extent of the Wii but yes there is an issue with them as well. Being that your new to COD then for you it may be difficult. Having played all the COD titles on the Wii this is a breath of fresh air compared to WaW and COD4 reflex. In those two games you would actually have to lead your shots and try to predict where your enemy was going. That made it quite hard to play initially. Then once we got used to that then Black Ops came out. Black Ops is when they started to try and get rid of the lag. Black Ops did a good job and MW3 has improved a little more with the exception of lag compensation. Overall you do get quicker kills on the PS3/Xbox360 due to higher end gaming consoles but they do experience the lag compensation as well.
Just from playing past ones I think the game develops gave the mw3 a little bit more chance for someone turning a corning to shoot you then a person sitting there waiting to kill someone corning around the corner. Which is kinda nice. In past games you couldnt even stick your head out for a sec without dying now you can.
I suppose I've put way too many hours into MW3 so I'm able to notice what kind of engagements give you an advantage when there's noticable lag (UAVs and portable radars are your best friend). I wish there was a '"local only" option when selecting a game type so that lag could be minimized.
If anyone has played Goldeneye on the Wii, it's solution to lag was to give both players a kill if both players killed eachother within a certain window determined by the ping of the particular lobby. This meant both players died. While initially strange this at least gave you a reason to fight back when someone got the jump on you.
Back to MW3: I've found that that there is a narrow window between about 5 and 8 pm where it's possible to find one of those near complete 4 bar lobbies. After 8 the clan parties take over and you're lucky to get two 4 bar players in your lobby.
Here's to hoping the matchmaking improves next patch... not getting my hopes up.
And matchmaking is far more faster on Wii. I went to a friend's house and all you see is "FINDING MATCHES 0/50" for like 20 seconds. On Wii, you can find one in less that 5 seconds (on my connection).
Lag compensation is on ALL consoles. Without it, we would have a Cod4. (Wouldn't bother me.)
Without it? was it in blops???
Well i agree i hate l compensation... :/
