just wondering if anyone else out there like me switchs their mic off and if so why?
EDIT: When playing without a party
I do the reason is because I swear alot when things don't go my way. I hate it when I hear someone else in my team scream "bull ****", "thats not fuckin happend" "oh come! I had him" or something along those lines. so to respect the hear of my team mates I will turn my mic and spare them the abuse I usually scream!
i'm always in a party, even if its just me.
I mute my mic and turn off the voice chat volume because of people yelling, and my own yelling at times. Its easier just to not hear any voice chat.
I do it for the same reason but i have others. If no one on my team has a mic why talk? Also its fun just to listen to people without them knowing.
I don't talk unless my team is talking. They really should take the party chat option out of Domination.
Removing party chat will do nothing. Players would switch to "friends only" and use the lobby as a chat room. That solves nothing. My whole group did that in MW2 and we would do it again.
Not everyone in every lobby is playing with a group though.
yes, but taking away the party chat will not increase communication. You can't force players to talk...
They don't need to talk, only listen. I don't care if the scrandies I play with talk, as long as they can hear callouts and not be total retards. Besides, I love hearing people rage when I smear them.
Thats the point. None of my friends or I want to hear someone barking commands, rapping or trash talking. The community treats its members very poorly in general and I would rather miss a good conversation with one player then bear listening to 100 other players making an ass out of themselves.
And this is why my team wins public matches 98% of the time, because the other team is too dumb to communicate like a team. I kinda love when people on the other team don't talk, as it makes it easier for me to wipe the whole team and get another soft MOAB.

couldn't agree more and thats why I turn my mic off. I'd rather come across as quiet but a decent player than jackass who won't shut up
I use it usually when playing with my clan and thats about it. When I am playing solo I don't use it unless there is someone who actually likes to communicate for tactical reasons.
I am actually dying to use it for that reason. When I am in a party, great. But even solo, there are times when I am tempted to turn my mic on because it will seem like someone on my team is actually speaking about game-related things. But that doesnt happen enough.
Yeah, unfortunately about 75% of game chat seems to be people yelling at each other in the lobby, then people yelling during the game (myself sometimes included if I forget to mute the ole mic).
No one ever seems to talk tactical, and also I often game in a more public location so I keep the volume off.
99% of the people who do talk I am sorry but they have diahrea of the mouth... All their failues in life just ooze out and plague your ears with imbecilean comments, inundane chatter, etc...
I have almost given up doing submit reviews.... Their are too many freaking kids and imbeciles...
I mute it so people dont listen to me swear at the game and i turn the volume down or mute people because i dont want to hear them sing or rap or hear little kids yelling.
Whats the deal with your GT you couldn't get Pliskin? Or is that your real last name or something. Love Escape from New York bro!
If my "team" is talking then I'll leave it on and talk when I can.
But lets face it, that never happens. No one talks anymore. I can't tell you the last time I heard "guy back by a behind the car" or "just got killed by 3 moving towards the stairs near our spawn" or anything of strategic importance during play. It's all smack talk, cursing or some idiot playing loud music into their mic, so my mic is almost always off, volumn off so I can't hear any of the aforementioned dribble.
Actually... the last time I DID offer strategic input into my headset I was told by a teenage sounding person to "STFU". Reeeeaaaaallly.

Funny.
Did you follow him around shooting into the air? HAHA! I have never done this, but have seen it done.
LOL! Yup, that sounds about right. Too much douchery with randoms. I'll mute everyone unless I'm playing with friends, where I'll mute everyone but my friends.
The only time I'll leave everyone unmuted is if I've had a six-pack of beer before I started playing; then the random douchery can sometimes be funny.
I really wish there was a preference where you could set the default to "MUTE ALL" and then you could quickly unmute just your friends. Then as people leave the lobby and others enter, you're not having to take the time to mute the new players.
lol, i talk when i play with some friends, i talk when it seems im the only one communicating as well. sometimes i turn off my mic if it gets rage inducing, but i ve noticed if you keep talking, more players eventually will talk back. if you can get a coupe of players talking then the game goes a lot smoother in my experience.
yeah i do the same, i take my mic out when im not playing with friends/clan. Usually because the community are a bunch on ******s lol
Most who mike in Aussielobbies are squeakers....gallp doesn't like Beiber renditions.
Everyone's always yelling, screaming, playing what they think is great music through their headset, it's a nightmare. F@g this f@g that...f you, etc...I like my peace & quiet.
Most of the time I play solo I just unplug my mic. I've got a headset so it still allows me to hear my teammates and more importantly hear the killcam rage. I tend to be a magnet for hatemail and people tend to be less verbally abusive after a match when the guy that just stomped them doesn't have a mic.
This is advice I need to follow.....I don't get pissed at the other players and cuss but I get pissed at myself and the lag and I can cuss up a storm.
Good advaice...because you're right....I hate it when the crybabies start in and I don't want anyone thinking me being pissed at myself is me crying.
I wasn't running a headset till tonight, some meatball of an older voice started cursing up a storm. He was displeased with my strategic camping so I pluged the headset in so my wife and younger boys did not half to hear him describe what my mom should do to me with her you know what. It was very funny he just kept making a run for me and I kept moving around watching my flag like a good little boy while helping out with B and man oh man was he angry. So point I am trying to make is I listen but I won't talk unless in a party, which is rare.
But If I could add, is it me or is their alot of smack on live lately, holy cow sure hope their are no priest or anything like that playing. Man their are some potty mouths out their.
Call of Duty isn't one of those games where communication really matters. And when it comes to me, I usually mute my mic since I will rage a lot when playing by myself.
I dont even use my head set when not in a party. No reason too, most of the players seem not to care or listen. Plus I do not want to hear the squeakers, the tweens singing and the moaners crying about how the game is going. Or the fool of tools smack talking about their l33t skills in the game.
