Does anyone know of a decent way to up your PING to about 120MS?
I am sick of getting host and owned by lag compensated noobs.
Ummmmmm up.?
Find the cheapest ISP you can. They are working on the lag compensation so you could also wait.

there are numerous posts about ping and hosting i suggest you use search and read a few as you have gotten it completely wrong
You don't want host?
Maybe open a few You Tube vids on your laptop while Matchmaking?
I can take my 4 bar down to a 3 bar by simply turning on the Wifi switch on my laptop...
My intel is: don´t play with open nat, besti thing would be moderate, it all depends on the standard settings your router has.
With moderate nat you still have your good connection but you´re NOT the host ![]()

actually your wrong there buddy, changing your nat type will only screw up getting into parties and chatting with ya friends and make matchmaking slightly longer , it has no effect on your connection and wont stop you getting host if you are the best host in the lobby, consoles with an open nat type can communicate just fine with ones with a moderate nat .
LOL, I only get in to 100ms 125ms games because I play the game over a wifi connection. My Xbox Elite is wifi connected only.
PS: it doesen´t matter (if you have a good wlan router with only few space between xbox and router) if you play with wlan or cable...
not possible - don´t buy Call of Duty again is the only thing you can do.
anything is possible....
it´s not possible to influence your ping so you get an advantage. Only up and download can be changed.....
Really? Let me point in a different direction...here is a piece of software I use at work to introduce latency, packet loss and bandwidth per connection. Plus I can even control if its outbound or inbound traffic I want to change.

Key features
- Runs on any PC with Windows 2000 or higher (32-bit or 64-bit).
- Restricts connection speed.
- Imitates fixed or variable latency.
- Simulates packet loss, duplication and reordering.
- Supports multiple simulation profiles.
I applaud the effort here, but it really sucks that this game requires such a program to run smoothly.
IW, you suck. Fix your terrible broken game. ![]()
Using a program such as that to influence your connection would be considered cheating.
I never said I use it for XBL. My current role is a Linux production System Admin and I have to use programs like this to QA products and environment settings along with I/O stats. Just because I know something is out there doesn't mean I use it.
Nah nah nah. You misunderstood. I was saying if you were to be able to use a program to do that, using it would be cheating. I should have been more clear. Also, the OP was most likely looking for a way to artificially give himself an advantage by increasing his ping. Telling him how to do it=bad?
I didn't tell him how to do it just stated that there are programs to do it, which a simple google search would have shown that. Now if I told him how to connect device A to device B and make the following changes then yes it would be bad.
I really hope they get the issue resolved. IMO the lag compensation is a built-in lag switch for players with a poor connection. They talk about being fair but yet their code lag switches players in the lobby.
You could change your UL speed via the QoS settings on your router to be below 0.7. That would reduce your chances of getting host, while not artificially attempting to give yourself a connection advantage. But given your original post, you probably shouldnt be messing about with your router settings, you could mess something up.
Ask your internet provider if they have 56k available. Then link your Elite account with your AOL email.
I haven't messed with any settings and I only tend to get lag when I have to be party
Leader and someone in my parties connection blows. I think there is more to the lag comp then anyone will know. I have logged 15 days played and seen people host and have no lag and I have also seen lag jump in between players during matches. If I was you unless u absolutely know how they have it and the variables that go into it I wouldn't touch it.
Download porn. Double win.
