If you don't care about the emblems or aren't desperate for more custom classes, then why should you prestige?
Prestige isn't integral to multiplayer. It is a scheme to artificially extend the life of the game, because people will start to drift away from games that they feel are "completed".
Prestige also arguably exists to counter the rapid rate of awards and advancements that the devs also implement to keep people playing. The dedicated players get to play the same thing ten times over (for a shiny new/recycled emblem that they can show off to others to show how much they played the game), while everyone gets from two to twenty "rank up"/challenge/unlock/whatever messages per match.
Now the devs even have a new trick. They are adding additional prestige levels some time after release. Why? Because the dedicated players already maxed out their prestiges a while back. If 15 prestige had been available from the start, they would have long maxed that just as they did 10. But now the devs realized they could start with 10, then toss out 5 more some months later, keeping player interest as the dedicated players now have to do those extra 5. (With the extra bonus for life extension that such players will also have to repeat any post-prestige activities, like getting gold on every weapon or trying to fill out as many challenges as possible.) Somewhere in the next 3-6 months, we may very well likely see the prestige count raised to 20, just to get those players to do it again.
