I am not saying this is true, it is merely an observation I found. Post your opinion on what you think. I could easily be way off, it's just too similar to not think it is a possiblity.
Edit: Obviously IW took their own map from IW, I just wanted to show people this. I mean, it's kind of interesting.
MW2 stole Favela from CoD4, so this isn't a surprise to me.
and invasion
Let's see IW made mw2 and mw3 ? how is that stealing?Eatherway ativision owns all , they can let iw take blackops maps if they wish.
It's not stealing. It's pure laziness on IW/SH's part.
Let's take unused **** from a 2 year old game, tweak it, then re-release it! Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh!!! The console kiddies will eat it up!!!!
10 million dollars later, same re-hashed ****, nothing new.
Congrats guys. ![]()
Why does it matter? What's the point of creating a brand new map when there's a perfectly good one to be used?
Well I'm basically asking you guys if you think it's wrong that they didn't release it for MW2, or why do you think they didn't? Or if this is even the same map.
Why does it matter? Surely ye jest.
Hmm. new content, or re-hashed content you've already seen. So they added a few new boxes to a map, and splashed an already used texture on it. Big whoop.
Do you make it a habit to pay a movie theater admission fee to watch a movie you've already seen?
No? Thought so. Same concept, different scenario. And, if you need me to elaborate further, I'll summarize by saying this:
Paying for content that's already been used.
Your argument is serverely flawed.
Did they release this map on MW2? Nope!
Did I pay for this map previously? Nope!
This content has never been released, never been seen, never been used. People will find anything to complain about these days.
My argument is flawed? Try re-reading yours.
If you could point out why it is flawed, I'd be glad to.
"Did they release this map on MW2? Nope!"
Ok, they didnt release it in the traditional sense. Maybe it was locked on the DVD, and unlocks via steam/xbl/psn when you buy the DLC.
"Did I pay for this map previously? Nope!"
Here's where your wrong. You paid for the assets (assets include: ai scripts - the path the chopper takes, or the path the strafing choppers take, for example.. character models, map/wall textures, mount points - the "press F to jump" indicators, etc) used to make the map.
It's no different than ordering a steak & eggs dinner at Denny's (or wherever). You're paying for the ingredients.
That brick wall you're aiming at? It's a 3 dimensional box with a brick texture slapped on it.
That building you just threw a flashbang at? It's a tall, 3d box with windows cut out, and a brick texture on the outside, wood paneling texture on the inside.
Textures, that were re-used from the SP portion of the game.
Again, same concept, different scenario
So, please. If you truly think that the dev's are creating these maps from scratch, well... I gotta bridge in Brooklyn I'll sell you too, along with some waterfront property in Arizona.
"This content has never been released, never been seen, never been used. People will find anything to complain about these days."
I'm pretty sure I just outlined how they've been previously seen & previously used. Let me re-read what I just wrote. Yeah... I did.

Good quality post man. I enjoyed reading that.
WTF kind of argument is that? Why is any of that stuff relevent?
It wasn't locked on the DVD, for a start.

I don't see how any of that is relevent at all.
The textures, the models, etc on this map I have never purchased. Maybe there will be a couple of recycled things, but that's to be expected. The point still stands. I have never paid for this map.

I know what you meant. When I ran a modded CoD 4 server, I found some really nice maps from MW2 that were ported over, (Favela, and the submarine base) as well as expansions of prior maps (I found a nice expanded map of the Pripyat mission)
Sorry I wasn't really replying to you. I thought your comment was informative, lol. I meant to reply to WantedMan.
It's cool man. I cant find the quote button, so it makes direct replies a little more.. unusual, lol.
yet another example of why this is a copy and pasted game
How do you steal a previously unused map? You haven't paid for it before. You've never played it before. It may not be a new map, but it's new to you.
Vinny, know when to pick your fights. Come on. This isn't even worth it. I'm glad it's coming to life.
@Anoreo: I already explained where he already paid for the maps. Not my fault if he can't understand a simple statement.
*shrugs*
Do you make it a habit to pay a movie theater admission fee to watch a movie you've already seen? Vinny your scenario is flawed because if you ever watch a sequel to a movie then you pretty much did exactly what you said.
I haven't been to a movie theater in.... christ, at least10+ years.
So, to answer your question: no, I don't pay a movie theater admission.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this by now. This whole Vertigo map thing is old news. That picture of "Vertigo" is part of a faked video that was supposedly leaking a MW2 map pack #3 but as it turned out that was actually a picture taken from Army of Two :The 40th Day multiplayer map called Vertigo.
If anything IW copied from Army of Two but does it really matter? Rarely does anyone come up with something 100%. Inspiration is always taked from somewhere else and paired with original ideas.
I love the look of this map. Unfortunately I just hate this game now and will not be willing to fork out any more money for content.
I always suspected all the DLC maps were made and finished before launch, and they just pretend that they are designing the maps on player feedback.
Now they are just taking scrapped maps from MW2, which they've already done with several maps in MW3 (see Outpost).
I actually agree with this with MW2 and MW3, but Cod4, WaW, and Blops it seemed like they took the time to make the maps after the game was released.
very common tactic used in gaming and hell even movies these days. People like things they know. So its easy to trick ppl.
The biggest example is them releasing infected and drop zone. They didnt have to make new game modes just move them to live servers lol. I bet when they add guns they will just take them from the other games and tweak it.![]()
Really good point, I can't wait until they make a new game and actually use new content.
I wouldn't call it laziness on IW's behalf - if they made they maps, then kudos to them!
I'm sure they've more maps in their bank already for future uses too.
Its still a new map because it was never released, evan if it was supposed to be a mw2 map . it does not matter either way,
I guess, but it could have been released with more effort back then if this is true. Then they could supply you with even more content now.
I for one wish they would clean up fix the bugs and re-release all of the old maps from all of the previous versions and have a playlist called "memory road".
I would love to take a stroll down "Memory Road"...
Yeah, release them for free though. ![]()
so somehow there is way to get on top the crane/scaffolding
I would say that we have never had that map anyway, so why is it a bad thing, but the "vertigo" pic looks NOTHING like Overwatch, it not the same shape, size or anything along those lines.
I never said it was a bad thing, I just wanted your guys opinion. And it's cool that you don't think it looks the same. I wasn't sure.
its highrise,i think your talking about combat arms and about their map called vertigo which looks like highrise
