Ballistic Vests

Is this the next thing people are going to say is OP?  I can't tell you how many people I heard last night complaining about these things, can't say that I haven't at times as well but it was overboard last night.

I figured for the most part it was becuz a guy I was running with, he runs Support with just a UAV and Ballistic Vests, nothing higher.  He has like a 2.5 KDR so he gets a lot of kills thus he throws vests out all over the place.  This obviously helps when you are on a team of randoms and paired up with people who don't put up good numbers, that vest can help someone survive an explosion or even win a gun fight by being able to take that 1st bullet and not die - this is in HC.

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed all the complaining on the mic or in hate mail about Ballistic Vests?  Or do some people even consider them to be noobish?  What's the consensus?

This is CoD, everyone complains about everything. Get used to it.

The striker for example, you only notice when someone kills you with it, you never notice when you kill someone who is using it.

People complain about anything, but tbh there is a lot to complain about in this game.

That would be the over load of killstreaks once again and the support package.

    Re: Ballistic Vests

people just love to moan. ive never heard people call it overpowered. the guys moaning probaly died on a killsteak by a guy using it. so 1st response is to call it OP. i could see how it could be OP in HC but i never play it so ive got no opinion on that.

since i tend to play with random people and i'm a team player i always have the BV so i can drop it for my team to use. I don't care when the other team crys about me using it because when there're put on the same team as me as soon as i drop them down they pick them right up

BVs legit dont seem to do anything when I use them.  I get a red screen maybe a little more often, but half the time I'm alive and then dead as if I was in hardcore.  No red screen, the BV didnt do ****. **** the lag comp.

I use that setup because you get a ton of EXP.  Each vest gets you 200 exp for a drop and 50 exp for each person that picks one up.  Right after a prestige that setup can net me 8k exp per match and levels super quick.  Also, in HC they are pretty tight.

so true and when you combine the BV in kill confirm you get even more xp. One thing i do in KC is i never pick  up the dogtags of my kills i leave them for my team members because when they pick them up we both get the xp from it.

    Re: Ballistic Vests

At worst sweater vests are a little annoying. However people are really quite accurate about many things that are labeled OP. When you can use a secondary weapon as a primary it might be a little OP. *cough FMG9's cough*

Let's not forget that the devs build this game for 2 years straight and they may get a little bit of tunnel vision when it comes down to the millions of balancing issues they have to manage. They DO miss things and they DO make mistakes. We aren't the bad guys for pointing them out when we notice them.

    Re: Ballistic Vests

I don't think they're OP at all, I'm pretty sure they can be destroyed by a knife or something anyways so that no one can collect from that vest cache anymore? The only thing about it that makes people mad is how unpredictable it can be. Not every one actually puts one on, so usually you just run into the random guy that has it on and you're not ready for that so you might loose the gun fight.

Personally I think they're great, and I love having them in the game. Perfect for a low support streak, I don't see them used that often, and even less often do I see people actually putting them on which I don't understand... (unless of course they're dropped in a stupid area and it's more dangerous to get the vest).

I just hate when peeps drop them in dumbass areas that are more risky to grab, than to have. On that note, in the beginning, the yellow/orange haze it puts on you would screw me up for some reason. I felt it limited my view.....anyone else feel this way at first(obviously not anymore)????

Yeah, I do think that gold haze that fills up your peripheral vision is annoying. They should take it out and just make something like a health bar appear next to the Killstreak bar or something so you know how much damage it can take before it's gone (which really doesn't feel like all that much to me).

          Re: Ballistic Vests

Or just do it the way they do the body armor icon in Spec Ops, with a little shield and number next to it at the bottom of the screen. When it's gone, you know you don't have any more body armor.

I always throw out ballistics vests when I'm playing my support classes, and the yellow tunnel vision is very distracting to me. Not as bad as blast shield in MW2, but close.

The only thing I do not like is when you get a headshot on someone with a sniper... and they don;t die because they were wearing a vest..

    huh!?

    Re: Ballistic Vests

IMO, they're fine in Core. But after playing Hardcore Search and Destroy for a while, I think they are pretty overpowered. I don't know exactly how much extra health you get, but it feels like you get a little over double the health.

Like I said, I think it's fine in Core, as it only adds 1 bullets extra worth of health. But in Hardcore I have hit people 4 times and still get by them killed when they only hit me once.

Youtr last sentence says "LAG" all over it.  You totally invalidated your argument.

(although I do get annoyed when playing in HC and the other team have BVs all over the place... but when you know they are doing it, just adapt and keep shooting).

        Re: Ballistic Vests

Not really. I can tell when it's lag. When I shoot 10 times and none of my shots even fire to the other person.

What I am talking about is when I shoot a person 5 times and then stop shooting(assuming he is dead because it's hardcore and I just got 4 hitmarkers), then he turns around and shoots me once. Ballistic vest just seems to give you over double the health in Hardcore.

Quick question, do Balistic Vests prtect your head too. I've seen many times where I'm aiming down my variable zoom and get a hit marker on the head. It could be bad hit detection but since it happens so often I wasn't sure

I find it strange that people don't pick them up more often.   I ran only vests and dropped 3 all over the map and only two people picked them up.

A lot of people are probably under the impression that if they stop for even a moment, they'll get gunned down or something...these days, with how horrid the spawning is, it's not surprising, but I've picked them up when I could if I was near them

          Re: Ballistic Vests

Yeah, I sometimes like to use Ballistic Vests and/or SAM Turrets to lure enemies in and ambush them (a Claymore, Bouncing Betty, C4, I.M.S., and/or Remote Sentry in the way doesn't hurt either, lol). Call it camping if you want, but it works pretty well as people tend to get tunnel vision when they see an enemy SAM Turret on their radar.

Especially given people these days rarely fall for the Airdrop Trap except for newer/less experienced players. How people use them doesn't help either, purposely throwing it down into an opposing team's more concentrated area, making it obvious that it's a trap since you're giving it to them. I tend to try to use it in a more "neutral" area, near the opposing team's area but not in it, then defend it and make it LOOK real until I die or am "driven off", they're usually convinced it's legit and them *BOOM!* lol.

That's another fun thing about the Riot Shield, you can open such things without fear as the shield will block the explosion, lol.

            Re: Ballistic Vests

When I run support, I run uav, ballistic vest, and recon drone.

So much more xp with the recon drone. Even if I go negative, I'm usually at the top of the leaderboard.

Anyway, I find the ballistic vest works good. I die the same amount, but it's fun to use.
