Treyarch is working on Combat Training for the DLC drop for new game mode.

This is what we have been hearing today. If you remember, Robert Bowling saying all the companies Infinity Ward/Sledgehammer Games/Raven/Treyarch are all working on DLC for Modern Warfare 3, it makes sense Treyarch would be working on this "new game mode" which is going to be Combat Training (bots for offline play). No word yet if its going to be like BLOPS, just free for all and team deathmatch, hopefully more multiplayer modes, CTF would be awesome. Now the question is, theres 2 new game modes on there 9 month DLC calendar....so will it be out firsat or second? So whats the other game mode?

    Disappointed.

      No...

      If you already bought Elite, then you're getting these as part of your subscription. Regardless, you'll still be saving money on the maps, so I'd consider this more of an added bonus.

          For all your genius ... buying Elite makes the DLCs considerably cheaper.

            erm does it really? you sure about that? from where im sitting it works out more but you get a few more things and a few maps early for your money.. guess it comes down to perspective

            for me

            so content season we are getting 12 maps.. thats the usual 3x4map dlc each dlc is 1200mspoints elite is 4000 mspoints.. 3 map packs is 3600 mspoints erm thats more

            oh look they added new game modes to the content season could have sworn community playlist stuff was one of the free hyped things the stealth clown ranted on about before release..

            spec op mission and possible sp missions meh dont like spec ops sp was vastly dissapointing

            and we we got so far two maps one of which has so many rock glicthes and out of map exploits it makes fuel look like a work of perfection... buying elite for the dlc turned into buying a pig in a poke imo

            oh and op where did you hear this rumour as i doubt very much its true

              And to think I've actually defended some of your positions. You know, if someone is wrong about something, they are wrong. No problem. Being a dyck any chance you get, though, is a pure has-been characteristic.

              In any case, let's see what you said here ...

              so content season we are getting 12 maps.. thats the usual 3x4map dlc each dlc is 1200mspoints elite is 4000 mspoints

              For starters, it is a total of 20 pieces and that's how you have to figure it if you want to compare it to historical perspective. Because per piece, the range of cost is from $3.00 per piece to $3.75 per piece.

              A regular copy of MW3 can be bought for $50. The Hardened Edition can be found for $80. That means that the DLC costs $30. 20 pieces, $30 = $1.50 each.

              That's a savings of 50%.

              Yeah, I'd call that "significant."

              But let's look at what you really meant. $60 vs $50 ... yep ... "only" a $10 savings. 20%.

              20% is also significant.

              Either way, you can send me $10 every time you think, "Meh, $10 savings is nothing" or just send me 20% of every dollar you spend in a year's time. I'll take either.

              It adds up and that's why, in pretty basic economic terms, if you can save $10 - you should.

              Everyone that complains about how many millions Activision makes off this game can blame themselves. It takes only 100,000 people buying it one DLC at a time for them to gross $1 million. Reading this thread, no doubt there will be more 100,000 that do it the "smart" way of one DLC at a time.

              And some of you opining buying Elite is stupid turn are supposed to be believable about your other complaints???

              That's a COD wtf moment.

          Indeed. As an adult I do find this kind of stuff in the DLC a bit insulting. If this was a PEGI 7+ Pokemon game and I was 10 then yeah, cool/wicked/awesome, but as a grown up... gtfo and give me maps and playlists!!!

          The DLC you will be buying will have the new game modes in the DLC. so you WILL be paying for them in either case.

          PS Since you bought MW3 you bought broken software

    I think that would be pretty awesome to have Combat Training in MW3.  I'm pretty bad at multiplayer, so with black ops I played combat training up to level 50, but multiplayer only to like 30.  I'm a little better in MW3, but still, combat training would give me some more replay value out of it.

    (and I got the hardened edition, so $40 for Elite + all DLC = good deal)

    Wouldn't mind have bots in a combat training arena.

    My time away from multiplayer in BLOPS was playing against hardened bots in combat training.

    I understand they have survival mode & smarter AI but I'm sure they can bring the smarter AI into a TDM/FFA scenario with difficulty ranging from increased health for bots or giving them all the perks in the game (specialist bonus) etc.

    How about we let Treyarch add in their stat records??? I'd be willing to pay for that over any other new game mode or map. I'd love to look at my combat record like I could in Black Ops. If there is one thing I want in the next game, it's that.

    Of course at this point we are all still waiting on the OPs proof.

    I dont think its going to happen for this reason...

    IW "owns" Survival mode. Thats why it wasnt in Black Ops.

    TreyArch "owns" Combat Training.

    I may have this misworded or wrong but I think it makes a difference toward getting a different type of "offline mode" in each iteration of the series. Having the same offline mode in each iteration would make that part of the game go sour in a week.

    If i worked for 3arc...i'd stay as far away from being associated with this huge POS as possible lol.  Guilt by association and all that haha.  Maybe they are lucky they arent developing maps for online mp play.  Another thing...why is everyone saying saving 10-15 bucks over indiv dlc purchases makes the elite service worthwhile? ( I am assuming the dlc is individually priced around $10.00) That averages to a cple bucks a month of savings at best.  Hardly seems "worth it" to this consumer considering the sluggish performance of the elite service.

      When's the last time you bought DLC for CoD?  Map packs haven't been $10 since CoD4/WaW.

      Activision has already confirmed in the latest Elite trailer that they're selling the map packs for $15 a pop.  It was also announced at CoD XP that if you bought all the DLC via the map packs instead of Elite that you would be paying $60.  Elite costs $50 so therefore you'll be saving $10 if you buy Elite..

        Not denying you in any way, I just like to see the wording for itself. You got a link or something on the latest  trailer ? or the name of it ? Last one I saw was the announcement of the first two maps. since then I have been busy getting a portion of peoples tax refunds to fix PCs

        It just seems weird that they would put out 4 map packs for the non Elite people. Especially one map pack every 6 weeks or every two months. It would make more sense to put out 3 map packs. Otherwise it seems like a ripoff. But see below please showing it may not.

        I am just thinking like it this way... (NE = non Elite Premium) (E = Elite Premium)

        Jan = 2 peices (E)

        Feb = 2 peices (E)

        March = 2 peices (E) / 5 peices (NE)

        April = 2 peices (E)

        May = 2 peices (E) / 5 peices (NE)

        June = 2 peices (E)

        July = 2 peices (E)

        July = 2 peices (E) / 5 peices (NE)

        August = 2 peices (E)

        Sept = 2 peices (E)

        Oct = 5 peices (NE)

        Of course those numbers could be changed to a certain week of that month to make it 5 peices per (NE) map packs and even it out.

        Its just the 15 dollar charge and the fact of four release dates for non premium members would conflict with one side or the other.

        I could detail it more but I got an appiontment to go to in an hour.

          justinsanev2 wrote:

          Details on that matter are unknown.  If I had to make a guess though...

          If Activision sticks to $15 model (which has been "confirmed" in the latest Elite trailer):

          Map Pack = 3 maps / 2 Spec Ops missions

          Map Pack = 3 maps / 2 Spec Ops missions

          Map Pack = 3 maps / 1 Spec Ops missions / 1 game mode

          Map Pack = 3 maps / 1 Spec Ops missions / 1 game mode

          or

          Map Pack = 4 maps

          Map Pack = 4 maps

          Map Pack = 4 maps

          Map Pack = 6 Spec Ops missions / 2 game modes

          Or if Activision goes with a $20 map pack:

          Map Pack #1 = 4 maps / 2 Spec Ops missions

          Map Pack #2 = 4 maps / 2 Spec Ops missions / 1 game mode

          Map Pack #3 = 4 maps / 2 Spec Ops missions / 1 game mode

          Or if you go by the Content Calender:

          If they released three $20 map packs:

          http://upload.offensivex.com/images/mappacdid.png

          If they released four $15 map packs:

    2. 402 said that Combat Training was 'a Treyarch' thing, and that Survival Mode is their way of learning maps and guns.

    3. Don't you think that Treyarch needs everyone on Black Ops 2?

    And for the people that haven't seen the Content Calendar for 2 or more days, there's a surprise for you there. Game modes are removed from the Calendar, and replaced with Classified.
