Combining perk effects

Bare with me here this is just an idea I had that may help increase the variety of perks used as well as encourage other play styles and decrease killstreak dominance. I'm going to use MW3s perk setup for this post.
Combining two pro perks in one load out will grant you different effects based on what perks are being used.
Examples:
Hardline Pro + Blind Eye Pro: Decreases number of flares that enemy killstreaks have and lower damage required to take them down. Applies to all killstreaks.
Blast Shield Pro + Blind Eye Pro: Increases the number of flares your killstreaks have and increases the damage required to take them down. Applies to all killstreaks.
Assassin Pro + Dead Silence Pro: Hides any announcements you may trigger. (IE: If you call in a Cobra it won't announce it to the other team. If you take an objective it won't alert the enemy team) Also hides flag beacon in CTF like BO's Ghost did.
Recon Pro + Marksman Pro: Grants you immunity to CUAVs and EMPs
Blast Shield Pro + Steady Aim Pro: Increase your explosives blast radius but not damage.
Quickdraw Pro + Sit Rep Pro: Increases your tactical equipments radius
Recon Pro + Sit Rep Pro: Shows enemies through walls as if they were equipment for one second, does not apply to bullet damage.
Overkill Pro + Scavenger Pro: Allows you carry an extra tactical and lethal piece of equipment. (Does not include portable radar, scrambler or tactical insertions) All guns you pick up have full ammo.
Stalker Pro + Blast Shield Pro: Reset fuse on enemy frags, semtex stickies do max damage without killing you.
Hardline Pro + Sit Rep Pro: Lets you take care packages and booby trap them afterwards
Hardline Pro + Scavenger Pro: Lets you re-roll care packages. (Does not apply to escort air drops or offsprey gunners) (applies to enemy care packages)
Sleight of Hand Pro + Blast Shield Pro: Makes your lethal equipment set off faster. (normal set off if enemy is using stalker pro)
Obviously some perk combination should not grant added effects, such as Assassin + Stalker or Assassin + Blind Eye.
Just a random thought I had.
Thoughts anyone?
Love the ideas man. Seriously. You sold me with the first one concerning hardline and blind eye, i think its an excellant idea to encourage people to step outside their comfort zone with the perk setups.
Interesting idea, what happens when you roll specialist strike package and have all the perks in the game? That'd make for some pretty funny OP comments regarding that package, not to mention it'd make that one person on the field more effective than an assault juggernaut (although i see no issue with it considering it takes 7/8 kills to earn it)
There would be some balance issues to work out I'm sure, but specialist would not be one of them as no combination grants you extra health or bullet damage. You're still easy to take out ![]()
Very true. I think they should add it to the game. Really mix things up a bit and keep the game interesting. Idk how much code would be involved, but it should/would be something to look into on the Dev side.
Don't think very many things can be added to MW3 at this point ![]()
In other words, bump >.>
My friends and I talk about this often. I think it would be awesome to add. I run Stalker, Hardline, and Slight of Hand. Its basically just the run and gun class. But the right combos should really add a little extra.
this is diffrent and would be nice in this cod but does IW realy listen? (i think not)
IF it were applied it's too late for MW3. I only used this games setup as an example ![]()
I'm not going to comment on the combination of perks you used as examples, but only because I don't feel like thinking it through too much at this point. I will say that the idea of doing something like this is absolutely AWESOME!!!
I'm sure no matter what there'll be people complaining about balance, but I really do like where this could lead the game.
I really like the concept but as others said it won't come in this game. Maybe next one
You are genius. Its great ideas like this that I.W. needs to grasp at. Its a shame they can't come up with innovative ideas like this themselves. You should be working for them. Or rather they should be working for you. lol I'm suprised i never thought of this. lol!!! XD
I hope that IW listens to this, should be in the next game. But the examples you gave need work.
Great idea though. The forrums are very useful sometimes.
Haha thanks everyone
@Youngkyle1 yeah, as I stated earlier the whole thing would have to be balanced and/or revised. These are only examples based on MW3s current perk setup.
This posts intention was more so to pitch the idea for critique from you guys.
Sounds badass dude. I wish they would implement this, maybe in the next game you would have a lot of neat people playing.
Very intersting idea, by combining two perks of certain kinds together you basically gain a fourth perk of a sort.
But then again why not just add in a fourth tier perk that can be customized in the effects it can have. Say after reaching a certain prestige and level. At that point people would me more likely to prestige for it would have a greater reason then it does now in the game. Sort of like a master perk that can be set to have the effects of any two perks combined within it.
Prestige should be nothing more than bragging rights. No one should ever be rewarded with any sort of edge over other players simply because they prestiged lol That's just the way I look at it though.
Not giving an edge to a Prestiged player is EXACTLY the standard the COD devs live by and the reason it's difficult to come up with incentives to players that Prestige.
The reward has to be something cool enough to want to prestige, yet not give an advantage over non-prestiged players.
The thing is, there are good incentives to prestige and MW3 would have had the most incentive to prestige if IW/BH didn't give away prestige tokens for christmas and previous CoDs.
This is an interesting idea. It would be a cool think to have implemented into the game, if done well.
Interesting ideas, OP.
Feels like combining FPS with RPG elements to me.
Yeah, something like that.
My intention was to give people a bit more incentive to play outside their comfort zone and increase perk variety as well as decrease kill streak dominance.
bump
I like where you goin with this. Maybe they could also do somethin with certain equipment combos. Or even weapon attachments or profeciencies. Good idea man.
im gonna sound like an ass here no matter how i say this but here goes...u played modded lobbies on mw2 didnt u? cuz thats one of the hacks over there is the combination of perks. What that means is this...for every 1 perk slot those cheating s.o.b.'s had 2 perks in said slot...this would just open the floodgates for 4 or more perks per slot. as bad as mods were on mw2 do u really want to give those modders that capability? 12 perks standard setups? then run specialist and have every perk in the game in approximately 10 kills? U HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME...HORRIBLE IDEA...wheres the dislike button? lol
Not the same, at all. You're talking about extra perks. I'm talking about certain perk combinations giving you a little extra not an entire perks worth of effects.
Im not sure how I feel about this idea. Im gonna guess that theyre are trying to keep it simple for the kiddies.
I figured that at the time of typing this, but heh went with it anyway.
Activision wouldn't want their players to think a bit for a change.
Nice I didn't know this about the flares will have to try it out Thanks.
please read OP again
I'm guessing this is how the "I heard from my friend" comments start eh?
Yeah man, I think this is a top idea. The amount of times i call in a care pakage and somebody takes the helicopter out before it drops it, it does my head in!
and i like the one to get extra tac/lethal granades, thats what i liked on black ops that scav got them back. I could go on, there pretty much all sweet ideas, nice!
