the funny thing is I started up the eleite app on the console and I swear the start up noise is very close to it (if it not the same thing).

I wonder if there is some funny interaction between the game and console app...

I've gotten it a few times, always seems to happen on Outpost for me when it happens. I just turn the sound off on my headset for 30 seconds and when I turn it back on the sound is no longer happening. Not really sure what causes it, but it kills my ears and I wish theyd fix it.

This is just another thing they shouldn't have touched at all. Sound worked fine in MW2, no issues. Now that they've "improved" the sound for MW3, it's glitchy as hell.

When this happened to me it blew the speakers on my turtle beach headset. Talk about painful, at least my high pitch hearing was bad before from forgeting earplugs at work and shoting guns a lot, so not to much damage done.

I have had it happen one time.  I thought something belw out in my Astro A40s (or was about to).  It finally went away and I haven't had it happen since.

I am not sure what causes it but it was scary trying to figure out what went wrong. 

Most deifnately a flaw in the game, and JUST this game. All other MP and SP games have not created the same 'feedback'. there are multiple threads on the issue. It's actually quite serious since there are those who claim their speakers or headphones have had their speakers blown from this problem. When its happened to me it's been nearly deafening and painful. Yet, STILL no word from IW. Like, if they say nothing it doesn't really exist.

Come on its from day 1 and i dont care what is the reason JUST FIX THAT LOUD CRACKED SOUND !!!! What are u waiting MW4 !!!!!!?????!!!!!!?????

It's a problem exclusive to MW3 on the PS3. It's been there since release and has never been fixed. The only way to get rid of it is change to a normal tv channel and then back to your PS3. Also you will have most likely been shot whilst doing this =]

I heard this from time to time on Dome, but every now and then it occurs in Village. It's so loud that I have to hit the mute button on my remote immediatly and apologize to anyone near me.

Its what most of us refer to as the "Audio EMP". It only happens on the PS3 and IW is aware of it. I spoke with GHANDI about it in the HOT FIX thread and he said something along the lines of "its a problem that is so deep in the PS3 (hardware) coding that they cant find/fix it". That was the gist of what he said. not an exact quote.

I tried to find GHNADI's exact post but in 750+ pages of HOT FIX notes i cant find it.

its happened since the launch of the game and they never fixed it. it happens because this is just another bad port of cod to the ps3

It has happened to me for the first time tonight, had to press mute pretty damn quick,  certainly glad I didn't have an headset on.

Over last few day's lots of random things, freezing screen, disc read errors, thrown out of lobby's every few games.
