Detailed guide to the MK14!

Aye, perhaps one of the most underrated weapons in the game. I didn't like it the first time I picked it up (in the early days of MW3) because it kept jamming. However, I decided to give it a second chance yesterday and it worked really well for me. I cover many things relating to this weapon and test several features such as proficiencies and and damage over range. I also test the significance of the rapid fire attachment. However, I can summarise with 3 main tips for success with this weapon:
1) Fire slowly at longer ranges. Yeah, it's kinda obvious, but this weapon does jerk upwards considerably at longer ranges. So instead of spamming the trigger button in the hope of getting lucky, control your spots. Aim for the head, as this weapon is a headshot machine and, at certain ranges (demonstrated in the video), it will kill enemies in one shot to the head. Great for killing head glitchers, campers and the likes.
2) Use an offensive secondary with which you can rely. Don't go running out into tight CQC areas with the MK14...it was the worst hipfire spread of all the assault rifles. Luckily, it has a short drop time, meaning that you'll be able to switch to your secondary with some speed. I'd recommend the MP9 as it is great for CQC encounters, but also has significant capabilities at slightly longer ranges.
3) My favourite and most successful approach with this weapon is a stealthy one; i.e. using Assassin and a silencer. I tend to manoeuvre around the edge of the map, picking people off and then moving on. The weapon has great iron sights in my opinion, so it doesn't require an optic sight, allowing me to use a more useful proficiency such as Kick or Flinch. I don't use rapid fire as I have become familiar with the weapon's RoF limitations and rarely over-step the threshold. However, if love to spam the fire button or want to make full use of your trigger finger, try rapid fire.
Please include your tips/classes as well ![]()
I love this gun with a suppreser and a Hybrid sight running blind eye, hardline, marksman with specialist package.
Yeah, it is amazing when suppressed. Marksman is such a brilliant perk for it!
ELMatadorY, that is a superb video and I'm sure a lot of work went into it. Well done that man, more please.
Thanks, man! And yes, it required a significant amount of effort, but as long as it is helping people and pleasing my supporters, I'm more than happy to put in the time ![]()
Yes, I will keep the weapon guides coming.
This was my go to weapon WELL before MW3 even came out. I knew it was going to be the best rifle out there and the same holds true for all semi-autos if you can control them well enough. One well placed shot and it's over in your favor. Two if you're lagging. Though I must admit that lately I have been going to the MP7 in smaller maps, but the MK-14 is still my favorite! And is the first unlocked with a token. Will not go without it. Sucks that it's so high of an unlock, but it does make sense.
Yeah, definitely. You have a good eye for weaponry, my friend.
Good job, once again. Makes me want to play with mk14 right away. ![]()
Cheers! Good luck with it, bro ![]()
Like n bump as usual for this budding Scorsese;)
The support is much appreciated, my friend ![]()
Nice video mate! Really well done!
Love this rifle! I usually use an acog scope on it.
Thanks, man =)
yes!
this gun is good. so, so good.
i run it with kick proficiency and a red-dot.
i used to run attachments: suppressor and red-dot when i first got the game. now that we're a couple of months in, i keep it loud, so people know where to find me.
max range, max damage & max accuracy. 1 shot kills to the head. double tap to the chest.
hell's yeh.
Yeah, its damage over range is just astonishing! Especially for all those one-shot-kills to the heads. If you are good at handling traffic and want people to blind rush you, then yes, loud and proud is a good tactic. I do this on FFA a lot.
Excellent gun. It seems to jam up slightly more with a suppressor for me. But yes, an excellent stealth weapon when combined with a silenced mp9.
Liked!
Thanks
Yes, a very good stealth weapon, especially with Marksman. The silenced MP9 has to be one of the best secondaries.
with a quick enuf trigger finger and kick on you can still double tap for a easy kill at long range i do it all the time
Problem is with the jamming. I don't want to risk it jamming, so I take a little bit of time for long-range shots. I focus on trying to ping them in the head. But hey man, whatever works for you ![]()
Another great guide from Matador.
I like you didn't like it that much at first, but I have grown to like it and enjoy playing with it.
Usually run a suppressor and marksman.
Thanks, Tinny ![]()
Yup, can't go wrong with that combo.
-MK14 - Thermal & Stability
-M4A1 - Red Dot & Kick
-Frag & Flashbang
-Scavenger Pro
-Overkill Pro
-Marksman Pro
Usually run the M4A1 more the the MK14, gets a lot of kills for Overkill with ease.
Like many of you, I make sweet, sweet love to my MK14. Here's what I roll:
Primary: Suppressed MK14 with M320
Secondary: Stinger
Equipment: C4 and Trophy System
Perks: Recon, Quickdraw and Stalker (All Pro)
Gives me the results, man. Not only can I employ stealth and anti-air, Quickdraw more than makes up in CQC. There's also C4 and Stalker to push aggressively (without worry of traps no less).
Since the MK14 has fine ammo conservation, Recon is there to justify the grenade launcher; I use it as a flashbang of sorts to paint out the enemy -- as well as damage them for easy picking.
Thus, it gives me the opportunity to use the Trophy System. Couple that with Quickdraw Pro and it saves my ass more often than not in Domination, especially when littered with Predator Missiles.
This is a great class for your gameplay technique, helping to make full use of every little feature.
You are a drop shotting nut sack...
Haha, of this I am guilty. It has become a habit, and one that has saved my life many times ![]()
I could have sexual intercourse with this weapon.
Yes lol, it is that good.
MK14 with Red dot and Rapid Fire. Works just like the M14 from COD4 which is how it should work. Amazingly that is.
Yeah, that is correct.
The combo of breath proficiency and marksman pro really has some useful synergy here. I was going for a flexible MK14 kit so I also added a red dot sight and quickdraw. All of these in unision give good potential at nearly any range.
Did that work out well for you? It certainly does have potential, but how does it fare in practice?
Nice guide mate, you've gone into depth in quite a few areas. Especially like that you've actually done some testing as well.
Most people I see using the mk14 are using a modded controller, pray and spray like it was an automatic
Using a modded controller is not something I condone...it is akin to cheating.
You can do very well with this weapon without cheating like that ![]()
I can't even remember the last time I saw someone using the MK14 without a turbo controller. When will these developers learn that you can't trust people enough to include guns like this.

Fix'd.
Cheers ![]()
Yes, I do what I can to benefit/entertain my supporters, so I take the time to do these tests.
nice video Mk14 the best
Great post ElMatadorY! Thanks to you and everyone else who shared setups and ideas. Looks like I have a new gun to play with next time I get on. Makes me wanna go play now!
great video guide! love the mk14 with red dot and silencer. might try to mix it up though with kick or rapid fire
I agree MK-14 Is Assault Rifle to Range kill. And Its Great Effective Against Snipers Or Campers i Tried it out.Try To not Spray The hole thing because isn't Effective You get Probably Killed By SMG/SG.
I have used the Mk14 a lot, My setup as of now is Thermal Sight and the Breath prof.
Before I had Thermal I used Focus because you really need to get those 2-3 shots in there and if I get hit and thrown off target it will be more challenging than if that happens with a full-auto weapon.
With Breath and Thermal it feels very much like a M14 EBR with much better mobility. Now if too many of you guys start to use the MK14 the OP threads are going to start off in a big way (in this forum anyway) and now that it is a gun I actually use it would be even more tiresome than usual.
i like the MK14 a lot also.
theral or ACOG
stability
perk1: slight of hand (or scavenger. both are good)
perk2: quickdraw
perk3: marksman
secondary: skorpions
frag/flash bang
stability takes all the sway out of the barrel when you sight up with your scope. themal has breath which helps level up marksman.
it's a lot of fun
I love the mk14, but I almost always run it with an acog sight. I guess I use it more like a sniper. Put marksman on and ping heads from the treeline!
