Um, I know what that means when they have to add a qualifier like "officially".

As in, for the longest time "officially" the US did not conduct any combat operations in Laos during the Vietnam war.
Officially = something we are currently willing to admit in public.

the question is, why did this "confirmation" come from a third party source? Why didn't Activision or Infinity Ward go out with this information instead?

Re: ROCK SOLID CONFIRMATION. NO DELAY FOR PC SKU!!
Wanted to add a few things here to clarify my personal position, which is separate from the official word.  Most people know that I don't hold back and even though I'm graced with Activision and IW flying me out every so often to see things before others, I still call it like it is, without any butt kissing or worring about keeping my relationships with devs and publishers.  I'm in it for my own community before anyone else.

The other thing to note, to fly me across country is a big pain in my butt, I fly across country (sept alone 4 times) more then I care too with my real day job, so getting on another plane does not excite me at all.  I would much rather have a bi-weekly or even monthly conference call like we do for "Games for Windows" - which is a joke in itself, don't even get me going with that quagmire of support for the PC platform.

Here is what I just posted over at my site.

I'm 100% sure that Activision and IW have finally stated "official" that the game is still on time and will be released on Nov 10th.  This after Activision PC informing me that 402 has commented on the release date for PC.  Please note that this official word comes after the delay rumors for the PC version.  I can only say that at least now we have their word for it, granted you may have to take it with a grain of salt but they have it in writing.

With that said, do I still think they will make it, NO. We are less then 26 days away from release and the game still has not gone gold, no duplications, no system specs released and so on. If it's released on the 10th, do you really think with all this rushing it's going to be in a state that we will enjoy?

But now we can hold them accountable for telling everyone that it will be released on time and there is no delay.  We can hold them accountable if the PC version does not have all the features as the other platforms (402 stated all platforms are the same).

Which now that I think of it, could mean our platform will not get dedicated servers, AC, Linux, mod tools and the list goes on.

All in all this release by IW is one big cluster f^%$, by a now consolized dev management team who does not have the passion or ambition to deliver a great PC game.   What I saw at the IW Modern Warfare event (1) was, back then, a dev and management team passionate about the PC platform.  You new something great would come of it for our platform. Grant Collier sat on the IW balcony telling us how much effort his team put into the PC side of this game and I left with a HUGE grin on my face.

So long story short, spreading the official word that IW and Activision have now publicly stated that the game is still on time, is the best way to make sure everyone knows: That if this game is delayed, how douchbagish it was for them to lie to us. And yes it would be an outright lie.

And in turn you should be very careful when purchasing anything from them again.  I guess they forget some if not most of us, also purchase console titles for our kids.....

Also note I'm the type of guy who if proven wrong will come back here and praise the dev team for an awesome job.  I always give credit where credit is due, I also don't have a problem calling someone out when they lie, cheat or blatantly push someone aside, no matter what platform.  I really don't care about relationships wit dev teams, community managers or publishers if it's going to jeopardize my community and members.

Cirap, that is the biggest issue we have with 402, Activision and Infinity Ward going all the way back to CoD2-ish "Hell chick" the best damn IW community manager before walking to another dev company - sorry had to add that.

I think most of us would accept an official statement if the game was delayed way back when but for some reason Act and IW can't seem to do that "ever".

I'm always complaining communication communication where the hell is the communication, why does the game industry think it's better not to talk?  The only company out there doing anything for the community and communicating while still supporting their past product (very past product) is Valve.

Damage is definetly done. All these rumours and no answers for us PC guys were a complete turn off. X360 guys cry about something and sure as hell they get answers in the same minute. Where is that equal treatment. Thats right nowhere, it was total BS. The came will most likely be made so much towards consoles that it will totally blow on PC.

So all this equal BS etc. sure ass hell will make many PC guys pirate the game, just to see if it's worth our monies, or just another shitty console game.

It just seems like they used the phrase "Officially no" as their get out of jail free card. They think they can just walk away from it like nothing never happened.

Re: ROCK SOLID CONFIRMATION. NO DELAY FOR PC SKU!!
The thing I dont understand is that the site that started all this - electronictheatre - also got the release sheet from an Activision official. This is from the site owner, after being challenged on where the site got the release sheet and dates:

The release schedule was received directly in an e-mail from Activision. I'm not about to out our source here on the forum (which I feel is what you might be hinting towards!) but rest assured, it came from an internal representative of Activision.

    <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://electronictheatre.co.uk/index.php/forum?func=view&amp;id=964&amp;c atid=7#970">http://electronictheatre.co.uk/index.ph ... atid=7#970</a><!-- m -->

Most Europian online retailers have the 24th as the release date, and I - like many others - didnt notice it until it was pointed out to me on here (by Vrandas), but THAT HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE DATE!!! It was that date BEFORE THE RUMOUR STARTED.

So whats up with this? I'll tell you what Im starting to think: I think this so-called "simultaneous world-wide release" is bogus. I think the Europians have always been slated for a 24th release date - hence the dates on the sites, hence the emails to Europians saying the date is the 24th, and hence the Activision official who gave the seasonal release sheet to electronictheatre.

This is why they can say "no delay, everything is on schedule" because the 24th has always been the scheduled date for Europe.

Remember: with COD4, Europe got it 1 WEEK LATER than the USA.

It will remain to be seen if my little theory turns out to be fact, but this is what Im thinking given all the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle.
