your just looking for an excuse because your not playing as well as you normally would Specialist has no effect on your weapons all it does is give you more perks in place of the usual killstreaks

If you can't play better than normal with specialist you are doing something wrong. Getting extra perks gives you a huge advantage over everyone else granted you have to be able to get a killstreak going to take full advantage.

Specialist package is kind of funny for me. I like it a lot, it seems like it's easier to get 7-8 kills than with either other strike package, however you have to be good in order to do well consistantly. My K/D on the account I use almost exclusively specialist is about 1.7 and the account I was using assault is about 1.9. It's easier to get big games with assault but it's easier to be consistant with specialist.

I struggle to see how anyone can lose with the specialist package.  Put hardline on and you only need one kill or cap to unlock the first perk, even if you go no further each time you do this your edging towards a bonus. 

The set up I use is Blind eye, hardline and marksman, with assassin, quickdraw and sleight of hand as my specialist perks.  I vary the last one depending what is close to completion.  I use ACR and stinger and I recon on average you get around 30% more XP per game with specialist than assault or support.  Basically that means you're saving a third of the time to rank up.  Once you unlock all perks you become superman and the number of times I hear the enemy saying "no way" after I kill them with all perks unlocked is unbelievable.  I really fail to see how you can say the gun seems weaker, certainly not in my experience.

First Time through prestige I used the support package as I thought it would mKe it easier to get my points up seeing that u can die and still earn ur stuff, and used a heavy type of set up with AR's and grenade launchers n stuff, I did ok but I never really set up a lightweight class for run and gunning...

So second time through when I got level 20 I set up a class with a smg throwing knife and special package, and didn't really think I would play it much, but by level 30 I was hooked and used it pretty much every game by level 40 right till the end of 80

Quick draw or assassin depends cos I kinda swap these two about

Stalker.  All for my main perks

Then...,

Soh

Blast shield

Then blind eye

I'm not too arsed about the last two ao sometimes swap those as well,

And I never bother with hard line as a main perk on this set up cos in my eyes it's a waste of a perk slot, just to earn soh 1 kill earlier I'm missing out on either QuickDraw or assassin, which I would have to add to the perk streak anyways,

Ok I don't exactly own every game but I've noticed it's helped a lot to raise my kdr and u can earn quite a few decent points along the way by earning two or 4 kills and the points for earning each perk challenge,

I have maxed it out quite a few times but it is harder to get say a ten kill streak with no support in the air, but if you set up u can be invisible pretty much to everyone after ur first couple of kills, but I'm not too bothered about that and as long as they die when I shoot them I'm happy to kill 4-5-or 6 then die a couple of times and repeat lol
