Easy question, who designed the sound for this game? Obviously it is not the same designer that created it for COD4 and MW2. First there is no hitmarker sound for PS3 still after 1 month post release and after a promise of it being in the latest hotfix, it still is not there and has since been removed from the list. (This issue has been fixed after this thread was created via a hotfix)
Next issue is the Mic voice quality. Once again 402 states that it is gonna be "improved" in January. What does "improved" actually mean? The chat needs to be revamped, its complete utter trash right now. You are better off unplugging your mic and talking to yourself right now. Who tested this?
Next issue is intermittent footsteps. The footsteps themselves drop in and out randomly. Once again, who tested the sound in this game?
Next issue is an issue where the sound in the headphones start to buzz. This occurs in all 7 of my headphones that I have tried with MW3. What happens is that while you are playing, one of your earpieces, normally the left one for me, will start buzz so loud, you think your speakers will explode. WTF fix this or pay for my replacement equipment.
Next issue is the obnoxiously loud music levels in the game and especially the lobby. Why are we FORCED to listen to music when we are just sitting in a lobby and wanting to chat with one another? Sometimes we like to sit in a lobby and chat for a half hour to catch up on what is happening in one anothers lives. Yet IW chose to go the route of Nintendo games and not give us an option to turn the music down or off. Give us this long needed option.
So again my question is who was the Lead Sound Designer? This person needs to be held accountable for their production or lack thereof. Please let me know what you think, thanks for reading.
Dont know who the sound designer was, but I certainly wish they would fix the hitmarker sounds like they acknowledged. 402 did respond to someone's tweet today saying that it was still "scheduled for a future update" and "should be getting addressed." Fingers are crossed.
I agree with pretty much everything. I can't comment about the Headphones issue as I don't use them, but if it's that bad, it needs to be addressed.
I think this once again reiterates the need for a Beta pre-release. Clearly their in-house testing just isn't cutting it.
Thanks for the reply Kastro. It happens to all of the players I game with in regards to the headphones issue. Also they all have issues with the remainder of the issues I have posted. I have 800 dollar Sennheiser headphones that I thought I blew due to the sound in this game. Sounds needs to be reconfigured badly.
Thanks for the reply Coolwhip. This was supposed to be in hotfix xxxxxx.14, but of course it is not. The PS3 version was supposed to be IDENTICAL to the Xbox version according to 402 pre-release, but that is not the case once again. We do not even have HD rendering, I do not even record any videos, but it should be the same for all platforms.

Hi Davidlsofferman- Thanks for the reply. I completely agree. I had faith in IW as COD4 was a great game and there were major issues within the development team during MW2, so I gave them a pass for the lack of support. MW3 has shown me that IW no longer exists in its past form and that COD is essentially dead in terms of quality gameplay. Treyarch is not a top tier development studio and now is probably the leading development company for COD, and that says all I need to know. Its unfortunate since I have been a COD supporter since 2003. Looks like I have to either find a new series or get continually lied to by subpar development studios.
2015 is the supposed year that Respawn will launch their first FPS.
Can't wait.
Ha ha! Dedi..How you been? Now for that buzzing..I stopped with the headset the first week. Also, it will come through the TV, LOUDER. I had the ISP tech come out for maintenance and my son's mother told them about the terrible noise. The put a filter on the cable, saying it was probably caused by feedback or something somehow. They have numerous complaints.

I can't complain much, on my 9th day of 10hrs here at work. Got some chemical I was mixing dripped on my neck and now it is kind swollen.
As for CoD...this game could get better...but I still think this it for me. Been at it since Finest Hour.. I think this is for what was IW...the Worst Hour.
I agree with that as well. I have never gotten a response from Rob regarding any issues with the sound. I am sure he reads my tweets but never responds as I am sure none of those issues will be resolved. Seems like COD has gotten too greedy and lost respect for its fanbase.
I have since these forums opened up asked for MW2s complete matchmaking system to be brought back. Have tweet him numerous times....probably over 30. Nothing. We got the half a55 version of it. They need to newworking nonstop on this. Get the F*ckn interns out of the Captains seat.
Yeah man, Infinity Ward really dropped the ball on this one. I REALLY hope Bowling isn't up to his old tricks and is just saying what people want to hear to shut them up for the time being. If January (probably the 31st) rolls around and mic chat is still crap, I'm going to lose it.

WTF!!!! - I spent the next 10mins going in and out of menus in complete disbelief that Infinity Ward would do this. I still can't believe it. I mean seriously, in these companies NOTHING happens without having a dozen meetings about it, so some dip-sh!t sold the "one master volume" idea. I think we have to blame crack for this one; it's the only answer.

IW have always only had one master volume theydont like sound whores
I don't know that they'd admit to that, but I guess that's the only plausible answer.
Someone in the Infinity Ward meetings must've said, "Eff the sound whores! We will NOT be taking ANY cues from Treyarch! ONE master volume is what IW has always done and ain't nothin' gonna change that!" LOL!
Good to go on the hitmarkers I guess. Don't know what he's talking about regarding the semtex+juggernaut rebalancing though.

The audio is much better than Black Ops but definitely a step back from MW2.
I can still hear footsteps (without dead silence/sitrep pro) in MW3 but it will never replace what MW2 had.
A disappointment really, IW & SH Games missed out on what Black Ops (in-game objective stats) & MW2 (audio & better connectivity) and messed it up on MW3.
Just to let you know, none of the issues you've described have anything to do with the Sound Designer. He only makes the sounds, and is not responsible for how it's coded into the game.
He has to create the sound to be coded. Thus Helen Keller.

Hellen Keller is a female. For some reason they teach us about her in elementry school here in the United States. I was about 8 at the time I learned about her and was far more focused on my pokemon cards, gameboy and what was for lunch and couldnt care less about her

Well we got the hitmarker sound finally. Now we need to improve the sounds to make dead silence a viable perk. Seems people with stalker are equipped with dead silence and people who run only register half of their footsteps. I didnt have the buzzing in my headphones tonight at all which was nice for once. But the lobby music is still annoyingly loud and makes me insane. I have no idea why we are forced to listen to it in lobbies, especially when you are just chilling with your friends and talking. Very counter productive. Hopefully the mic fix will be better than just an improvement.
To the guy that stated it isnt the sound designer's fault, yes it is. I have been around COD FOREVER. I have gamed with developers such as Vahn from Treyarch. The sound designer creates the code for the sound and then sets the level for which that sound will activate. If there is a bug in the sound, the bug is from poor coding. If the sound level is not audible enough such as in the footsteps case, it is because that person didnt properly calibrate the sounds over the ambient noises and regular gameplay. When Treyarch had their initial issues with dead silence pro not making footsteps louder, Vahn sent the request to the sound designer, even though he was the lead multiplayer designer.

i been on my ass on twetter trying to help you out in this, but i think robert is sucking xbox360 dick all day, we need a ******* music slider, like in black ops, one of the worst games of cod, but give them props for giving us the tool to shut the music up, but oh well pete laters bro!!! SB07
Oh God. That huge, clusterf*ck of BZZZZTTREAZZZZSDKFDFDGNFDGIFH?FINFDMOIH?GNFOIHNGFHGOFDHGOMHJGMFF whenever my TV speakers spazz out makes me so mad. Thought it was just me. That really needs to be fixed.
The footsteps are better than they were in BO, but worse than MW2. SitRep Pro also does very little to people without Dead Silence.
I thought I had blown the speakers of my headset with that random loud buzzing sound. I have to have my astro mixamp right next to me now to turn it off immediately so my speakers won’t blow, this happens at least once a night for me randomly.
I had really believed them when they said they updated the sound engine, but I've been duped. Spent a crap load of money for nothing really.

I literally jumped out of my chair from the insanely loud buzzing the first time I heard it. My ears were ringing afterwards.
I do advise for anyone who has headphones to turn them down some so you don't lose your hearing.

Sucks. I have a pair of Sennheiser 650's. I would never use them to game - too pricy to potentially blow them out.
I have a pair of the 650's as well and would never use them on this game for that very reason. I have no idea what it is but I am not getting any answers on twitter. Please tweet fourzerotwo on twitter with your questions regarding this matter. Its increasingly frustrating to have sound not even equal to what we had in COD4.
Still awaiting a reply regarding a music slider from someone at IW/Sledgehammer.
@dedi: PM the developer and mod G IH IA IN ID II. He has answered some of my questions.
