Its not numbers or letters  on the disk that is the problem . Its the library they are using. I dont have time to do it right now but if you check out the clan tag editor on Black Ops you may notice some things missing.

Its a pointer in memory and another pointer in memory creating a mixture that grabs the image from elsewhere in the text library.

Example, if there was a tutorial on the single player game saying "Press A (green button picture) to jump." then that is where the error lies in that library of letters.

They most likely lazily used the same library of letters. It the case above the game code was typed like this (paraphrasing)

Screen Words = (Press (special A)A to jump) ; end line

So very likely there lies the fault and why the didnt intend the buttons to show up.

Another example which is pretty cool tht could explain it.....

Go into Notepad and hold down the ALT key and on the number pad type in "147" see the character that shows up., Cool huh

Well in this case you used a shortcut to get there.

Thats a hidden library stored in Windows code, so it may be just like the letters/ symbols on the Xbox "keyboard" but in this case the "ALT 147" shortcut is supposed to be turned off And they accidentally left it on.

And in this case the odd looking A symbol matched with another button will equal the button when shortcut code is turned on.

Personally I disagree, OK so I do think they need to be taken off and people who have them be cautioned but not banned. It's very harsh banning about 1/6 of the people who play MW3 forever just because of a clan tag. But anyway it's not effecting your game play, it's not giving them any bonuses, and it isn't a Mod, it's a glitch. Its not harming your game play so why should they be banned?

PS. I admit, in the past I have performed this glitch but now I do NOT use this glitch I have a regular Clan tag.

Why is this thread still going? This is pretty sad. You would think people would know right from wrong especially on something so little.

There has been enough warning going around that yes people still doing it should get punished, hard. It doesn't matter if you think it's right or wrong, which shouldn't be an issue if your parents taught you the difference, IW has been saying for some time now this is a bannable offense yet i see douchebags still using it. These are the same people that say "Sup bro it's not a big deal yo if dey didn't want me usin it it wouldn't be in da game bro" .

It's like saying if they didn't want me doing crack then i shouldn't be able to buy it. Sure this is an extreme example but it still simplifies it for the people who are too ignorant to understand the difference between right and wrong.

Ban all those button clan taggers forever. Its technacally a hack so why not??? i am so disappointed with this game. I had a hard on for this game i bought the elite founders pack and game at midnight release and now i have a softy when the elite didnt work and the game is a campers paridise it blows...

Did they really say it's bannable? Care to give a twitter or image of it? I've seen so many people saying it's just an easter egg  but you guys are saying it's some crazy hack.
