Founders joining clans

So I have the hardened edition, but have not activated my elite membership yet.  I am already in a clan.  My question is if I activate it, will that clan still get 500xp or should I leave, activate, then rejoin?

    I did same but it was couple of weeks back when elite was less stable. It has since been patched so it may not work now?

     

    I joined a clan

    Then activated status

    Next time went to Clan it asked if I wanted to commit my xp

    I had the option to commit or pull out

    I had to chose I so I pulled out started a clan and invested my xp there

     

    Word of advice. Look out lots of clams invite founders get their xp then boot. There's is no come back.
