My experience is definitely worse than what is shown in boubba's video link.
I found another video in a thread entitled "IS THIS GAME TO EASY?" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-zrZ0HQQfA This is a perfect example of what the lag compensation is like from the other person's point of view. If you watch the video, you will clearly see that this guy sees his opponent way before they even notice him, he gets hits when he's not even on target and always drops people in a couple of bullets. Yes, I would say this game is too easy if it plays like that. This guy ought to try playing on my connection.
I pay a premium for a good internet connection; now I don't expect that to give me an advantage but I certainly don't expect it to give me a disadvantage. What we all want is a fair game for all or a near as possible. Fair obviously doesn't mean no latency all, as simple physics tells us that is impossible. However, the current system is obviously unfair. All it does is encourage people to nerf their connection or worse, use lag switches. If everyone had poor internet connections, no-one would get a good experience, so it is counter-effective to penalise people with good connections to the point where they have a disadvantage.
Please bring back the lag compensation logic from COD4 or MW2, that was much better. Yes, sometimes the host had a slight advantage; to be honest, I hardly noticed it but if they did it was only one player. The way it is at the moment, almost every other player seems to have a massive advantage.
...and don't even get me started on how broken these forums are!!! I get an error every time I post, I can't type without my cursor jumping around and it wouldn't even let me reply to boabba's post.
