Best way to use I.M.S.?

Anyone got any tips on how to use it efficiently? Do I drop it in rooms, near bomb sites, out in the open, around a corner? I haven't had much luck with my placements so far.

put it as a claymore, on corners,not in the open, near entrances to the objectives/on objectives,etc use ur imagination

  It is definately used in tighter spaces and around corners. They have four charges so it should be able to protect an area for a good amount of time unless it is destroyed.

  out of sight but near enough to the objective to work and then go riot shield really screws people over.

Okay thanks for the tips. I decided to not use it for most modes I play (mainly demolition, HQ and Sabotage), but I find it works wonders in Team Defender mode though while I'm defending the flag holder.

  I run sitrep on almost all my classes. Those killstreak unmanned machines are all free "kills" towards my killstreak.

    Sitrep adds points to your support streak for destroying stuff? Didn't notice it before. Is it only turrets and IMS or also Choppers etc?
    What I did find odd was doing objectives like planting/defusing bombs now adds to assault killstreaks too.
