Mouse sensitivity is changing temporarily?
-
Like (1)
It seems that when I run or turn fast, occaisionally the mouse sensitivity doubles. I lowered the sensitivity when I first installed and set my controls. But it seems to pop back up for a second or 2. I can't seem to replicate it on purpose, but it definitely happens several times during a match. I'll try to record it and post here, but I've found that at least a few others have the same problem.
Anyone fix this yet?
Here is a link to someone else I found via google:

I have this also... Really annoying. I turn to shoot some one and the next thing i know i have done a 360 and am running into a wall. Have not found a solution for it yet though. My mouse is a Razor Deathadder if that helps...
Yep, I'm having the same issue. Really annoying.
Same thing happening to my GF and I. Really annoying.
No mouse acceleration in windows, and not in our configs either.
seta cl_mouseAccel "0"
I had the same problem. Unsure what it was caused by but I seemed to have fix it. It has something to do with a program running in the background. I think it was EA's Origin client. Try closing off programs until it stops.
Please let us know if it starts back up for you. I think it's worse on more laggy p2p games. I'm going to try dedicated.
Next I'll try to use default mouse speed in-game and change my dpi to my speed preference.
I'll keep everyone posted as I get info.
I doubt it's a CPU or RAM related problem (Many programs running)
i5 2500k + 16GB RAM ![]()
I don't have origin running.
Edit: I think closing fraps fixed the problem
Well.. I'm not sure what happened, but I just played about 5 rounds without it happening.
Here's what I've done so far:
Closed Origin
Closed Mouse Without Borders
I then tried dedicated servers and it worked, then tried P2P and it worked.
I'll let you know if the problem starts back up, but it's been about an hour with no problems after closing the aformentioned programs.
I still have a bunch of other stuff running: iCloud, 2 Logitech programs, PowerISO, Xfire, and Fraps.
Same thing...
Programs set to High Priority will probably cause this. Even when they are not CPU intensive.
MW3 seems to automatically set it's own priority to High, setting it to normal or anything else than High, seems to cause slight stutter.
I use Mumble, and it sets it's own priority to High too, and when unsetting that, it's fixed.
So, CPU intensive tasks, close them, high priority tasks, lower the priority to normal, or low to ease it out.
I can assure you it's NOT the following;
Origin
Fraps
MSN
Mumble
CoreTemp
LOLReplay
Running dual displays
I've been having this issue since the game came out, and I've tested several times between the SP/MP clients to make sure it's none of the applications mentioned above. I reduced all my running processes down to a minimum, which left just peripheral drivers (Naga epic / Lycosa / G935), display drivers (Catalyst Control Center) and anti-virus (Nod 32).
Here's a video I recorded while doing Spec Ops that displays the issue when it's at it's worst:
My setup, if it's relevant;
MSI-P55 GD65
i7 860 2.8GHz @ 3.8GHz
8GB DDR3-1600 CL8
ATI HD5870
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Yeah, I have this problem aswell. Im not even gonna bother to touch this so called "new game", before its fixed.
Same issue here...
I made a video showing this problem... Share it and let's hope IW sees it and work on a fix ASAP
dude your video made me dizzy... lol good point though maybe we can get a fix soon.
VERY helpful video! Thanks so much for posting this!
Mine was gone for a few days after closing Origin and some other programs, but it came back this morning after a reboot and I closed more programs and it kinda went away again.
I'm not sure why the PC community is getting so little attention these past few years, but someone really needs to help the people that paid for this game.
FRAPS IS THE PROBLEM!
FRAPS IS THE PROBLEM!
FRAPS IS THE PROBLEM!
FRAPS IS THE PROBLEM!
I had the same problem, and i found out with help of the steam community that FRAPS is the problem.
If the fraps window is up while you play, the mouse will jump around at random at random times.
It has a slight chance of happening if the window is closed, but the program is on the toolbar at the lower right corner.
Bump. Get one of these IW employees in here, maybe we can get a respond.
i with the same problem. to the point that is unplayable. I uninstalled drivers, formatted pc, and nothing, the problem persists. stop playing until there is a solution .....
Anyone one with the opposite ?
You can fire but not turn ?
I've seen people with this problem before too. I'd really like to know if there is some bug somewhere that is messing with sensitivity levels.
fraps uninstall the program and returned everything to normal. FRAPS is that detrimental to the sensitivity of the mouse in this game
So all have to remove FRAPS completely to get normal mouse use back ?
Just not running it isn't enough ?
It was working fine for several hours with fraps running, but it came back temporarily. I think the problem is intermittent. I can't say that I've closed more programs than Origin and Mouse Without Borders to get it working again.
It seems like some kind of priority issue or something directly related to the mouse sensitivity settings in the game.
Removing Fraps does nothing to fix this error.
Tried that. Nothing.

Well, the problem is still there. It's on and off still. I start MW3, close MW3, close some programs like Origin and Xfire and whatever, then Start MW3 back up.
If the problem persists after that, I reboot and try again. It seems to work after a few tries, then the problem comes back the next day or so..
At least I don't have to start the game from a freaking web page and third party launching system
seta com_maxfps 85 (or 91) is the cause of random mouse sensitivity. Set it to com_maxfps 125 , and the problem stops.
how and where do we type that?
can we bring to the screen somesort of console?
this thing fix the problem in other cods.
we cant change the maxfps value in mw3, we need to ask to mr bowling for 125fps option, to fix the mousebug , and to be able to play with 120hz
I hope this is fixed soon. I'd like to play at 120 Hz with vsync on anyway :\
Still doesn't explain why it's an intermittent problem for me. I exit and close programs, or reboot, and it works fine for hours, then next time is hit or miss?
I just started having the exact same problem about a week ago. Happens in MP/SP. The game is basically unplayable now. I don't have FRAPS installed and have tried shutting down all apps that I can with no luck.
Hmm.. When I turn the vsync on and set refresh rate to 60.. there is gonna be latency when turning.. but If i set hz to 75 and vsync on.. it doesn effective right? but it helps dunno why..
But they really should unlock com_maxfps.
SOLUTION
FRAPS IS THE PROBLEM!
If you have FRAPS running with the window up behind MW3, the mouse will act this way.
There is a slight chance it will occure even if the window is minimised to the toolbar at the lower right corner
I had this poblem, and closing FRAPS solved it.
I'll test this, but there are people on here that say they don't have fraps and are still having the problem.
Let me know if the problem comes back for you tomorrow with or without fraps.
I just and up restarting MW3 over and over til it goes away, then it stays away for a day or 2.
I also don't want to believe that "Fraps" is the problem because every other game runs fine with it always on. I have about 100 games too, so...
Keep me posted and let me know if the problem comes back after reboot or tomorrow and I'll keep testing.
Thanks!
I stopped playing for a couple days as I mentioned before it's nearly impossible anyway. Tried again yesterday and things were fine with no problems at all. I thought they fixed the problem until I tried again today and the problem was back again. I didn't do anything specific when it worked so it seems as others have mentioned that it will randomly work/not work. It's not FRAPS or at least not for me as I have never installed it on this machine.
I really hope IW fixes this soon.
Fraps isn't the problem. Have tried install game again without fraps installed in my computer. and reset my configs and stuff.. It will work fine some time and then mouse issues starting again... And other games are working perfectly.
Weird...
Fraps was, and is the problem whenever the mouse jumps around when I am gaming MW3.
Well, it helps someone, but not everyone it seems.
Was hoping I was gonna be of much needed help on this subject ^^,
It's definitely helpful
the more we know the better.
I was thinking it was my "Mouse without Borders" program for a while, but I ended up just restarting the game over and over til it worked. Closing random programs like Origin or Fraps along the way.
Now I'm thinking it's just restarting the game until it starts working.. My friend has similar hardware and doesn't have the problem at all.
Keep us updated on your fraps fix. Let us know if it comes back with it off.
Thanks again
So.. Has anyone got a definite fix for the problem? I saw this comment on YouTube:
You have to change your usb polling rate to 500 or lower:/

It seems to have worked when I changed my Polling Rate to 333 reports per second. I'll let you all know if this permanently solves the problem or not soon.
The only way I was able to get rid of the issue was to install the Windows 8 CP. Once I did this and installed the game I had no issues. Unfortunately this isn't really a plausable fix for many people.
I have had that happen when a hair got in my mouse next to the laser.
I just started having this random jerky mouse issue. I've read through this entire post and have yet to find a fix. I'm using a Death Adder 3.5G if that helps. I haven't tried using another because I'm to lazy and I feel that may not solve due to this is the only game that gives me the random jerky mouse effect. Since writing here I will try another mouse to see if I get different resualts.

I actually know the reasons why we get that random mouse sensitivity increase.
a) to high USB polling rate
b) a process in the background has a "high" or "higher than normal" priority
c) to low fps
You can use FPS configs for more fps, I actually got an increase with that.
Run Fraps and the FPS Unlocker at the same time.
Fraps will have 2 processes, one of them has its priority at normal already,
but you can change the other one. So you will need to close and reopen it alot.
Put in 251 to unlock your fps completely and check Fraps' fps overlay.
I'd suggest you to try it our on Outpost, because of the snow.
Throw down a smoke, explode some barrels and check your fps.
Look at the minimum and lock it to that, hopefully you'll have more than 125. :|
I'm still trying to get myself those 333 fps
which gives you a small but significantly higher jump, better firerates and less steps.
I hope I could help atleast some of you.
Unlocking my FPS (http://gf1.eu/Pe1jT8) worked perfectly, no more mouse spasm and a better overall feeling of the game...
