I will be happily playing on a well administered unranked UK S&D server with all the noob weapons tuned off including all the fire and forget kill streaks that need zero skill to use, there will be no one jumping around bunny hopping as if it was Quake III and those who break the rules shall be kicked

    Does that count?

It's important to remember that we also need servers which don't restrict any weapon/perk/attachment. One of the biggest complaints against dedicated servers is that they are "modded" (which is a new definition of the word, and simply means has custom settings).

As such, I will be running 2 dedicated servers with no weapon/perk/attachment restricted. 1 will be for TDM; the other for DOM. I'm not sure yet of the names. There will be no rules other than respect other players, and of course, don't cheat.

Also, I would like twitter names please. Mine is: @tally_modder. Follow me, and I'll return the favour and follow you right back.

If these servers are comfortable and playable (I mean with things like create-a-class, etc), we will have a default server for the most part. We've always had a default server with the grenade launcher being the only thing restricted. I wouldn't want to restrict the GL this time, but I would have to see how it works in the server.

dante2010 your exactly right.  The biggest turn off for me is I hate custom rules.  Certainly default servers are important but unfortunately your a minority in understanding this.   I prefer hardcore TDM and they are very rare those with no custom rules.   This is one of the main reason why I am in total agreement that they keep the matchmaking lobby system as an option.

        Re: PC Community Unite!

Isn't ranked dedicated servers all about standard rules ?

As far as I know you check servers and players on having an untouched standard files -file.

And that is all that needs to be done.

Isn't it a fact that corrupting a P2P server can make players getting unlocked without wanting this ?

So what is exactly the difference between a P2P client server and a MW3 ranked server ?

Well.... the list of P2P servers you have to check is as long as all players present.

And the ranked servers list will be no more than... 2500 servers ???

        Just a thought......

          Re: PC Community Unite!

Ranked dedicated servers can have rules enforced but this tool wants to hide behind the reasoning "admins ban me unofficially." He must be a moron because I can find dozens of hardcore TDM servers with "anything goes" ruleset.

They could have used a voluntary flag system that states that a server is anything goes to make the system idiot proof. That way when this moron wants to play he can filter the servers for those flags only since he's apparently too stupid to read and can't find the dozens of servers I can see on a daily basis.

He also wants to crown P2P as if it's going to solve his issue. Then someone comes along with an MW3 tool that lets you kick whoever you want, in effect turning each match into a administrated match. It's the same thing as dedicated servers with unofficial rules only you have all of the connection issues associated with P2P. Epic fail. Just give it a week and you'll see MW3 tool with client command overflow kick on it.That'll make this baby cry uncle.

            Re: PC Community Unite!

            a. We don't know yet what kind of "dedicated' servers we get. Can be that the IW/SH dedicated servers just mean a server on client's PC with some options to choose from and players can now choose (fav) who to join and so no more forced matchmaking.

            b. Kicked by a admin or a losing P2P client shutting of his PC has the same outcome.

            c. An old-school ranked dedicated server can have best of both worlds.

You can have your strict rule-set and let admins kick hackers only.

Simple backend solution will do.  A player gets time/perma banned after been kicked from... 5 different servers ?

Servers with to much kicking while those players never been kicked from other servers are banned from being ranked because of excessive kicking.

            I don't see the problem.

They've said that dedicated servers can be run regardless of its video card capabilities which would suggest that it could be hosted remotely as opposed from your PC.

A strict ruleset will not work because admins believe they paid for the server they have a right to do what they please.  Depending what side of the fence your on you'll agree or disagree but either way I do know that some admins take it upon themselves to enforce their own custom rules.  So even if you say in a ranked server they should only go by a set of strict rules, this cannot be policed.  The only solution is to have ranked dedicated servers that are run by IW or by their 3rd party administrators that adhere to the ruleset.  This is very costly and I doubt will ever see the light of day.   This is why IMO IW has decided to go with the present matchmaking system.

We don't "believe we paid for it; we do pay for it!

And enforcing rules on unranked servers IS our right. But to say that we can't be trusted to follow the rules of a ranked server is a little broad wouldn't you say?

I had no problem running a ranked server in cod4 as long as they gave us the choice; and honestly believe anyone hacking anything, especially and entire server should be banned for life; along with anyone who participated.

You have been on my server; on many occasions’ unless there's another dot.com running around? but you never noticed me be cause I was playing my game (not setting in spec just waiting to drop the ban hammer; as you would like people to believe) but if I weren't there ensuring some form of civility; your stay might have been less enjoyable.

We (admins) are not the bad guys; if anything we're the cops (unwillingly I might add).

Our only concern is to keep honest people honest (especially in OUR servers; that WE pay for)

The rules on a given server are there to keep order, just like the laws in society; else there would be anarchy.

As well as to set an even playing field; just like any board or field game.

If we started playing poker; before the game started we would agree on certain rules (dealers choice for instance) if you don’t like the dealers choice, you either fold, or cash in. no one is trying to twist your arm; you are a guest, and you’re welcome stay and play by the rules

As the subject says,  I am part of the PC community uniting against those in the PC community that want to abolish the MW3 matchmaking system.   I support the idea of having both the lobby system and dedicated server system and I am completely against those that believe that one system should be abolished over the other.  I will not get into a debate over which is better because its all about personal preference and opinion.   IW would be wise to try to accomadate both sides to the best of their ability.

I suggest we all go back to CoD4 and setting up more ranked servers, cuz now its hard to find a "ranked" server in S&D with 24/32 players.

Dont get me wrong, i love playing promods or some other good "unranked" servers, but i like to switch between them.

MW3 is for next generation PC gamers and will never come close to CoD4, but CoD4 can

    SERVER RULES

    1. No cheating, hacking or map glitching.
i.e., wall, aimbot, radar or no recoil hacks. THIS IS AN INSTANT BAN.
Likewise, if you suspect someone cheating,
get ahold of an admin as soon as possible via game chat, TeamSpeak or steam.

    2. Respect all players at all times.
Do not harass other players; Play fair, Play with sportsmanship.
This rule applies to TeamSpeak as well; do not harass other players over voice chat.

    3. No racial, sexual or otherwise derogatory statements toward other players.
Trash talking in jest is part of any game, and is allowed; however,
racial, sexual or otherwise derogatory statements are not; and may lead to a permanent ban.

    4. No racist or otherwise offensive player names.
Keep it clean. If an admin asks you to change your name, please do so at once.

    5. Do not camp behind the enemy flag; ever!
If you are not running the flag, escorting the flag runner, or looking for your flag,
you do not belong back there.
(Waiting for the flag is an invalid excuse; you should be escorting the flag runner)

    6. If you are going to be AFK, please go into spec. mode or leave.
Things happen, but try to keep it to a minimum.
If you are AFK for long enough you will get kicked.

    7. Keep an eye on the teams. If the teams are unbalanced, switch teams to even them out.
    Also, no team stacking; This is to keep game play as fair as possible;
do not clan stack, unless invited to.

    8. No spamming voice/text chat this is annoying, don't do it.
It distracts other players, even your teammates.
    This also applies to giving your teammates position out over TeamSpeak;
under no circumstances are you to do this.

    9. No recruiting, spamming ip's or advertising on our server(s).
there are plenty of outside message board forums out there to recruit on.

    10. If you accidentally TK some one TYPE sry (the dead can't HEAR the living)
if you intentionally TK some one (for any reason) you will be kicked

    11. No whining. This especially applies to cheating accusations.
Nine times out of ten a cheater can be obviously spotted.
If you suspect someone is cheating, get a hold of an admin via in game, TeamSpeak or steam.
    Don't whine, period.

The server admins reserve the right to kick and/or ban any player without prior notice.

WE KICK PLAYERS TO MAKE ROOM FOR DoM MEMBERS. Check back later.
