Is Gamesharing Illegal?

A friend recently asked me to give him the Escalation/WaW Maps via me giving him acess to my account, and him downloading them from my "Downloads".  I think that this is called gamesharing, and I thought that it might be illegal, because he is essentially stealing from the company by getting the maps for free.  Is gamesharing illegal?  I haven't given him anything yet, because I wanted to find out what the consequences are.

I don't have a definite answer but I don't it is and even if it is I seriously doubt anything would actually happen to you. I've given away all my COTD downloads.

I'm not really sure, but nothing will happen even if you do it so go ahead.

I think it's illegal, not sure, you'd have to look at the licence.

I highly doubt its illegal i mean really doubt it as its an option given to you when you purchase it you are given 5 licences (Five Downloads, per PS3), if your try to re-sell each licence seperately then they might get pissed off (but thats only if you do it on liek a huge scale), But no there no problems with sharing it with your friends as long as you arent selling them i doubt its illegal and i know you wont get into any trouble

It is illegal and it is against the PSN terms of service. Pretty sure it comes under piracy. Whilst it is punishable by law, similarly to file sharing, I doubt you would get in any serious trouble. Worst case scenario: they ban your PSN account and fine you.

It is illegal, but does that even work?

I thought the downloads only worked with your account, but I may be wrong.

    It shouldn't work on XBL.

However I think it does on PSN, which I assume is what the guys above are using.

Licence is tied to the GT.

On XBOX, you don't buy the content, you buy the license for the game. As soon as the license holder is gone, so is all the rights you get of playing DLC. Already earned achievements are the exception, you keep those, but cannot earn new ones.

Don't know the system on PS3 though.
