MW3- The End of the Call of Duty Franchise?

Before you read please note I am not posting this topic as a complaint, or to be flamed for posting my opinion.

I play Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2, and in "my opinion", both games are spectacular, but also have many flaws. Since first playing Black Ops i realized that it is quite similar to other CoD's, and that's what i expected, however after playing many hours of both recent games, i personally am finding that Call of Duty is becoming rather repetitive. However, after seeing gameplay for the upcoming Battlefield 3, the gameplay that i have seen looks sensational and fresh. I will continue playing Call of Duty however i believe that Modern Warfare 3 will be the final game that is successful in the franchise. I think that more and more people like me will begin to become frustrated and bored of the same old gameplay.

I believe the release of Battlefield 3 will dethrone Call of Duty as the king of first person shooters, and as many say, all great things must come to an end.

Cheers

Obviously the footage you have seen is impressive... its cherry picked and running on a top end gaming rig pc on the higest graphical settings

it gives no indication of actual gameplay, server stability, balance, huge maps where nothing happens or the numerous other things that have always ultimately let the bf series down

yeah sure, battlefield 3 looks good, etc. The fact remains that is plays VERY differently to COD, its more realism than COD's arcade style, so no, COD won't be "dethroned" as there is no true competition. I for one prefer COD and always will do.

Others have claimed that they will beat COD, and guess where they are now? in the bargain bin. That includes the new MOH, Homefront, and even BFBC2 (Black ops sold more than those three combined, and theyve been out for a while now)

Unless MW3 does something amazing and new, then i agree with the OP.
BF3 looks like it could be (and the dev's are aiming for it) the first game in the next generation of FPS, something the revolutionizes the genre like CoD4 did.

I'm a fan of both series, will most likely be buying both (looks like DICE is aiming for a November release to compete with CoD) despite me being out of pocket over $200 for them. $90-$110 for new games in Australia for those that didn't know, lol.

Ah, this again? Why wont you guys post those goold old "Homefront = COD killer" topics anymore? I found those almost as amusing as these.

I was a fool when i wasted my money on Battlefield 2 like one of my friends suggested, other friends warned me as they know im a COD player since COD MW1, that those huge maps of battlefield equal huge amount of camping. And that they do.

What comes to your question about MW3, the end of call of duty franchise? i say no.

I'm not buying any more Call of Duty titles. I'm done with them. It seems that with every new release they put more emphasis on kill streaks, instead of just plain murdering. The kill streaks are only fun for the people using them. They need to go back to COD 3, 4, and 5 style of kill streaks. Or just go with passive kill streaks, and not offensive kill streaks. In my opinion kill streaks should not be designed to take out entire enemy teams two or three times over for one use.  All Kill streaks do is promote camping anyway.

If all your worried about is killstreaks, then switching to the Barebones group of game modes may be right up your alley.

I do play barebones. But unfortunately none of my friends do. So if I wanna play barebones, I'm playing by myself.
