Are clans the same format as MW2 where any1 can use ur tag?

I played MW2 religously and got pissed off when you see some noobs with your clan tag. I was wondering if black ops has the same format where everyone can choose whatever clan name they want, or if it goes by a similar method to wow where you need to register your clan??

i put anything as clan tag lol but i never copy other peoples tags.

I think they should do something like what you suggested, but I think it would be too much of a hassle for programmers.

like in SOCOM they had clan profiles and stuff where you cant copy other peoples clan names (just initials)

that would be annoying bcuz for like the big clans like MvK* nd stuff, some ******* would come and register that right away nd the real MvK* would just be left shittin in the wind

Yer but if they are a good clan they would be aware and register straight away. I think it will make multiplayer so much better, cause you will learn which are the good clans and try and get into the best clan you can. Clan wars would take mltiplayer to a whole new level!!

Isn't that what websites like gamebattles.com is for?
I know its not implemented in Black Ops itself, but i think its a good alternative

Resistance had a pretty good clan system. I don't know why call of duty hasn't adopted it...
