Once you've got it, the M1A1 becomes my rifle of choice for sights and larger magazine size (even without the box mag).

Until the M1A1 is unlocked, I've got a soft spot for the SVT-40.  Performance characteristics are essentially equal to the Gewehr but I prefer the sound and action for purely aesthetic reasons.

By itself, the M1 Garand is the most difficult rifle to use; the kick is greater than the other rifles and you can't just bang away on the trigger and expect to hit something (which you can with the other rifles).  However, I always plug away at it until I unlock the sniper scope, because the M1 with a scope and Stopping Power becomes a killing machine, my weapon of choice for holding down positions with long fields of fire and where I'm not dependent upon Camouflage.
