Censoring the word gun.

Hey all,


Whilst playing the new band hero yesterday on the song "Pictures of you" By the last goodnight. I realised an odd censoring choice. I'm not sure if this is just in Australia or world wide, but here is the censoring.


"This a war that's never won, this is a solider and his gun"


The word gun in censored in that lyric, does anyone understand why the word gun is censored? I don't get it at all..

    Maybe....JUST maybe......gun is censored because it is a bad thing. Yes, i know, surprisng, isnt it? Well, excuse my french but, in the real world, guns are very bad because they have the power to kill many, many people. You can say they are magically delicious, just change delicious to painful and lethal.

    i know i wanted to but nazi on my clan tag for WaW just for the hell of it and they wouldn't let me but thats alright. nobody wants to upset anybody thats how things are going

    Gee, Did I ever say that I enjoy shooting people and am oblivious to the bad things guns can do?

    No.

    So calm down, I just think it's a odd censoring choice for a rock game to make.

    It is a very strange censor, but considering how extremely strict Australia's games board is, it may have been necessary to avoid a higher age rating.

    But I don't see the problem with bumping the rating up from a G to a PG..

    Amen! but ya forgot one more thing on that list, your bare hands they can kill people to.

    But on the censoring i never heard that one before but who know it may be just in your county.

    "Gun" is censored because in some dialects, it is known to be a "slang" representation for the male gentialia.

    Don't even ask about why they censor "balloon knot"...

    That is well said. Guns are an important part of life. its the idiots that abuse that right that ruins it for the rest

    I liked that pr0n flitter; it was fun. Not like PSN which even takes faked naughty bits out of real words (that are in the predictive dictionary).

    I think you missed a couple.

    No, I think I remember which ones were my favorites.  There were other filter words, but none that tickled my fancy as much as those I stated!

    Wait a minute...(looks at T-Shirt and remembers that "Soybob is Smarter than Me")

    Your right, I forgot. Can you help me remember what my other favorites were?

    No, you are taking my sarcasm out of context. (If there was a time to laugh, this would be it because of the irony). Anywho...those examples in your list aren't made to kill. The initial purpose of a gun to to kill. The initial purpose of the bat is to hit the baseball. The initial purpose of a automobile is for transportation, etc. So what I'm trying to say is, yeah sure, when you put it that way, a lot of things can kill people, but that's not what I meant.

    And to Trinity, who asked me to "calm down," well I'm as calm as possible for me. I did not try to "bring you down," I'm simply just poking fun. Don't take me seriously :wink:

    Yes, but what can guns do besides kill. So why give people one less thing to kill with. Blaming a weapon in my book for death doesn't seem to be hating anything, it seems to be an intelligent view on the truth. Why should people listen to others like yourself you actually try to defend guns, why should people even talk about it?

    Seems like it's just an overzealous censorship.  They apparently censored the word "whiskey" from American Pie along with several others that didn't really need to be censored imo.

    that is a weird they took out whiskey, its one of the most famous old songs. Kinda dumb to take it out. Its not like they are advertising

    Anywho...those examples in your list aren't made to kill.
    I live in the burbs of a city that's been in the top 10 list for violent crimes for years and years now.
    Tell the people here that something like a baseball bat is made to play baseball with,
    They will tell ya, "an yer heads the baseball right?"
    (Was once a murder committed here with a 19" TV set. no joke, bash over the head!)

    The initial purpose of a gun to to kill.
    To kill some tasty animals (PETA) so you can live, thats why all weapons came into being, to live.
