Activision and Marvel Entertainment today announced that The Amazing Spider-Man™ Ultimate Edition is swinging onto to Nintendo’s Wii U™ console on March 5.  The new Wii U edition of The Amazing Spider-Man includes four bonus DLC packs for the first time on disc and features the same combination of fluid, intuitive combat and exhilarating, free-roam web-slinging action with unique Wii U gameplay elements, making it the ultimate Spider-Man experience.

The Amazing Spider-Man Ultimate Edition DLC Includes:

• • Stan Lee Adventure Pack – Completely voiced by the Spider-Man creator himself, you’ll play as Stan Lee and web-sling through NYC in an amazing race across the city. Take on Spidey’s powers as you wall crawl, web rush, and swing across Manhattan to collect the missing pages of Stan “The Man’s” latest script. Collect all the pages and unlock a surprise reward!
• • Lizard Rampage Pack – Take control of Dr. Connors' terrifying alter-ego in a race against time as you rampage through the streets as Lizard to defeat Oscorp guards.

Update: As announced on the The Amazing Spider-Man game's Facebook page and detailed on HeroHQ, a new date has been confirmed, as well as new DLC!

We will not be releasing The Amazing Spider-Man via Steam on August 10, as planned, but we are working towards having this available at a later date.  Steam is a great partner that we have worked with on multiple releases and will continue to do so.  We will update you on any news as soon as we have anything to share.

The HeroHQ Community had a ton of questions for the ASM devs in this thread. Here are the answers from Beenox!

tjtarr - I heard there are more than one types of swinging... is this true?

[Louis Hallée] Yes! Spider-Man adapts his web-swing according to his environments. When swinging indoor, Spider-Man swings with alternating hands similar to the old cartoons. This swing allows him to cover distances without bumping into ceilings.

bryndor - Will the PC version be the same as consoles? (free roam and such)

[Louis Hallée] Yes!  Also, since modern PCs have a lot more options in how to build them in terms of video cards, etc., you can expect better visual effects and visual quality to match these new cards. We will also fully support Steam and have Steam achievements.

TimFL274-- - Will indoor levels be locked after you are done with them? Or can you, for example, go back to the Oscorp interior?

[Louis Hallée] In Peter’s apartment there’s a whiteboard that allows you to replay any level as well as see the total number of collectibles in the level.

Rei_Entri -Are there any perks to going to Peter Parker's pad? Things like level select, movie viewer, gallery, etc unique to his apartment?

[Louis Hallée] Apart from the story elements, you can replay any completed level and also fix your current suit or change to any unlocked Spidey suit.

PunyParker- Well.....as far, there is no healthbar...how are we going to know how badly damaged we are?

[Louis Hallée] Spidey’s stance changes when badly hurt. His breathing gets tougher, he’s hunched over and holds his ribs, etc. There’s also a red glow onscreen that shows you the amount of damage.

bryndor- Will the PC version have free roam? Will the PC Version be on steam?

[Louis Hallée] Yes and yes! Our first game on Steam!

Autosolider- Can I play the game without having seen the movie, since the game comes out before the movie?

[Louis Hallée] Yes, the story elements are based on the movie but we made sure players would not need to have seen the movie beforehand. Still, it is cool to see what happens next to your favourite characters from the movie.

ASNSUS2099S--When you finished the game, does it start again or do you go and investigate the city?

[Louis Hallée] You can restart and try a higher difficulty or you can continue to roam the city and complete everything that’s not completed such as collecting comic book pages or fighting crimes.

Tyler1996- is there going to be like a difficulty bar? Like you could play the story on easy, normal, or hard?

[Louis Hallée] Yes, there are different difficulty levels.

Ampzen- If you fall in the water do you die or respawn on land?

[Louis Hallée] Spidey webs himself out of the water.

We know our PC fans have been eagerly awaiting news. As of today, we can announce that The Amazing Spider-Man game will be releasing for PC on August 10th, 2012.

Lots of fans have asked if ASM would be coming to Steam, and we're very happy to confirm that it will be!

Additionally, ASM on PC will be integrated with Steam Achievements.
