I've been getting this all day and this is what I did to fix it.

My router is in the basement on a small stand underneath a television. When the television is turned on, I get this message "The Call Of Duty:Modern Warfare 3 server is not available at this time.Please try again later or visit http://www.callofduty.com/mw3/status for updates. When it's turned off, I'm able to play. It's strange, but that's what fixed it for me.

I've tested this several times and it appears to be the problem.

Try relocating your router.

ooks like you have the same thing that happened to me possibly... first, go in Steam, goto Community, click your name to view your profile - middle of page far right in the 'Recently Played' stats box, are there 'ban(s) on record'? If so you were caught cheating and this is a good...

I try to see my profile... but well.... even when clicking on my profil, nothing happens except steam ask me to create a Steam ID now to chat with friends... hu?

I've had this problem on the PC, delete the game and reinstall it again but the same happens, even with the net looking for a solution but nowhere does it. Solely as I returned to the normal start a game with another buddy from the playgrounds, and later the same did it out of the house and we were maybe try and turn on you

I got the same problem occuring about 3-4 times but i just keep trying to get into xbox live and now it works

Looks like you have the same thing that happened to me possibly... first, go in Steam, goto Community, click your name to view your profile - middle of page far right in the 'Recently Played' stats box, are there 'ban(s) on record'? If so you were caught cheating and this is a good cause that error comes up alot seeing as we have a ton of n00bs around lately... you can click the 'ban(s) on record' and it would tell you which game(s) you were banned from with a 'cheating infraction' and if it does and says MW3 then shame on you, go diaf or play out in traffic.

If not, you may have been stuck with the beta update failure like myself... IF you signed up for the latest Steam beta version IT IS INCOMPATIBLE with Win 7 and some games, i.e. MW3 and Civ5 that I know for certain... to relieve this issue:

Exit Steam completely, close the TSR running in background, then:

Delete everything in Steam folder EXCEPT the Steam.exe application

**INCLUDING every file and folder EXCEPT the 'Steamapps' folder where your games are stored

Then once that's done, clcik the Steam app and it will default to the latest NON Beta version without the failure update stopping many from playing MW3 or other games... IF that doesn't work, contact Steam support for further help on that issue.

Yes, the servers down message IS a Steam issue (most of the time) NOT Activision or IW regardless of using IWnet servers or not.

massive fails all yesterday and most of today - MW3 server not available, no response from MW3 status server and games crashing out

basically FUBAR, which is "normal for activision" ...

just checked out the xbox 360 website and it says ppl may get problems signing into xbox live - could be problem

You must be lost this is the pc section.

For the UK players there seems to have been a routing issue within the country causing slow connections to websites, and also gaming services on most ISP's.

This is weird!! Thought I would go to system update in settings of the playstation!! And for some reason, it normally updates on it own but this time it didn't! There is an update for the playstation!!!

I have now done the update and gone in to mw3 and it's worked!! Try it anyone who has this problem.

Guys, this is driving me mad! Paid for elite as founder, clan ops is on, I can't connect to multiplayer! Well done activision, another quality product!! The strange thing is but annoying at the same time, is I am seeing my friends playing!!!

The status of the servers says its fine obviously it's not!!!

Any ideas anyone before I throw this game in to the bin?!!!

Got this problem myself so have given up.

Installed MW2 and the Ranked Dedicated Server Add-On and will be uninstalling MW3 tomorrow because MW2 with the ranked servers are so much better.

1st game after setting up my killstreaks I got a nuke, and didn't camp for it because there is nothing but noobs playing it lol.

I have an solution which work for me!

If do an doubleclick on the game icon in Steam it doesnt work!

But if i do an rightclick on the game icon in steam and click Start Game it work!
