Actually it can be very fun to just set and camp/defend an area waiting for that one shot and getting a head shot out of it. It can be just as adrenaline pumping as rushing around with a smg or any other weapon.

Yet you do have a point that each person may have different views of what fun is and does have the right to play as they feel and not by someone elses views.

My counter to the OP is...it can't be that satisfying to remain stationary all game waiting for someone to cross your scope.

Let people play, fun means different things to different people.

Long version:

People like winning and gettings as many kills as possible OR as few deaths as possible OR as many kills as possible WHILE doing the objective OR taking as many objectives as possible.

Some people like getting as many kills and as few deaths as they can.
Some people want to get high killstreaks and get absurd amounts of kills.

Automatic weapons are best for all of these playstyles.

Sniper rifles are only good if you want to have a good accuracy OR value skillfull kills over winning and helping your team.

Short version:
Snipers and shotguns aren't fun to play with / good enough for people who wants to win.

I loved the Garand, if any weapon ever was included in a DLC that should be the one, but that is a 3arc gun so would not happen in a IW game.

I actually find it QUITE fun to go 15-0 with an ACR or MP7. I am a hyper kind of player and can not sit still long enough to try to snipe (not QS...snipe) and I am not a fan of QS'ers. Not that I can't beat them, I just don't like them. I am horrible with a sniper rifle period. If there are things that need to be done with a sniper rifle (like pro perks in Blops) I have my son do it. He is MUCH more efficient in using a sniper rifle and is pretty good at QS'ing when the moment calls for it. He likes the single shot weapons more than the auto ones.

Simply put...every one has their own taste and opinion on what is "Fun".

Ah, semi-automatics. I've missed those guns. They were fantastic in W@W. Really loved that Gewehr 43. Also picked up the M1 Garand cause it was a 3 shot kill at all ranges so didn't really need Stopping Power.

Its why I snipe or use the semi's and pistols at times just for giggles. Nothing funner then killing a smg or ar or shotgun player with a pistol at close range and having them rage over it.

The acr and pp90 and 90% of the rest of the guns require no skill to use at all. Just aim nearby, spray, sweep area, get easy kill

I've always felt that using a bolt action weapon and getting that perfect shot was always more satisfying than just killing then with an automatic.

It is because with out full auto weapons to use they would suck. They need the spray pray to get kills. If every gun in the game was only semi, or single most of the players would cry and rage and hate it.

People use them because they are the weapons that gives them the most and easiest kills. No one snips because the maps are not suitable for them and are pointless when you have no recoil guns like the MP7. And no one uses pump shotguns, tubes or the roit sheild because IW made them weak.

When you say Snipe, what are you actually saying? Too many people use the term "Sniping" and "Quick-Scoping" as if they're the same thing. If you're talking about real legit sniping, the reason is simply that most of the maps don't allow for real sniping to take place on any serious level.
