I wouldn't mind my 8 year old playing offline but giving them headsets and letting them enter the online world is way out of the question and imo quite possibly one of the worst things you could do as a parent.

Seems to me to be a teachable moment. The kid has friends, be a parent here. Show them its not ok to cheat to get ahead, in any circumstance. Teach the value of fair play and earning what you get, the rewards will go far beyond the CoD universe.

Short answer: Yes, you can get banned for playing in a modded private lobby. Why? Whether or not it is private is irrelavant, it's the fact that someone had to literally hack the game content to procure such modded private lobbies.

Here is an example (one of my favorties)

About 2 months ago a guy posted, along with his GT, an invite to a modded private "super jump" lobby. I quickly made note of the player's GT, and reported him to Bancandy. He, and his buddy participating in the private modded lobby were both reset and banned for 48 hours.

He shouted up and down that because it was a private lobby he wouldn't be banned; well, he was quickly shown the door from the MW3 servers.

A modded lobby is, in reality, a hacked lobby. As you have to break the code of the game to "mod" it.

When you say modded do you mean actually modding the game or do you mean they just play games of quickscope against each other and try to get into glitches in these lobbies?

BTW . No Problem. Glad 2 help. I try to actually keep some of the relavent ones in case of serious games like this post who really want to follow the rules.

Then I also keep the for the ones who claim that they shouldnt have gotten banned MS is one of my "side jobs" with a different GT.

Yes the modding and glitching is one thing that definitely should raise flags.

I think the kid shouldnt be 'no scoping' (??) because the flaming that would happen from mean players.

But that statement "It takes avillage to raise a child" is just an excuse. One parent or two can raise a child as long as you teach your child what to do and what NOT to do. Plain and simple all you have to do is TALK with your child and make sure the child talks to YOU.

I only had two days a week to raise my daughter and about one hour a night. It didnt take a village to raise my daughter. I raised my child to respect others and follow the rules. I also taught her that there is a way to act and a way not to act. I also taught her there is a difference between real life and TV / Games. When she was 6 years old she saw "Terminator". She had no problems digesting that. She never had nightmares or flights of fantasy due to watching that.

Then when T2 came out she was very excited to see the "Evil Terminator". Funny thing was when Arnold shot the T1000 instead of John she was very mad at me cause I didnt tell her he was the good guy.

during both movies she thought the Terminator was cool, even with half his face gone. Because she knew it was fantasy.

When the mom left she understood very easily at 9 years old that "things sometimes dont work out". And accepted that this other guy in her life was only a freind of her moms and not her dad. By twelve she was as shar as a tack and new what to do and what not to do, what types pf kids to avoid and what types of things were OK. Because she had the option of going to a parent and asking. Even though half the time she learned it on her own.

Exactly.

I won't let my kids - two boys (6 and 4... 5 on Friday!) and my baby girl (3) - even watch me play the game due to the overall level of violence and swearing (from me! frigging lag.)

However, they watch plenty of things with violence in them and we've bought them a small freakin armada worth of light sabers and nerf dart guns. They've watched plenty of movies with violence in them and also "play fight".

Just like I did when I was a kid... except I had to use a freakin stick. These @#%^@# little brats don't know how good they have it, why I had to walk five miles.....

Oh yeah. I've got what works for me as a parent, I'm sure others have what works for them. I don't think an 8 year old should be playing COD, but that's my opinion. If he's okay with it and his kids are well-adjusted (proclivities to no-scope suggest there could be a problem though.. LOL). then it's his call and I don't think he's doing any harm to his kids or society at large with his parenting choices so long as video games and movies and tv shows are put into context... it's not real and it's not the way to act towards others.

As quick as you jump to conclusions thinking that people are trying to troll, i'm guessing that you must be a bad one. I didn't miss the parts about glitching and modding, as those parts are common sense, but to throw no scoping in there just seems dumb as it isn't against CoC. If you're really getting that defensive over a joke that flew over your head, then you really need to do something meaningful with your life other than trying to act up on an online forum.

Its cool, I took no offense to anything you said. To each his own and every parent raises their children differently. Im probably to over protective of my children. But I do let my 8 year old play CoD. We have really good times playing and spending time with eachother playing CoD (among other activities). More laughs than anything at some of the hilarious things that can happen in a game lol.

Good for you than. At least we know there are some parents out there who dont use the console as a babysitter. Im sorry if I implied you were some how neglecting or ignoring your kids. If he already knows that cheating weak and hes muting the TV before you say anything, youve already done a good job thus far.
