If your A40's are only 5 months old, well that's pretty new, keep them. They are just as good. Mine were really old, so I waited & waited & waited.... I was on there pre-order waiting list, so I got mine pre-release day. {I paid for them upfront direct from ASTRO Gaming months earlier} I was really desperate. I didn't have a decent headset for about 3 months. So getting another set of A4O's was on the cards.

They deal with the battery, ear cuffs, head padding and something else {can't remember atm} by way of sending you a free replacement kit after 12 months for the whole shabang. I also took out the extended full warranty. The A50s break, I get a totally new headset with 48 hours no matter where I am in the world.

I had the same thought about the mix amp, but my A40's were at the end of there day. I game up to 8 hours {testing as well} but they did me and I could not fault the A40's, never. The real difference is, less wiring the, optical in and "out," usb ports, true 7.1 Dolby Digital surrond sound {which you can turn off}, the ability to listen to your TV or Sound system anywhere in the house, even the back yard while sun baking and the upgraded Pro - mode.

And thanks again for linking that video, was really helpful.

They do sound like an improvement upon the a40s, which I love, but I'm slightly disappointed by the fact it needs a new mix amp. If it used my current mix amp transmitter I would upgrade and buy only the headset for example.

Can't justify spending £250 on it, and the amount I play, I can see that integrated battery getting pummelled. Only had my current headset around 5 months I think.

One of my mates is definitely buying it at some point this year, so i'l maybe have to test it out in the pro mode and listen to see if I notice an improvement.

The new mic mute when flipped up, does work flawlessly, yeah the black and orange bound wiring does look shyte hot. They are also adding customizable sound settings via there Website. so you can adjust the way "you want to hear things ingame" simply plug them into your Notebook open your account and away you go. same deal for Firmware updates. They also run on 5.8 GHZ so no interference from wireless phones, routers etc.

I did a walk test and got to the end of my back yard and I could still chat on my PS3. the flip up mic mute boom comes in handy when you have to go to the loo ha ha (im a girl)

The thing that impressed me was the build quality, (I'm a fussy buggerette) every thing feels solid and slides nicely. rubber stoppers where you never expect them stop the unit sliding or stop feed back, light weight steel slides for ear cup adjustment that once set, don't move.

Damn u make them sound pretty bloomin good. Looking forward to seeing this vid u speak of. Seen one on the astro site which seemed to showcase some dude, more than the headset.

On the uk site the info is fairly limited, I was left unsure as to the advantages of upgrading other than the odd few tweaks. The new mic mute idea is kinda cool, I'm assuming it works flawlessly? The black and orange looks sh1t hot!!!

yes whytie completely wireles. No they do not plug into the mix amp, they are 100 grams heavier than the A40's but they compinsate with extra head and ear padding. It also has true 7.1 surround sound via an optical cable thats plugs into your PS3 and the A50's base station that is very discretly hidden in the head set stand you place your A50's to charge when not in use. You can also charge them ingame via a PS3 controler cable.

The Pro Gamer setting is really mind blowing and with optical out you can listen to your TV or sound system. I will post vid made by the lead designer at ASTRO they are truly impressive. I did the research over a couple of months before there release and no matter how hard I tried to find fault I could not. The same as when I got them, I could not find fault. I also love the swing arm flexible mic option. Give me 24 hours to get the vids up I am on my tablet atm.

First time ever ive been in a situation where the enemy kept spawning in the same area over and over, and i went on a bit of a rampage.

I agree, nothing is guaranteed in MW3. That was just intelligent and good old fashioned game play. I wish I could keep that kind of game play up an entire match.

I have the ASTRO A50's with 7.1, they do make a difference

It sounds obvious but on MW3?? Come on nothing's a guarantee. I'm personally shocked they didn't spawn in the lower section behind where I was patrolling!

nice game man...well its simple, if your team stay on one side of the map, on a spawn its obvious that they are getting to respawn on the other side of the map so you can get those kills like you did
