If one is set offline and disconnected from the internet - it may work.

Though the thing about storing steam info on the local machine is bugging the back of my mind. And when one or the other reconnects to Steam it may go nuts - I've found it is very temperamental.

The only real way to know is to try - and I have no need to try - so I'm not going to

No way it will see private IP's. It doesn't matter how many computer;s you have at home, the only IP anyone sees on the outside is the one assigned to you by your Internet provider.

There may be a legit way - but I've never tried it.

One one PC - select Go Offline in Steam and that PC should be able to play signle-player campaign & sec ops

On the other - just carry on online.

Dunno if this would work though - got a feeling it might not - but worth a try?

No need for the attitude like that from you towards the other posters in the thread.

If they had been baiting you in to that answer then fair enough but they were not so there is no need for that answer.

@OP

No it cannot be done how I think you want to do it but this is how you can do it.

Use/Create a Steam account on the 1st pc.

Install the game using that Steam account from the disc if you have the disc or download it if you don't from the Steam servers.

Go to the 2nd pc and connect to that Steam account that you installed the game on.

Install the game again.

Now you have 2 pc's that the game can be played on, however you cannot play on both pc's at the same time as the account can only be logged in to 1 pc at a time.

There are ways to do it without using Steam however you will not be given that information on this forum.

I have the game installed on 2 computers, one steam account, same serial number... so yes you can, I'm doing it.

@synerge You are actually wrong. It can only be used on one Steam account... yes. You can access that Steam account from any PC though. Meaning I could come to your house log into my steam account and play the game on your PC... or the OP can log into his Dad's Steam account from his own PC and play MW3.

This is wrong. Once the CD key is used, it can't be used again on another computer.

Yes you can install it on 2 computers, nooo problem. Only one computer can be logged into that account at one time though.

*PLEASE READ ALL OF THE THREAD BEFORE ANSWERING*

So basically I want to install my dads MW3 game on to my computer,

and he hasnt touched the serial key, no one has and im definetly sure of this,

so if i install using the serial key provided of the hard copy game,

will my dad be able to play it if he installs using the same key,

also he dosent play online and never will he never plays online as he gets angry too much,

the reason i ask is because i am unsure wether the key is 1 time use which may be activated on the IW or activision servers,
