Why the hell can't Treyarch fix lag issues? Not even 24 hours ago I wa having my best game ever. Granted my kill/death ratio wasn't as high as othr people, but I was finishing every game with more kills than deaths. Today a totally different strory. People surviving DSR50 with FMJ shots to the chest and lag times of a second or two. Seriously. What is going on here? I do not even have elite on Xbox.

Overall I would say that my experiences have pointed to leaving the Elite app deleted. I never used it anyway, so its just going to stay deleted. If anything it makes me FEEL better, so I have that.

Last night was the worst experience I've had on this game so far. I've just deleted Elite from my Xbox 360, cleared the cache and will be resetting my router before going online. I'll report back if theres any noticeable difference...if you dont hear from me, then take it then I'll have quit MW3 and moved to BF3.

ok, here's my verdict. after playing several matches last night (which appeared to be a bad night) i had to just back out and delete ELITE. i mean it was horrible. hit detection was non existent and it felt like my gun was all over the place! you know like when you swing left to sight in and you over shoot and when you ADS the sights are now pointing up.... anyways, it was bad so i deleted and wal-la. things were crisp again. the flow felt good and hit detection was back on track. my buddy got on with me and we played for hrs. it was good times with the occasional WTF moment but nothing in comparison to the way it was. so for me, i'm rolling w/o ELITE and Theater mode turned off! this has been far the best set up for me.

also, to the whole bad night thing...i say that b/c there were several people already complaining before i deleted and partied up..

Now played 4 hours with and compared to 4 hours with out. For this respondent the appropriate noun is misnomer.

Tried about 20 games tonight after deleting Elite and to be honest about half the games felt like I had equal connections to the other team. But, the lag on the other half felt a little worse than usual so I have not concluded either way if it helped.

It may have just been a bad night for Lag in general so I will keep it as is and try a few more nights to get a better picture. Hey it is at least worth the try because this game is way off on my end for sure.

Tried deleting it on my PS3. First game was fine, then it was a lot more lag like usual over the next two hours.

Thanks for the above response, I found the elite files...duh...was looking in the MW3 folder LOL!!! I have 2 files: Main elite one and an update. Will delete both and go one step further and clear my system cache just incase some elite code is in there. Reboot and try it out tonight.

Update: Reinstalled Elite App. Same crap as before. Im going to play a little more with the Elite App installed to make sure, then most likely uninstall it for good.

In real time you where already dead. And thats why you experience such features.

Best way to explain this in an example using extreme numbers:

Facts:
Player A has no lagg (is host for all i care)
Player B has 10 seconds lagg.

Senario: no lagg compensation

Player B will never hit player A, because ***player B's real time is not the server's real time***. For the server player B is missing his shots. Since player A's body is actualy 10 seconds ahead of what player B sees. Giving player A host advantage.

Senario: with lagg compensation tuned to 10 seconds.

Player B sees player A. Player A is already 10 seconds ahead of time. But lagg compensations rerolls player A 10 seconds back. So it will put player A at the same spot that player B aims. Rewarding player B with a kill.

***Player B's real time(up to 10 seconds) became server real time.***
For player A it is wierd. Player B might have not been arround a corner yet, or player A might have already been behind cover and is "pulled back".
In a CQB head to head situation player B will always win. In any other situation player A and B will experience equaly wierd moments. Player B will also be "pulled back" if he does not spot player A on time.

Senario with optimal lagg compensation of 0.1 seconds.

Player A and B's connection is actualy almost equal. Player B's lagg is 0.1 second. That is enough to not hit a running target if there is no compensation. However since the lagg compensation is equal to the lagg in this example, player B gets a kill. Also for player A it will mean that he only gets pulled back 0.1 seconds, wich will also feel natural (unless you are a trained gamer/athlete/naturaly gifted).
In a CQB head-to-head situation the chances are quite equal. Player B will be so close to his real body that players A's 0.1 second host advantage is nullified by players B's 0.1 second lagg advantage.

I probably miss spelled some words and miss typed some lines. But it should be somewhat more understandable. Atleast, unless in MW3 lagg compensation works different all together (wich i doubt).

I think (think) that because Elite is linked to your GT, and you DL via the XBL store, you should be able to DL all future DLC without a problem.

To delete the Elite app go into your HDD memory and look for "Elite app" and delete it. Leave the maps you already DLed, those are fine. Restart your xbox. Test it out. Post back here once youve tried it. Interested to see how many people with connection problems see a "fix" by doing this.

Anyways I skimmed through this thread but have a few questions.

1: Kinda lost as to just what to delete. I already dlownloaded the 2 maps but got lost on my harddrive as to just what to delete. Just want to make sure on this as what is what.

2: Will this cause any problems with getting future maps and content as an elite. I mean I assume you just re-install it with your activation code and pick up where you left off?

Ok these may seem stupid questions but I do need help with the lag on my end but I don't want to cause new problems in the process. thanks for your time.

but when we meet in the game, his advantage will be my handicap... at least thats how i understand it.... because in my experience, its only certain players that i seem to be behind.. some die just fine while others eat 10 shots or shoot around corners etc...

Lagg comp should only apply to the person lagging. Atleast in theory. Lagg comp only rerolls the server for the person lagging, in this case the lagg comp is over tuned. It roll back so many MS that it gives the lagging person an advantage.

When someone with a high ping enters, the server doesnt add artificial lagg (atleast it should not, or i might be mistaken). The lagging player gains an advantage, you dont gain a handicap (thats two different things). Ofcourse depending how you look at it, you might disagree, but in theory its two different things.

i thought region too.... but im pretty prime and suffer from it pretty bad...

18ms to toronto, 25 to montreal and 34 to NYC.... what i always wondered, if it is somehow averaging out players... maybe it just takes one person with a bad ping to increase lag comp to everyone...

people always love to jump on and say "oh its all local players" but how do you know? maybe the other 10 people are in your area and its a good fit for all... then 1 guy from the sticks that has no available games in his area joins yours....

Interesting results after 5ish games, 2 of which I jumped in halfway through.

Last game I jumped in was 130-100. I went 23-3 in last 3 minutes of game, which would be a difficult for me normally, since I had to play slower. It seems to play better. Seemed to have better hit detection. Is it in my head a la a placebo effect?

Could I have had frame rate lag for some reason with the Elite app installed, and then uninstalling it made it go away?

Stats that might be helpful.

Xbox 360: the last model of the old style before the slim. 250 GB HDD, 196 GB empty.

Playing wired, up to 35 mbps DL, 5 UL. Generally get around 25 mbps DL, 3 UL. Pingtest grade is A. 22 ms ping, 4 ms jitter, 0 packet loss.

i can see elite causeing lagg do to bandwidth cap along with the player data being downloaded from the xbox to the profile back up servers then to the elite servers to make the data for the elite stats i wonder how often elite updates the stats ? i guess its real time

After reading the thread the first time i had my hopes up. I read all of mac's replies (obviously they made sense) and i figured to myself what it could be. The only explaination is that elite might delay your data from beeing send to the host. But i highly doubt that happens...

My interwebs is 13 megb down and 1 megb down (not super awesome). For some reason im always a good 0.2 seconds behind (normal reaction time of a human) and when im the host (wich is even worse than normal) im like 0.5 seconds behind xD.

Fun fact is that on a LAN with friends i come out as number 1(with quite a large margin), but when i play online (private match, same people) i should be happy with a middle mode.
Makes me smile of pain...

hmm. well, i'm still thinking or beginning to think even more that this is region related. and that this all ties back into the servers for those locations. but macc would probably better at breaking that down.

I can see elite causing some issues. I dont know if the app on the dash pulls the info directly from the xbox servers, or if it pulls it off elite's servers like the website does. If you ask me anything that tracks stats, heatmaps and every little detail about a game has to have somewhat of a negative consequence towards the game. I am going to delete off my xbox tonight and give it a try. I think i have looked at it on the xbox maybe once or twice anyway.
