It is the persons "rank" earned from the clans games. Currently everyone is a "Private" and this will only change once the Clan Operations start and as members participate in clan games/events. It's no different than going into Special Ops within the game and seeing a different rank than your online multiplayer.

While I don't see the need to be able to assign ranks to members, it would be nice to designate another person in the group as a "co-manager."

I was wondering if the emblem next to the clan members is that persons rank in the clan? if so is that something that is to come later? if not is that something that can be implamented? Like the Clan leader can give a certain rank to the clan member? i think this would be a great addition.
