i have had this annying disk read error since late August early September. but now my MW3 wont even load the multiplyer or spec ops only the campain, so does anyone know if they know somewhere where you can get a disk repair because all my other ps3 games are no problem its just MW3

This happened to me to and I know what's wrong and how to fix it. What it is one of the times you were playing it overheated which either warped the disc or the PS3/Xbox recording system caught this incident and locked that particular disc from the unit. So all you have to do is trade it in. The reason that recording feature is in there is to prevent you from burning your system up. I hate this to. It's not IW's fault it's the consoles fault for locking it out. IW can't do anything about this because they are not aloud to mess with the game consoles do to registered trademarks, business agreements ETC. Hope this helps cause I play this game on the PS3 as well, can't stand the Xbox Ugh.

Hi. Will somebody please explain why I keep having disk read errors on certain maps. It really get frustrating. It does not allow me to play my favorite maps anymore like Dome, Mission, or Hardhat. My internet connection is well, and it never did it before until one random day. It did it once in awhile, but gradually got worse as I played. My friend is experiencing this with Terminal, as far as he knows. I just would like a answer from someone and how to fix the problem. Please commit back a solution for the problem. Thank you.

I posted to this thread a while ago, after experiencing the same problems. And my solution was simple ... I went out and bought a new console ... and guess what, problem still existed. I therefore assumed that the problem was 100% with the programming etc, just like everyone else on this thread.

But then I thought, maybe the message I am seeing, really is true, and I went and bought a new disc. And the new disc worked PEFECTLY

So I then knew that in fact the problem was my original game disc. But I don;t mistreat my discs, so could not understand why I was having the problem at all. So I inspected my original disc, carefully, and lo and behold, there was the problem. There were micro scratches on the original game disc, caused only by leaving the disc lying around from time to time. This is the true problem, people. And the way to fix it, or prevent it, is simply to always pop your disc in the case when you are not using it, and handle it carefully without touching the data surface. Since I have followed my own advice with my new game disc, I have never had a problem.

Possibly the file system on your ps3 is corrupted,

Try a System File Restore first. It won't delete any files off your console.

Simply do the following:

1. Power cycle your console

a. Hold down the i/o power button down for three beeps. 1st beep turns it on, 2nd beep does nothing, 3rd beep turn its off

b. Make sure you hold down the i/o power button the whole time

2. Power cycle your console again

a. Same steps as one

b. However this time the third beep will be a rapid beep

3. Plug in your control via USB

4. You will see a new menu with six options

5. Select Option Three: System File Restore

a. This will not delete any files on your console, it will only restore any corrupted files

6. Follow the instructions on the screen

If that doesn't work, then your blu-ray diode is burnt out in your disc drive. it would need to be replaced then. Send it off to another reputable third party repair shop.

I started having this issue a few days ago. I've had my copy since the midnight release and no issues up till this point. Tried the whole unistall update, install game(360) step by step and it didn't seem to work for me. I did notice however that it began after I downloaded the Collection 4 maps. I was going to try just deleting all the maps I downloaded, but noticed that a lot of the spec ops maps were 100mb+ so I deleted those, cleared cache in my HDD, and now I'm back in business. I don't play spec ops missions anyways, so it wasn't a big lost for me. If you guys are still have the same issue, I would go ahead and give that a try as well if you haven't.

Since I updated to 1.20 I've got about 5 or 6 disk read errors... is this just a patch issue or should I be worried that my Blu-ray reader on my PS3 is on its way out?

You have been hacked or infected by someone. Try making a new psn account on your ps3 until the virus is gone.This happend to me and i did this and waited 5 days and it worked.

This seemed to fix my disk error problem

From the ps3 menu,

2. Select Internet Browser.

3. After the Internet Browser appears press the Triangle button.

4. Select Tools on the Options menu.

5. Select Delete Cookies and Delete Cache

6. delete game data utility for MW3 (witch is the update)

7. reinstall update and it should work.

never had this problem untill the latest patch... now its every other match i play on team defender, freezing and giving the disc read error

i was having the same problem until i took it out and cleaned the disc but i didnt have the problem till i downloaded the new update and/or the terminal map

I'm so sick of this game and the freaking disc errors on the PS3. everything else works flawlessly except for MW3. funny enough black ops 1 crashed my old fatty PS3 from multiple hard freezes which i replaced with the slim model. Not one word of admission from the developers of this horrible game that causes frequent disc errors and hard freezes. Moral of the story i havent turned on my 360 for the past year and a half but i'm probably going to get Black Ops 2 for the 360 as ps3 really gets the shaft every time in the call of duty series.

Had this problem all day on Xbox gave up when it happened in every match i played. Also had a similar problem on the PS3 but there i got a freeze every time i played WaW and when i played MW2 the game quits automatic and sends me back to dashboard.

And it only happens in these games specific, but for some reason they work fine when im not signed in.

I found I can go on Private match without a hitch, but I hit a disk read error when I so much as go in a lobby on proper multiplayer. I had the problem starting 3 patches ago, then after the patch of the new maps I didn't get a single error, after the patch today it's simply unplayable!

I've been having the same issue for the last two weeks. I've tried cleaning the lens, leaving the ps3 on its side, cleaning the disk, to no avail. It is not just MP. Special ops crashes too. I havan't played the campaign, but I'm sure that would crash also. Also like someone else pointed out it seems to happen everytime a loud noise happens near me like a predator missile. I would say I can only finish 1 out of 5 games. We paid a lot of money for this game, so I wish they would at least address the issue.
