A stable high quality line doesn't need interleaving.

Then again, if the only game he cares about is BO2, an increase in latency is not a bad thing because of the broken lag compensation. Until they fix the netcode that is, if they ever do.

You connection is a bit slower now, as in higher latency. If your line was working fine without interleaving, you should've probably just left it that way as you don't need the error correction.

The lower the latency, the better for online games (with working netcode). MW3 and BO2 are exceptions because the broken lag compensation turns everything around. Good connections are hindered and bad connections get the advantage. This is up to the devs to fix and we shouldn't have to be forced to dumb down our connections to try to get rid of the disadvantage.

100% agreed. Two of the biggest problems with the game right there. For me the lag compensation issue is so bad I can't even play the game. I mean, what would be the point when I constantly get instakilled and my bullets just don't seem to kill anyone. Can't even go positive most of time even though I maintained a ratio of 2+ in BO1 and often got games with 25+ kills and <5 deaths so my ratio was going up. I also did well in MW2, where there were zero lag issues. Not for me and not for people in general.

I wonder how they managed to make the netcode worse than it was in BO1. This game plays just like MW3 did, or worse. If they built this game on BO1s engine, why is it this much worse? It's almost as if they took this lag comp BS netcode directly from MW3. Many of the killstreaks seem to be more or less copy/pasted from there. Dragonfire = Recon Drone, Lodestar = Reaper, EMP, AGR = Assault Drone, Escort Drone = AH-6.

I also noticed that this game has the same problems detecting my NAT type than MW3 did. If I remove my port forwards, both MW3 and BO2 keep claiming my NAT is Open, which is not true. MW2 and BO1 both immediately say Moderate. I wonder if this has something to do with the networking issues.

A lot of similarities, in features and issues. I wish the devs would stop ignoring this lag compensation issue and tell us what's going on. Is it getting fixed or not?

The first FFA I get into everyone has a solid four bar connection (matchmaking works). I get instakilled three times in a row, by different players. No indication whatsoever that I'm taking damage. The enemies come from behind a corner and before I have a chance to do anything I'm dead. Left match -> host migration. Same exact experience I had in MW3. Same BS sync issues in every match, the worst when hosting.

I'm still waiting for dev input on this. I noticed on Twitter that Vahn was asking for footage of this issue, so at least they're not completely ignoring it. Sadly I don't have a capture card, but if any of you do it would be great if you sent him some footage of the broken lag compensation in action. Still, I'd like them to join the conversation and tell us if they're working on a fix and how it's going. The game is unplayable for me, can't really find any playable lobbies.

There are the games where you glitch around the map but other COD's had that. It's the gun fights you lose when you get off a round first etc. Makes it all the more frustrating. 4 Bar means nothing in this game.

Quoted for truth. This is the same exact problem I'm having in this game, the same issue existed in MW3 and the devs admitted that it's because of the broken lag compensation.

My bullets just don't kill and I constantly get instakilled, because the game's netcode puts me at a constant disadvantage due to my low latency connection.

Enough off-topic, kiddo. This thread is about the broken lag compensation. I didn't even read half of that wall of text and I'm sure I'm not missing out on anything important.

Treyarch is working on several things. Obviously they're working on the matchmaking issues alot of people have been experiencing. Before the patch matchmaking stopped working completely for me and I've read that people are still having similar issues with it post-patch, so that's obviously what he was referring to.

Again, if it was matchmaking that was broken, lobbies would be full of 1-2 bar people. That's not the case. I have yet to see a lobby where someone has 2 bars or less. The majority always has 4 bars, alot of the time everyone does. Players are being matchmade properly, hence the low pings.

The problem is the broken netcode. In MW2 people with high latencies (for example 200ms) didn't cause any sync issues. Such people and the host had an equal chance in a gun fight against each other. No one had an advantage.

The netcode in BO2 can't handle even the slightest variance in latency properly, it seems. Even four bars players (0-100ms latency) are completely out of sync with each other.

maccabi wrote:

while it's commendable and slightly emabassing for us to see that you insist on constantly replying to any thread that mentions lag or lag comp ect and continually seek to discredit myself and others

OH THE IRONY.

In MW2 matchmaking worked, people in the lobby usually had either four bars or three bars (0-200ms latency) and everyone was in sync.

In MW3 and BO2 lobbies are full of people with four bars or three bars, so if they haven't changed the scale of those latency indicators, matchmaking works just as well. In fact, with the player base this big I've gotten some lobbies where everyone has four bars, meaning everyone has <100ms latency to the host. So, matchmaking works well in this game aswell. If it was matchmaking that's broken, lobbies would be full of 1-2 bar players, which is not the case.

So, why does the one with a higher latency get an advantage? Broken lag compensation. In MW2 a 3 bar player (100-200ms) and the host both had an equal chance in a gun fight against each other, because the netcode worked. If in BO2 a 3 bar player goes against the host, he has a huge advantage. Same as in MW3.

The worst games I've had in this game has been as the host. Can barely get any of my bullets to register and from my point of view I die instantly when someone shoots at me. Just like in MW3.

Basically, MW2 handled latencies up to 200ms very well, everyone was in sync. BO2 can't even keep lobbies full of four bar players in sync, because of the broken lag compensation. And it's always the people with low latencies that get the disadvantage and vice versa, from my experience.

MW3 and BO2 are the ONLY online games that don't work properly on my connection using my router/modem. Everything else works perfectly fine. The problem is NOT on my end. It's the broken netcode.

Remember that MW3 has this same problem and the devs have admitted that this problem exists and it is indeed the game that is broken.

So yeah, enough with this modem thing. I wouldn't recommend anyone buying a new modem for this game. Chances are it's not going to make any difference, because the problem is with the game itself. Which is why I'd like to keep this thread on topic and focused on the core issue, which is the broken netcode.

Again, any dev input would be appreciated.
