This is a problem when it comes to buffing them unfortunately, as you risk making them too good when used with the right setup. Why did IW give them the damage proficiency in the first place? Completely unnecesary in my opinion.

I'm fine with that. What I'm not fine with are that alot of the 'challenging' weapons in this game have absolutely no superior stats to the mainstream weapons. Sure, keep the weapon challenging to use (recoil, damage, ROF etc) but at least make up for it's disadvantages in some way, no matter how small.

Honestly, you keep implying that balancing weapons is going to make them harder to use. Where on earth did you get that from? Also, your bullets not 'doing' anything in battlefield has absolutely nothing to do with balance. Look at the statistics, they will tell you what is and isn't balanced, and from a statistic standpoint, battlefield's weapons are FAR better balanced between each other compared to CODs. In certain situations, you are better with X weapon over Y weapon in battlefield and vise versa, but in COD, there are weapon's that don't even have a place compared to others. As for the connection argument, please, just please, stop. Honestly, your connection isn't going to magically make an AK better than an ACR, or a UMP better than a PM-9, that is purely the stats that decide that. Please answer me this question trialstar, what is wrong with giving a weapon a superior stat and an inferior one to balance it out? Why have one gun with all the good stats and leave others hanging? Can't they all have equal uses like BFs guns? Some may be more challenging to use, but at least give them redeeming features...

Range is ok, but I find that it is only marginally better than damage at longer distances, and damage will drastically help you at closer range. Also, only fire from the hip with steady aim, it gives you the tighest possible spread, and less spread = more damage on target.

Like you said, little things won't make much of a difference really, but the thing is, they don't have to make a big difference. If a weapon has a little more recoil, lets give it a little faster reload time say, or if a weapon does less damage, lets increase the range of it's drop off start and end a little, just to balance things out a bit. The differences don't have to be huge, not by a long shot. Just look at DICE, they release dozens of tiny little tweaks to weapons and attatchments every patch to try and find the best possible balance in the game, and their game is already 10x more balanced than MW3 could ever hope to be.

Not at all. Maybe if a weapon had say, more recoil than another weapon, but had advantages in other areas, then yes, you would have to adapt to the weapon in order to get used to the recoil, but you would reap the other benefits the weapon has to offer. There is no logical point adapting to a weapon which has no advantages anyway to a weapon which is easier to use, other than to just use it for the sake of it being there. Seriously, how often do you see a CM-901 or PM-9 being used compared to an ACR or PP90? Very little. If they just gave the inferior weapons some redeeming features then we would see more variety in gameplay, let alone a more balanced game.

Ok, hold on dragon. You cannot make the 'this weapon has this much recoil and this much damage in real life' argument because Call of Duty games have NEVER followed realistic weapon design, ever. Why does an ACR do more damage than a SCAR-L? Why do 50. cals do the same damage as the 7.62x51mm sniper rifles? Why does the P99 do the same damage as the desert eagle? Anyway, I'm going to take a look back at our good friend Battlefield and the way their weapons work:

Every weapon in the assualt rifle catagory do the same damage and have the same damage drop offs bar the G3A3. Why? Because they all fire very similar bullets, therefore giving them the same damage values is realistic. But how do they balance them??? Simple. Recoil, spread and rate of fire. Weapons with a higher rate of fire tend to have higher recoil and spread values, making them superior at close range and harder to work with at long. Weapons with lower ROF have lower recoil and spread, making them better at long range. The balancing is simple and gives players a reason to use every weapon. Sure, certain weapons stand out above the rest, but those weapons will still be outperformed at certain ranges by weapons which are superior at those ranges.

My question is, why can't COD devs just look at the weapons which are clearly at a disadvantage and do them some favours, or look at the superior ones and tone them done a bit? Even DICE has acknowledged the overuse of the almighty M16 and are upping the recoil for an upcoming patch to bring it on par with other weapons, why can't IW do the same? Weapons should be better than one another in certain aspects, but worse in others. Why must IW insist on these 'God' guns?

I agree with you to an extent, mainly due to the fact that I enjoy destroying scrubs with the 'inferior' weapons. Although I do prefer Battlefields way of incorperating weapon balance. X weapon will beat Y weapon in close range, Y weapon will destroy X weapon at long range, Z weapon will be viable at all ranges, but master at none, and these are just the assualt rifles im talking about. Works for Battlefield, but Call of Duty tends to have far less open maps, and the recoil they give their weapons is miniscule in comparison. Making an assualt rifle superior at long range (AK-47 for example) will be overlooked seeing as we already have another weapon with no recoil that performs just as well at the same range (ACR). They could at least give the AK some form of niche, not one that will allow it to dominate gunfights, but something small, like reload time or ADS speed, i don't know.

It just doesnt make sense to me, considering the USAS fires over 2x as fast as the model/spas, and has that sexy sprint multiplier.

Thanks for making the return

The fact of the matter is, the druganov is outclassed by every other sniper rifle. Sure, a good player can perform ok with an AA12 or Druganov, but as soon as you give him, say, a striker or RSASS, he will immediately start performing better. Its not about how well you can do with a weapon, its about how well that weapon performs compared to others.
