Total Players Online Vs Total players in Playlist (please help)

egg. sometimes i see 500.000 total players online. but like 275,000 total players in playlist. when i go to team deathmatch for example i would now see 160,000/275,000 which would mean its 160,000 players playing team deathmatch and lets say 80,000/275,000 in kill confirmed. so my question is what is the 500,000 total players online for?

Libertation - its ight, not my favorite, hate the spawns 6/10
Piazza - beautiful map, love it 8/10
Overwatch - excellent map, whoever did this is a genius 9/10
Black Box - Love it, beautiful map as well, well done 8.5/10
