It has been longer than normal since the last time I shared Gunslinger updates here. There is a perfectly good reason, however. There was a Gunslinger wedding of sorts over the weekend. Myself and GS*Toezer married. Unrelated yet just as special, GS*Nightfury's wife gave birth to their first child over the weekend as well.

When we write about being adult gamers who game around a busy schedule, these are the sort of life developments we mean. I know all too often the overall gaming clan community is full of groups feuding over trumped up online dramas. Let them have it, and come join the Gunslingers instead. We are a group full of real people with real lives you can relate to.

I think you need to reread the original post, to which it (and the follow-up post) was what I was replying. The assertion made in this thread is that Wii U hacks for Black Ops 2 is not only being used but are being implemented at such a regular occurrence that the game is becoming impossible to play. That (at the time this reply is being written) is, at best, a wildly inaccurate claim that will do nothing but prematurely usher in the vicious cycle of claiming other players won matches through glitching and hacks...an experience that plagued every Nintendo Wii online experience.

Speaking of inaccuracies, it is not correct that those sites you mentioned had "0 replies" up to recently. Double checking the claim (because I certainly want nothing to do with those sites otherwise), there was plenty of discussion that centered around "progress reports," pointing out that the Wii portion of the Wii U system was still hackable, and expressing frustration, which must be undoubtedly born from an irrational entitlement complex, over Nintendo securing the console better than they did with the Wii during the last six months. Yes, there is certainly a buzz about a breakthrough in the ongoing effort to try to get other people's hard work for free and upset the continuity of consumers being able to enjoy their purchases, but that, again, is a far cry from the assertion that the cheating is already being rolled out and making the game impossible to play. That's my point.

I am not denying that a concerted effort to hack the Wii U is taking place. My hope is that Nintendo is in a better position to respond and patch hacking, and there is enough of a difference between the Wii and Wii U to feel said hope is not necessarily foolhardy.

As mentioned above, the video that supposedly showcases a Wii U hack in question is actually featuring Xbox360 gameplay, not Nintendo Wii U gameplay.

But, considering it is "one video of MANY describing the hacks on call of duty wii u," it shouldn't be hard to provide more examples.

Right?

While there is no such thing as unhackable technology, I sincerely doubt we will ever need to deal with what we had to deal with on the Wii at the same rate of occurance.

I would have to see it to believe it, to be honest. I am not entirely eager to give fodder to the folks who claim foul any time they get beat in a match.

Not buying the next COD is exactly what I did when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 hit shelves for the Wii. After the first Black Ops caused abnormal damage to my Wii's disc drive (something that Nintendo knowledged and replaced for free even beyond warranty) and the game's manual referencing upcoming DLC that never occurred, I wrote off the Call of Duty franchise on a Nintendo console regardless of which developer was putting out the title.

The pre-release developer's video claiming that Nintendo was finally getting a full COD experience combined with this website referencing Nuketown pre-order bonuses for the Wii U (check out one of the screencaps of the official pre-order page some people wisely took prior to the company taking it down for reference) are what changed my mind. I made a consumer decision based on false information. Not to sound too pointed, but it really is false advertisment. Now, I don't mean the term in the same manner as the whiny, inexperienced teenager sort-of-way that is also just as strongly applied to wanting their money back because they think target finder is over-powered. I mean false advertisment in customer-speak, and valid claims do not restrict customers to only shrugging their shoulders and promising not to buy a company's next product.

That said, these forums are not the proper method in which to ask for your money back nor the correct or only entity in which to file a customer claim.

And, for the record, I, too, am sick of scrolling past all the DLC concerns, but not nearly as much as my frustration over the concerns being justified.

I know what you are thinking. You read the phrase "...clan for adults" in the title of this topic, but what does that mean? How are you supposed to know if we are the gaming group for you?

Let's throw out some pop cultural references and see if they seem familiar.

If you not only remember the character Ernest P. Worrell, but you remember him in soda commercials...

If you thought, regardless of the children crying, White Lion probably didn't have the answer to world peace...

I wouldn't yet read too much into the lack of the Wii U being mentioned. As posted by other responders to this topic, the inclusion of Nintendo is traditionally announced later than Sony or Microsoft.

That said, the only COD title that a Nintendo home console hasn't got during this generation of gaming was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Infinity Ward released that title, and, as you all know, it is their turn at bat with Ghosts.

In effort to derail a thread meant to derail, I actually really like BO2 on the Wii U. I mean, I must. To despise a game yet take the time to log into its official forums only to construct negative topics about it would be rather sad. Right?

I have an issue with the lack of DLC. Of course. But the game is good. I am loving the various options of controls, the multiple ways to play two-player in multiplayer mode, and the patch attention by developers makes me incredibly thankful that my online COD experience is no longer highjacked by hacker/glitchers.

Oh, and one more thing...

I double checked the Sony Playstation Store today (something you could have done any time prior to posting, may I add). And it DOES have the option to purchase the digital copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Here is the direct link to its purchase page so we can finally move beyond this misconception:

It was the terrible 10% because you, indeed, can purchase digital copies of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (as well as a whole library of other titles published by Activision) on both the Playstation and Xbox Live Store.

I think some points are being missed here. The lack of DLC is not because of A_Trey_U. It is not because of Treyarch. Hell, it isn't even a Black Ops 2 issue. The absense of DLC is due to Activision and their inability to reach a business agreement with Nintendo.

Take a look at the "Wii U Games" section of the Nintendo Wii U Eshop. That section consists of games that are only available in physical disc form. Notice that all but one of the games listed in that section are published by Activision.

Now, take a look at the "Downloadable Content" section of the Nintendo Wii U Eshop. There is NO content for games published by Activision in this category.

Until we start seeing Activision titles being even available as digital copies in the Eshop, there is no reason to hold out hope for Black Ops 2 DLC. That isn't to say it is wise for Activision to not come to an agreement with Nintendo, regardless of their qualms over how Nintendo handles digital purchases. I, for one, will certiainly be more inclined to purchase a Ubisoft title for the Wii U from this point forward because, clearly, they are in the position to offer DLC possiblities for their customers.

If Activision is unwilling to listen to their consumers (note: I did not say "fanbase" which implies other things) about DLC even despite the constant drumming on this forum, on Miiverse, and on practically any Nintendo focused message board, then, ultimately, it is their own missed business opporunity. Why should any customer, who may be faced with a purchase decision between Activision and their competitors, pick the Activision title?

It has become clear that the value of an Activision game is inherently less than that of their competitors on the retail shelf because future add-ons are not available regardless if the initial price tag is the same.

As we do some last minute laundry before the work week starts on Monday, here are some exciting updates taking place within the Gunslingers:

The Gunslingers is OVER 6,000 Members Strong! An incredible milestone happened this week. Within a few months shy over our six year anniversary as a gaming group, the Gunslingers gained our 6,000th member. We have had over two thousand fellow parent and adult gamers join our posse since this time last year. I sincerely thank everyone for their continued support in making us the #1 home for gamers looking for a casual gaming experience!

Google Documents Now Supported in GS Forums! We have many members interested in putting together events and features for their fellow gamers. To encourage said creativity, we have installed the ability for any registered member to embed Google documents they have made in forum posts by merely using "[googledoc]" tags. Enjoy!

Two New Games Added to GS Arcade! One of the perks of being a Gunslinger member is getting access to our retro-style custom arcade in which we routinely install new titles. Of recent, we have added "De-Animator," a title based on Lovecraft's work, and "Who Wants to be a Millionaire," which is based on the television game show of the same name. Can you earn the highscore? Is that your final answer?

The GS Voice Chat Channel is Live! In addition to your in-game chat options, the Gunslingers also have a Raidcall channel that all members are welcome to use. The channel is aptly entitled "Gunslinger Gaming." It's free. It's extremely light on resources. And it is very easy to set up!
