Cannot connect to online services

Whenever I press "play" in MW3 multiplayer, it displays "Connecting to online services..." for about 2 minutes and then displays a message saying something along the lines of "MW3 servers are not available at this time, please visit <link> for status updates.". There is clearly no problem with the servers, as I can currently see several of my Steam friends playing it. Also, nothing is wrong with my internet, I can connect to multiplayer in all other Steam games. I tried verifying my game cache, nothing. Can someone help? It's been like this for 2 days, and it's pissing me off. I paid $60 for this game, and if it's not working, huge waste of money.
