Re: Concerning the UAV spam

I agree with the original poster, but I think it's just how everyone evolved and the community has evolved since COD4/WaW. The reality is, I think a lot of this is more mental than anything. This game is so fast paced and the spawns are so dynamic, the orange dot watchers will always lose. If you can "free yourself" from the obsession over the fact that a UAV is up and just play the game, you'll be amazed at how effective you'll be. If you're watching in front of you and the opponent is chasing dots on his mini map you will usually win when you meet up head to head.

The original poster is exactly right though. Absolutely everyone had a 3 kill UAV in COD4/WaW and it was just part of the game and people rarely ever used UAV Jammer. And there were no CUAVs and you couldn't shoot them down! It was just part of the game and it's what we fell in love with. To be honest, the pace of this game reminds me of COD4 because of the UAVs and the map size.

Re: They banned my xbox but it was worth it!!!

Well, I find this hard to believe because it is almost unprecedented. It is "very early" though, as some have said. That certainly could put a bullseye on anyone this early. It's another thing when it's this Friday, and thousands more are playing. I've personally had access to both MW3 and Black Ops and started playing when the servers came on, which was about 3-4 days early.

People referencing the halo 4 bans, that was a few weeks ago and yes, those were totally leaked and pirated copies. Not legitimate, packaged retail discs.

Lastly, check this out. As you know, Halo 4 officially launches tomorrow. However, even last Friday the developer tweeted this, which was retweeted by Xbox Support, which is how I saw it:

Some folks playing Halo 4 today were banned in-game on accident. Technical glitch. We're working on the fix and so sorry for the error.

A short time later, they tweeted this: The banning issue was resolved at 6PM and pre-release traffic has returned to normal. Apologies again for the inconvenience.

So there you go, even people playing Halo 4 early were "accidently" banned 4 days early and the developer apologized and fixed it. Then stated "pre-release traffic has returned to normal."

Re: Level Progression

I sort of feel like others in that I don't fully understand the entire system and there are many things we don't know about, like some of the equipment and how certain things affect gameplay.

I have a few random thoughts if it helps. In the One of Swords podcast you (Vahn) say that when you Prestige, you can choose to take one item with you. Is this like a Prestige token? For example, let's say Ghost unlocks at level 20 and I choose to use an unlock token and unlock it at that time. When I Prestige at 55, can I choose Ghost as my "one item" to take with and does that mean it will be available at level 4 (Create A Class unlock) after I Prestige the first time?

If I understand this correctly, I think it will be somewhat irrelevant as to when things unlock. There are always going to be people that lock in a certain way and never Prestige no matter what, and some that will Prestige and take those "clutch" or valuable items with. Therefore, I feel it's ultimately irrelevant.

Wildcards, however, are really awesome and maybe should unlock higher. The ability to double up a Perk Tier or run 3 attachments is awesome and should require a higher level. Then again, many won't Prestige and many will just choose to take that Wildcard as their Prestige item (assuming they can) and it all goes back to my irrelevancy of unlock levels.

I personally like this and feel it's a good compromise. My fear was that Awareness would cancel out Dead Silence, which is ridiculous. You could essentially have a situation in which everyone is using Dead Silence & Awareness with the Greed card and everyone may as well be using nothing in their 3rd Tier. I personally also benefit from using Dead Silence simply due to the fact it drowns out my footsteps, which allows me to better hear what's going on around me.

Ultimately, based on Vahn's second post in this thread, "soundwhores" may once again be disappointed as they were in Black Ops with the sound mixing. We're all hoping for the MW2 Sitrep Pro elephant footsteps, which will likely never happen again.

As Vahn has stated, there shouldn't be anything that's black & white and I like that philosophy. Not everything needs a counter. Game balance, Equipment balance, Perk balance, etc, is not always about having a counter, but giving other things value. For example, Marathon or Extreme Conditioning. There's no counter for these, but they're made valuable by other desirable 3rd Teir Perks. If you're playing CTF, for example, and everyone is running Marthon Pro, what adavantage do you have? That's why, despite the hatred, Second Chance in Black Ops, made things like Marathon and Tac Mask Pro valuable.

Essentially an attempt to better balance the 3rd Tier.

Perk balance in the game doesn't mean everything should have a counter. Some perks exist so that others are valuable. If there are counters to everything, why have any perks?

I'm confident that we won't see the same thing in Black Ops 2.

Here's the problem with Assassin. First of all, UAV spam alone is what forces Assassin. If there was a Perk that ONLY hid you from Portable Radar, and countered the affects of CUAV and EMP and it took up a Perk slot, no one would use it. IW's answer was, "We split up the benefits of Ghost Pro so it's balanced." This answer is flawed (and a FAIL) because Blind Eye is by far the least used Perk in the game. Showing the bizarre psychology that people will die from a Predator or Helicopter without even thinking about it, yet they're terrified to show up on a UAV.

I think Assassin would be ok as is in this game IF a UAV didn't exist in the Assault Package. And especially at a 2 kill with hardline. People seem to think it's Support that's spamming UAVs, but that's not the case. It's the Assault people running Hardline and not making it through their Killstreaks and truly spamming a UAV nearly every 2 kills, which forces the need to run Assassin.

After putting over 80 hours now into this game, I think it would be perfect without a Perk that hid you from UAV. The only counter to a UAV should be the ability to shoot it down and a Counter UAV. At this point in the history of the game (since COD4), the UAV has become a huge part of the game. In COD4, a UAV would go up, and you didn't think about it. You couldn't even shoot it down. There was one counter and it was a perk called UAV Jammer, yet 99% of players ran either Stopping Power or Juggernaut. Why? Why weren't people afraid of showing up on radar back then? It was a part of the game, it kept it fast paced, and we all loved it. IW seemed to want to keep the "spirit" of COD4's "gun on gun" gameplay in MW3, but they continue to cater to this psychology of fear from being on a mini map.

It just kills everyone on the enemy team and gives an EMP type of effect afterwards. It's been 100% confirmed via leaked video that continues to get taken down, but most feel that it's something only available in private matches. It's also been said that it's "hidden" as a 4th killstreak in MP as a 25 kill streak, but the streak has to be achieved by gun only, no killstreak rewards. I find the private match thing more likely.

You really think they'd tip their hat to Sony and everyone else now for a 2013 launch?

There are hints coming out. Xbox employees have posted info on Linked In, etc about working on the next gen Xbox.

Certainly more and more info will begin to leak out, but I would expect an "official" announcement at E3 (May/June) with a Holiday release. For which year though is the question. A 2012 E3 Announcement could happen with a holiday 2012 launch. Although, that could very well be 2013.

First of all, everyone has the knife. It's not like you have to give something up to have the ability to quickly melee kill someone. Secondly, the whole "panic knifing" complaint is a joke because you're basically complaining about someone having better reflexes than you.

That's boring. So what if there's a "go to" weapon that is preferred over others in the community? I'm not really sure what that means when people complain about 1 weapon being overpowered. Should there be 6 or 7 Assault rifles that are exactly the same, but with different skins? Everyone complained about the AK74U, Treyarch finally nerfed it, now nobody uses it. Is that what you want? Nerf the Famas so no one uses it then create another go to weapon?
