Re: Sniper fine* Maps suck

TakeANapp wrote:

Sniping is fine on every map to me.

No i do not run around doing UB3R 1337 QUICKSCOP3z and N0Sc0pez and neither do i camp.

Adapt to the game.

Haha my single least favorite excuse for poor game mechanics and maps. ADAPT

I don't want to adapt to a situation that CAN be better and is being neglected. Just because something is different doesn't mean it is for the better and preferably adaptable.

Seriously. Suppose there is a post apocalyptic nuke and you and a friend are somehow the last people on earth. Unfortunately, your friend lost his legs and arms but the temperatures of the blast sealed off his wounds and he didn't die of infections. He's alive, but can't contribute to the scavenging for food. Each day you bring food for the both of you but you grow more hungry at your lack of food. You can live but you wouldn't be nearly as happy with a full tummy. So in order to keep all the food you are getting and keeping it away from your friend who hasn't contributed at all, you tell him to adapt to the situation. He lost his arms and legs and it's time for him to adapt to his new way of life. You proceed to no longer feed him as you watch painfully as he tries to adapt.

Okay, that was a bit extreme and some could argue that it wasn't even a comparable situation. You're right, it wasn't. I just thought it's something someone like you would treat such a scenario.

Now I'll give you a much more reasonable comparison.

Let's say the next CoD comes out and like never before, it's been hyped up for months!!! You are pumped to play this game. You open it up and the weapons are awesome, the maps are awesome, but something is missing. Finally, you realize they took out the ability to jump. the only options available are climbing over select objects and walls. Now this is frustrating to a lot of people who love the freedom of jumping onto and over things so they come on the forums to convince the devolopers it isn't a great idea. While it isn't going to KILL the game, it's a less desirable feature. It's a problem. Rather than people realizing the faults with this feature however, everyone is telling you to adapt to the new gameplay.

Do you see what I'm saying? Not being able to jump isn't going to totally ruin the game for everyone but it would be desirable to be able to. It's always in the CoD games, so why take it out? Much like maps that help cater to snipers, they've always been in the series however in Black Ops, they've handicapped sniping by changing its gameplay and the style of maps. This man is asking for what should have been a given to the developers from the start and I applaud him. Why should I have to adapt to something that is negligence and stupidity? Sure, I can "adapt" as you put it but it's not making me a happy gamer nor is it mending the wounds of the problem any bit.

You guys realize this isn't done by hacking so your "door to worse hacks" is illogical. It's a VERY simple glitch and takes about 10 seconds to do. It's an exploitation of a non game changing glitch. Is it really worth your time and blood pressure? If anything, just email treyarch about the glitch so they can fix the problem itself rather than spending countless time banning everyone that is using it (if they are even going to ban people that is)
Re: To Prestige or Not to Prestige.
To me, there is no point NOT to prestige. Treyarch has taken away all incentive to resist prestiging by allowing everything to be unlocked through cP. I would never prestige in MW and MW2 because of all the camos you worked for. Earning camos with your headshots was actually a pretty big accomplishment in the game and prestiging took away well, your weapons prestige. If there was some for of challenge that you could unlock something special through hard work, then maybe I wouldn't prestige. But as it is, you can buy everything you'd want (except for higher prestige items). I might as well prestige to earn the few things that it does get me. I really don't mind losing my weapons for a few hours as they can be quickly earned back.

That's just how I view things.

I'm going to take it you didn't read the whole OP? It isn't asking for MW2 sniping. Almost everyone can agree it was horrible. I also think if there was a general poll about sniping, people would also say Black Ops sniping is horrible and rendered useless (sorry if I'm speaking out of terms there but I firmly believe it). Right now, this petition is for a COMPROMISE. Something that most everyone can be happy about. Right now, the amount of pleased fans is highly imbalanced. You can't make everyone happy but making a mass of players (quick snipers and normal snipers alike) upset isn't making a very good compromise.

In short
MW2 sniping (SoH Pro)=bad rep
MW sniping=excellent
Black Ops sniping=a joke

Again, why change sniping when there weren't even mass complaints to begin with?

I have my issues with the game, but through and through, I enjoy it. If the developers deem something worthy enough to be patched that's great. However, if not, I can accept it, adapt, and move on.

The point of petitions is for supposed community managers to see a mass of suggestions. The job of a community manager is to look at what people are suggesting and wanting so that they may present it to the team that helps develop the game. Right now, I see more people asking for a patch to fix sniping vs. people wanting to keep it the way it is. Personally, I think if someone started a "keep the sniper as it currently is petition", you'd see a lot less signs than you are seeing here.

A petition doesn't mean that what you are fighting for is going to change but it's to get the attention of the developers to look further into it. They have the final say on things and if they can agree with the community members, cool. If they don't, we just have to live with it and accept it.

It's all to get the attention of someone out there part of the treyarch team to see and consider.

I am all for the CoD 4 sniping to return. MW2 brought the issues and controversy to snipers. Before that, if you got quickscoped, it was skill in reaction time and would cause everyone in the lobby to freak out in jealousy.

EVERYTHING has a counter. Get flak jacket. The RC car has to be touching you to get the kill. If someone is spamming RC cars, switch to your flak jacket class. If it was a 5 kill streak, I'd be pissed at the fact that I worked hard for 5 kills only to have someone flak block me.

Not stating whether I am for or against quick scoping but rather taking a pick at a nuisance I find with gamers these days about realism. Sorry OP, but don't even go there. Bring up some viable points.

If you are so worried about realism, then I'm SURE you'd be all for a one shot kill sniper rifle. Come on.. In real life if you take a bullet from a sniper rifle (even if it isn't in a vital area of the body), you are going to be rendered useless in a battlefield. You'd be immobilized.

You have to understand games aren't realistic. When will people realize the argument in the realism department is idiotic?

Games are made to be enjoyed. That's it. They aren't made to follow the laws of physics and rules of life 100%. They are associated with things we can relate to and that's about it. We can relate to guns and a war zone in some way. The rest is balanced and fine tuned so that we can enjoy the game without worrying about the little things (like what's realistic and what's not). If I expected realism from a video game, I wouldn't even touch a controller. You can't expect anything to be anywhere NEAR accurate in a video game.

Seriously, here's a few things that aren't realistic that you probably try and ignore because you really don't give a rats patooty other than quick scoping.

*Unlimited sprint - I don't think a human can sprint infinitely without tiring (not to mention several pounds in gear). Take out marathon pro.
*The lack of realistic recoil - I doubt someone after sprinting some distance could then pull out an AK - 47 and shoot it from the hip without it spraying like a broken shower head. Make recoil bounce everywhere on the screen if you shoot more than 2 bullets.
*The game is arena styled. You are limited to one area. When would you ever find two teams of people fighting in an arena. Give us the expanse of the world to fight in.
*In war, you can't just gain the supernatural ability to heal on the spot. I think CoD should require you to go to a hospital for 1 month before being able to enter MM again prior to a bullet wound.
*When reloading, the ammo in the clips you just discarded are magically added to the clip
*When would you ever have a killcam when you die in real life? Okay maybe you'd see it when you go to heaven just to see how you died but there isn't any respawning. Die once in a match and you should be done.
*No physics on bullets - They just shoot straight. Make them react like real bullets.
*If a grenade blows up around your legs, you are done for. SO much shrapnel. Shouldn't be able to recover from a grenade.

....the list can go on and on. The thing is, games try and stay within a believable realm while still making it an enjoyable and unrealistic experience. You can't tell me any of those points above sound like they would make a game more fun by adding realism. Games stretch the possibilities of the world for us to enjoy. We aren't looking for realism, we are looking for a diversity in experience and enjoyability. It's the same reason in action movies the stars are seemingly superhuman. We don't wanna watch an average guy perform average tasks. We like to enjoy the exaggerated and explosive fun.
