I set my router and leave it like that always, netflix, updates, speed tests, from power on to power off, and I choose to play in a moderate lobby, if you choose to have a cheap crappy connection all the time that is your choice to make obviously, but switching your connection around after the game begins to screw everybody else, that's what screws us all up.

I'm just trying to get my game back the way it was before I upgraded my internet plan, when I just had regular old DSL modem and omni wireless at 60% signal and got strict the game was fine, but now that I've run quad shield cat6e gig routers gold terminals everywhere to improve my black ops gaming (to get host) my mw3 open became impossible to play because I either get slapped with tons of lag comp or get host, but if I take my PS3 over to my other house where I've still got crappy wireless DSL concrete walls then Mw3 is fine, even easy, but blops then sucks.

Well that's something we can both agree upon, you wouldn't get matched up with lagged players if they stopped adding delay to your game to give them an advantage just because when the speed test was performed it determined their connection had a delay but yours did not, speeds are constantly changing on shared internet lines, to resolve both our complaints 20ms players should never be forced into a lobby with 260ms players, and if your delay changes in the middle of a game you should simply get kicked. (response time tests at every spawn, every kill, every objective, plus random)

(I never added delay to the BBS, just reduced delay if you read it correctly, but I did load test, called all my friends up and asked them to get on at the same time. The same for SQL load, we either call up the test clients and have them all make entries at the same time, then report problems, or the programmers run a website load test with simulated users in visual studios, they enter the number of users to simulate, record some website transactions, then click run, sessions start locking up at anywhere from 30 to 1050 per second depending on the hardware/programming. Then we just pick a few queries/tables to optimize/index and that fixes everything.)

A lag switch pauses all the other players from being able to do anything when the host pushes the button, that is very different from simply giving yourself slow relay speeds all the time, doing that just makes your ping slow all the time, so we don't get penalized with lag compensation, instead our games will be synced with everybody else that has a slow connection (in otherwords we get penalized with a real time delay instead of a fake one) and we should get paired with other players just like us that have a bad connection, if the lobby system worked correctly.

The problem is when there is 1 person in the lobby with a 250ms lag everybody else gets about 200ms lag added to their game, everybody except the 1 person that was lagging during the speed test, then if his connection improves that 1 person gets a full 200ms advantage against all the other players.

That's what really pisses me off, seeing at the end of the game that the people in 1st, 2nd, 3rd place have a red or yellow bar when they shouldn't even be in the same lobby with us. Last night with 260ms total delay I still got 4 green bars, all the other players had green, but I still came in 2nd place to the only guy that had 1 red bar. So if we all had green in a 150ms lobby on moderate, how much net delay did he actually have to get 1 red bar? This is crazy, if this were mw2 I would suspect a lag switch, but with the lobby system so screwed up and lag comp changing the bars around there is no telling, the truth is he should have never been allowed to stay in our lobby in the first place.

If you know they've got 250ms delay drop them there first then go up.

But I like the new updates, a lot of the problems appear to have been fixed, and I get some really enjoyable games on premium (I just wish I could pick my game type there as Domination only) clearly Activision has done a huge amount of work on fixing the issue, thanks, but still in game migration from open to strict needs to be added as does a search for local games first in order to fully resolve the problem. It makes no sense to see the USA solid green at 10pm then get paired with some clan way over in China only to have them wipe them floor with your face (or the reverse) all due to lag compensation.

We wouldn't be having problems if people would follow Activision's support page, it clearly says they do not support shared connections, everybody else ignores this and plays on the cheapest shared consumer internet they can afford, we have dedicated lines so the lag average consumers worldwide put into the game by ignoring Activision's recommendations is what ruins the game for us.

It appears that 135ms 3% loss is still much better than average for gaming worldwide, thus last night I got slightly below a 1.0k/d. I'm glad to see 250ms players now get kicked, hopefully that keeps us from having to play Asian's who would get a whopping 470ms when I host a match, and Europe at 312ms, now I see how those UK players racked up all those MOABs in their youtube videos with their subpar gameplays. If you don't have a consumer internet line where you play COD then I would suggest you create one using the methods listed here in the forums.

With range extended mags shorgun this seems likely, plus. he could have still been running the damage glitch, some players never prestige just so they can keep it, son only 2 bullets hit and poof your dead.

what we're talking about is lag in here though, like how when dial my internet speed back to 512kbps and every bullet connects no matter how bad I aim, then I go full speed at 50meg and empty the full clip but get no hitmarkers, this is due to packets being dropped, the only bullets and shots that make it into the game are those the host shows in the killcam, if it shows you didn't shoot at all but emptied your full clip maybe even both clips then it is because the host lost or ignored all the internet packets your bullets were in, most likely because your internet is so much faster and or fragmented on their side that they get queued up and dropped.

Any thoughts? I lowered them to 200ms-50ms 3-5% and I could play but not like it was the day before patch, also tried 512kbps up 0 down, and changed 3074 to bulk everything else to exempt, nothing works anymore? It appears this has been quick fixed so that everyone no randomly gets assigned lag comp regardless of connection quality? Can you verify?

I also noted that some have hacked in Hollow points as a perk possibly using the elite inspect element 6 perk hack, might have been the reason for some of those 1 hit kills, but they appear to have patched that too last night.

I'm making my own video, most people don't realize how easy it is to run a linux server or to run linux (OpenWRT or DD-wrt) on your router, millions of others just download an HD movie while playing, or run bittorent, its so easy to lower your download ping and/or lose packets. Millions of players are doing this, even a 10 year old knows the youtube method works while the video is buffering up.

In my video I'll be showing my router settings, then a speed test on the net, then a speed test on the PS3, then my NAT as open in MW3, then every death followed by the kill cam.

Another easy change is picking a horrible MTU for large packet loss, noticed that using the 576 MTU (lowest ping) on the PS3 but 1470 on my router gets me host every first match in a lobby, as Host I start the match alone, but since my packets are so fragmented not a single player can join the match, so after 20 seconds I win by forfeit, you can even capture the flags and lay bombs, then I get dropped back into the lobby, and on things like 2vs2 you get to play the whole match alone, then win 1st place. I'll bet you can kick out all the other players just by changing the MTU as host while in a match, I've seen it happen before, but I hated to try it myself, especially to the degree it is done in your videos, if I got a nuke/moab every game no doubt it would be obvoius I was lagging for the win, I'd much rather be a Try Hard camper with a .7kd than lag on purpose every game, but the latest lag compensation code additions have made things so much worse, even if I prefire with rapid fire lmg, empty it, no hit markers, sometimes get invisible players, delayed sounds, invisible kill streaks (that my turrent sees, but for me just air), claymores on my screen but not there on the kill cam, including smoke and explosions that never were delivered from the host, in some cases it appears more like complate IP blocking, not just a few failed packets, but every single one.

Lag based cheating is now the easiest known way to cheat guaranteed in MW3.

I'm a founder so I'll make an exception and lag to make a video if it will help stop this.

I've also pre-ordered Black-Ops 2, and don't want the same glitch there.

250ms is a huge advantage, they should limit lag compensation at never more than 100ms

if you ever lag more than 100ms on any packet you should get kicked for the rest of the day to a 125ms+ laggers lobby where everyone gets to lag all day, a simple fix for a simple problem.
